Is this the kind of ruleset where you can negate an opponents point by quickly scoring one yourself. So that kamikaze attacks like in karate kumite don't work. I heard about this system in Hema but couldn't find anything about it

no, this is simply duel. HEMA is fencing with copy (this same size, weight, balans) of historical weapon

when is "double" hit so hit from both sides...is few rulesets even in one country, but general rule is stay alive ;-)
