for frontside: approaching the curb at an angle, at the very last second as the nose of your board is about to go over the curb you want to lean slightly toward the heelside of your trucks allowing your toeside front-wheel to make contact (no lifting) with the side of the curb so that it goes up over the edge and then once you feel that front truck catch onto the edge you want that back truck to follow and SLAP, then grind and roll off! and then for approaching backside slappy: you want to lean toeside of your trucks last second so that the heelside front-wheel makes contact with the curb first (the wheel basically rides up that's how your truck gets onto the grind.) also it's a bit easier to learn with bigger wheels because the more surface of the wheel you got to roll up the side of the curb the better.
whaat , planned to learn these today and ended up here before a skatesession. It is a pleasure to hear from a chilling skate philosopher from kamehameha village in the middle of the pacific ! ! Gotta get them this evening ! ! !!
Maaaan I just started skating again at 46 and I have the most killer slappy curb across the street at a church. It has no grass on the other side so you can board slide it to, its painted red and so long also the parking lot banks up to it .....I gotta get my legs back but once I do I'm getting on that thing man...probably with pads first LOL its been 20 years 😂
Yeah, I'm 45 and skate some and I like to do the crunchy stuff not the flip stuff. I am getting pads for street with no shame. My knees and elbows can't take it these days...maybe hip padding too!
“The slappy happens, just just need to be ready when it does.”
I love this quote, and it accurate for most tricks.
Hawaii style 🏄♂️🤙🏻
First frontside slappy in 2 years today…. Felt soooooo good.
Best instruction of a slappy ive ever heard; in person or video!
This is rad, even if it was recorded with a Lego phone. Respect

This helps a ton. I just haven't been able to get them, and I feel like I can now.

You and macchan should definitely upload some more tutorials

Where is this? I been looking for signs in the back and looking at buildings
are you related to Sam Hartsel of Colorado?
Its tricky coz the older we get we cant help overthinking all the physics. All you need to know is what he says @4:20 in the video...
I used to love slappys , I woukd say slappy is the front truck not the rear
A new video!
