    When I was a young person we always pulled a wagon behind the baler and the bales were just pushed out onto the wagon and we stacked them. I must admit I never saw a contraption like that "bale lifter" LOL Seemed like baling hay days always fell on the hottest days of summer.

      We still do that here. I have a 15 year old Deere baler that I bought new and I just want to bought it didn't think I needed a kicker because we only Bill a couple thousand squares a year everything else is round belden most of the time wrapped a few times in my life that we ever got more down than we had time to put away or time to put away and wagons to reload and we had to drop hey and pick it up what's either a truck or a trailer or not necessarily fond memories we had a neighbor in the North end of the county that had one of those conveyors I think if I remember right he loaded loaded round bales from and Allis Chalmers roto Baylor with it

      @snapstring 13 дней назад

      Our bailer had a tray that was spring loaded and the bail was thrown by the bailer back into the trailer. This was back in the mid 80’s.

    Good evening Meredith,
    I usually never speak up but I seem to notice a few more negative comments coming in lately. This ol Iowan wants to let you know I didn’t grow up on a farm but spent some of my favorite times with my grandparents in Missouri on their farm.
    They too struggled at times with all the same things as your family. It was very fortunate that my brothers and I were only about 50 minutes away. We helped any time we could and besides my parents this helped teach all my family to be very hard workers for anything we wanted for our families. It worked, we were all very successful in many fortunate ways.
    You have a Beautiful Family. Keep doing what you’re doing. Sometimes you just need to hear it.
    I love and also find your videos quite comforting.
    Takes me back sometimes.
    Give all your family a hug and continue with you.

    I started working with hay and straw when I was 11 yrs old and loved it. I worked for my neighbours who made Hay and their son was a yr younger than I was. We would walk along side the trucks and put the bales on it’s side, ready to go into the baler. We would stack the bales into the barn by hand. It was a long hard day but I loved every minute of it! 👍🏽❤️😎

    Wesley if your reading. I've done this. 21 bale bundles. I used banding from Uline. But if you just want to try it, take two ratchet straps on the ground about 32 inches apart. Stack 7 bakes 3 rows high. The ratchet them together. Use same spear on tractor for round bale. Try it.

    I’m a fifth generation cattle farmer from Southeast Indiana along with my brother and dad. My son and daughter are the sixth, they are our hay helpers. I took Katy back to Purdue for her senior year and Landon to Ball State for his Freshman year. We are getting to start our 4th cutting hay, we round bale all first cutting and square most of the rest. We bale around 100 acres each cutting and usually get at least 5 cuttings. We have around 100 head of angus cattle (50 in a spring calving herd and 50 in the fall). Going to miss my hay helpers. Katy is going to graduate from Purdue with an Animal Science and an Agricultural Communications Degree, two Degrees in 4 years. She works for the Animal Science Department and creates almost everything to their social media accounts along with doing the midday show remotely for one of our local radio stations. Landon is in the School of Education and plans to go through the State Police academy after graduation and be a School Resource Officer who also teaches. Very proud of both of them.

Worked through 2 years of college on this ranch.We never had a loader. 2 people would load from the ground and usually the owner of the ranch would have one of his daughters drive for us. We would haul 450 to 500 ton evert summer.

    You could shorten the length of the bales if they are too heavy to handle. Best stored in a ventilated shed with an air space under the stack. We used to lay a plastic goundsheet, then arrange pallets on the ground and stack the hay on top.

    Kinda reminds you of grocery shopping for the cows doesn’t it, you go to the store ( hay field ), you load the cart ( hay wagon ), you get home and unload the groceries ( food for cattle ), you put it away in the cupboard ( metal container ), then you feed the cattle daily. Just my midwestern way of thinking 🤣 I get flashbacks of helping on the farm in my yute ( what’s a yute ) “ youth” ! 80 continuous days here in Zona 🌵 of triple digit plus temps 🌞 😓 should be cooling down by Holloween 🎃

    You know we never picked them up by the strings when I was a kid in the early 60's. We always used "hay hooks" a metal hook with a wood 90° handle. One in each hand and grabbed the bale by the end with a hook in each hand. Never had a bale come apart. Probably a little tighter too, that was over 60 years ago too. No round bailers then in our county anyway.
