I am an 82 yo, educated, civics- knowledgeable and politically savvy Black woman. I wish the group of young people had been live streamed. How dismissive! Roland and the older people on the panel are out of touch with young people and many old people, like myself. The two young ladies are definitely in touch. The oldsters shut down Morgan Elise Johnson. I agree with her. We need to get signed agreements BEFORE we vote. Black people in office usually mean that they will not look out for Blacks. It's understandable why only some, old Black people vote.

Now that I am able to hear the panel, my question to Morgan Elise Johnson would be, how many of your young constituents were informed about this event! The fact of the matter is, if we as Blacks do not attend these civic meetings, we cut ourselves right out of the process! The people who control the powerbase know and understand that quite well! I will give two examples, city council meeting and school Board meeting; who is responsible for the scheduling of these meetings? How is the information about meeting times and locations communicated to the Blacks in the Community! How do the different age groups obtain their information! While Roland reaches a vast audience, does that include the gen X and the gen Z? The bottom line is how do we as Blacks communicate effectively to the younger generation? Are our key organizations such as the NAACP and The Urban Leage reaching out in the economically depressed areas in Black Communities? Are they reaching out to our young people (ages 18 to 35)?

While I did obtain a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology, I did not attend an HBCU. However, my wife and I are both college graduates, (she with her Associates). We are also homeowners living a somewhat middle-Income lifestyle! Our son is also a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, again not from an HBCU! My point is, when I was active on a regular basis with my locale NAACP, to the point of working on a committee, the organization seemed to cater or lean more toward the Middle Class and the upwardly mobile Blacks as opposed to the working class and the disadvantage Blacks who needed to be included in the process and benefit from the services! In other words, if the poor folks feel left out of the process or totally ignored when it came to their issues being addressed, these issues in the disenfranchised communities become more intense!
What happened to Cory Booker? Why is he so up front about a party that don't have Black folks' interest at heart. He is too often on the spotlight with the wrong agenda that don't benefit Black people.
The biggest take away from this town hall is we do not have a black agenda. This is why it's so hard to get us on the same page. When it was slavery or Jim Crow we knew what the agenda was. We all had the same agenda which was to end slavery and then ending legal segregation. An agenda makes it clear to the country and the Democrat party what we are demanding in exchange for our vote. If a candidate doesn't commit to it then we know already they don't get our support. But they not gonna put together that type of policy demand because then they will have to try and get politicians to at least advocate for it. Imagine them coming to the DNC with reparations as a part of our black agenda or we not voting. These people will never do it because it will upset the politicians and DNC. So if you never see this agenda then you know they full of it.
