This movie has my favourite scene of all jaws movies. The camera shows it's rainning, and the sea is calm. Them we see the shark calmly swimming, arriving in Amity, as the theme kicks in. The simplicity of it is the stuff of legends, it's something as the same level of the first movie.
@@paulgarot9249 Yeah, but the difference is. That was terrible CGI, this was the actual animatronic. While I know that Deep Blue Sea has the best Shark Animatronics I have ever seen, and some of the greatest practical Shark Attacks; the attack against Susan at the end was Horrible CGI.
I know it's only natural to scream in panic during a shark attack, but that one girl screaming every second at glass-breaking level is so annoying. You can't enjoy feeling the nail-biting suspense cause of the screaming. Great montage though, loved it. Now that I've watched thus, it made me think they made this shark bigger than all the rest in the franchise. I'm probably wrong.
Well the jaws 3 shark was bigger! But yes this was nail biting when I watched it in the 80s! Even today If you were sat beside me on the sofa I’d be like “hey we both comfy on sofa but I’m not gonna reach for those Doritos on the coffee table..just knock them with your toes and hope for the best” 😬

2 is the only film in this franchise that didn't technically goof with that fish. 1 had it swimming backwards. 3 had it stuck in a pipe unable to swim. 4 had it roaring. Sharks cannot do any of these realistically, but I said technically because we are talking about fantasy here and in the make believe world they can do anything!!!!
Not a horrible sequel.....but quite a drop off from the original. Passionate acting by Scheider.... I hated the cheesy line at the end though... "...open wide / say ahhhhh." Another complaint of mine...(as if anyone cares) LOL.... is the killing of 2 divers instead of 1....and 2 gals in the water skiing scene instead of 1.... making the shark attacks too realistic....more like a Friday the 13th flick.
yes couldn't stand it either that line , because it if makes sense let's audience know shark will fall for it . Jaws has more terror in the attacks somehow. best attacks were the two lonesome boats - woman at start and boy with girl, part where they were about to get it on and an innuendo huge fin pops up (not sure if just my mind lol) .
Though the Original Jaws will always be my favorite, I still think Jaws 2 did the best job of presenting the shark. It's where you see the shark the most throughout the total run time. In the OG Jaws you barely saw the shark for obvious reasons and the shark was just cheesy looking in Jaws 3 and Jaws the Revenge.
I'll tell you why: because in the past, movies were made to look as realistic as possible, and now most movies are pumped up with computer effects and filmmakers get carried away with fantasy.
It's a very dumbed down version of the first film. With a director that did not have the film making skill and talent that Steven had. Jaws is a classic. Jaws 2 is product.
@@roquefortfiles Did you see the Travesties that were 3 and 4??? If Jaws 2 wasn't the sequel to Jaws, it would have easily been considered one of the greatest slasher films of the 70s. A praised slasher like The Original Halloween, or the Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Heck, it came out the same year as the original Halloween, predating it by 4 months, and contributed just as much innovation to the slasher genre as both Halloween and Texas.

The Shark in Jaws 2 is more like a serial killer who takes pleasure in killing for fun. The Slasher Part of the movie is especially prevalent in the last half. Teens adrift, in the middle of the ocean, taken out one by one. By a mysterious killer on the loose -- in this case, a Shark.

I saw the first matinee on Sat June 17. Line-up was massive and the movie started 20m late. My buddy and I were both 13 and thought it was better than the original. Clearly we were dumb teens at the time 😄 I still enjoy it but it's no match for Spielberg's classic.
I never realized that the shark is only visible for 5 min in the entire movie wich is like 1.50 h long.... :) And I still love it... :) Jaws is the best, then it's this one... :)

I think because the movies aren’t about the shark. They are more about Brody and his family. Characters well portrayed. The shark is an extra. If you count the attacks in each film they are sparse but shocking with very little of the shark shown.
I was a kid when this show came out. The movie was awesome and I had the poster for Jaws 2 on the back of my bedroom door. It was a scene of late day with the sun starting to go down, a lot of orange, black and yellowish hues. There was a huge shark fin breaking the water and the heading read 'Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Water '. Great movies, great memories!

It was a deleted scene but the shark was actually going for another one of the teens (forget his name, the one who wears the flat cap). Anyway the shark ends up munching on him. There is pics of him laying on the over turned boat and the shark about to surface at him
Really sad that a crane animatronic with very limited movements can scare so well, while movies made today look like a clown class of unrealistic animation.
It’s funny how despite the fact that the original Jaws came out in 1975, almost 50 years ago, the shark in that first … and in my opinion best ! movie of all four that were made , looks the most realistic of them all !
I remember the first time I saw Jaws 2 was on tv and the movie was already more than half way through so when I saw the shark with the scar I thought they retconned the ending of the first movie and the first shark had survived the explosion and had come back for revenge against Brody
One thing that bothers me is that everyone calls Jackie annoying for screaming. Like yeah I’m going to be screaming when a 25 foot shark is attacking me while I’m on a raft!

@@griggerp It’s not that we don’t understand the plot for 4, that’s not the issue, the plot simply is a travesty and utterly hilarious. Jaws 3 is silly and over the top, but while the concept isn’t exploited to its full potential, the core concept of a _massive_ (I mean 35ft is absolutely monstrous!) shark loose inside Seaworld attacking visitors is an awesome idea and one that would work well if remade! Jaws 3 is stupid, ridiculous, poorly executed in many areas, with dreadful special effects, and a visual presentation that hasn’t aged well because of the 3D camera technology, but I still find it 10 times more enjoyable than Jaws: The Revenge, which is not even so bad it’s good, it’s just really _really_ poor.
I love how the jaws series does not make a massive shark like a meg, but a great white shark that is like a 25 feet long monster that is somewhat more believeable
My cousins and I saw this the summer this came out. Next we found out L wouldn't use the bathroom alone, because Jaws might come through the t--let. We teased hm for a long time.
Jaws 1 or 2 have nothing on the award winning acting, and cutting edge.special effects of jaws 3.. i mean cmon, it was a masterpeice.. all of the actors should have won awards.. and the realism of that shark, geez. . It still gives me nightmares today .. the only other shark film that comes close to this legendary films is SHARKNADO!
Jaws 2 was still good, but it always suprised me how they could create one of the best movies of all time, then do a sequel and the shark looked less realistic than the first film.
“Say ahhh” just doesn’t have the same impact as “smile you son of a bitch!” R.I.P Roy Scheider.

The problem I have with fin is that there is no body displacing the water. In long shots it works but up close you can tell there is nothing below it

This is a good sequel, but the rest vary in quality. Jaws 3 is passable in aspects, but Jaws 4 is a travesty.
to me, I think jaws 4 is better than jaws 3. it’s just that nobody really understood it it’s plot. as for jaws 3, horrible quality, no plot, etc.

I love how the jaws series does not make a massive shark like a meg, but a great white shark that is like a 25 feet long monster that is somewhat more believeable

My cousins and I saw this the summer this came out. Next we found out L wouldn't use the bathroom alone, because Jaws might come through the t--let. We teased hm for a long time.
Bath times were never the same again...looking forward the soap..was traumatic..

Jaws 1 or 2 have nothing on the award winning acting, and cutting edge.special effects of jaws 3.. i mean cmon, it was a masterpeice.. all of the actors should have won awards.. and the realism of that shark, geez. . It still gives me nightmares today .. the only other shark film that comes close to this legendary films is SHARKNADO!

Jaws 2 was still good, but it always suprised me how they could create one of the best movies of all time, then do a sequel and the shark looked less realistic than the first film.
Very fake but also very creepy. Creepier looking than the real thing.
Because of the burning and overall the shark has more scenes where it is visible compared to the first movie.
