Here's a short overview:
- you can only fly with a power bank in the carry on baggage, not in the checked in one.
- make sure that the capacity of your power bank is under 100Wh
- if you want to fly with a power bank that has a capacity of between 100Wh and 160Wh, then you'll need airline permission
- it's a good idea to have the capacity printed on the portable charger you're traveling with

Tx for the video, I'm trying to find out if ok in my backpack or laptop bag instead on carry on, since it goes with me, not checked in; but maybe they want to force us to pay the carry on fee, I'm flying without luggage, only my personal bag. If it's not checked in, then you can take it along even in your pocket if you don't have any other luggage. At least that's my understanding.

I have an important question…… it’s September 2022 right now…… and my question is….. I am bringing an small square luggage with wheels plus a backpack for me to carry.

The "carry-on" is the piece of luggage you take with you on the plane, and which you store in the overhead compartment. It's there where you should take your power bank. But during the security check, you'll be asked to remove the power bank and other electronics from the bag as they go through the scan.

It's a worldwide rule. But if you're traveling internationally it's always best to check with the airline before.
I m really confused, my battery is 20,000 and is able to output 20V so doing the math it would be 400Wh but that s too much to be true so now I really have to leave it at home just to be sure
What type of battery do you have? If it's a regular power bank, then the standard voltage used to calculate Wh is 3.7. Also, power banks usually have their capacity written on them in both mAh and Wh. If not, then check the box and/or the user manual for more details.
How many power banks can I carry? I have like 8 power banks; 2x 20000mah, 6x 10000mah.
There's no specified limit for power banks under 100Wh. Just for those between 100Wh and 160 Wh. You can carry just two of those.

@@rhh121 for power banks with capacities between 100 and 160 Wh, you need a special approval from your airline before the flight. Regardless of the power bank is fully loaded or not. Of course, the airport security might not really check the capacity and you might be able to pass without the approval. But if they do check and if you don't have the approval, then they might confiscate your power bank.

@@ayyasim9299 36800mAh is equivalent to 136Wh. This means that you will need to get a special approval from the airline before the flight. It's best to write to their customer support and ask them, since your power bank is over the 100Wh limit.

Yes, you can take more than one 27000 mAh power bank with you. In fact, the TSA doesn't offer a limit for power banks under 100 Wh (27000mAh). But if you do want to take several with you, it's always a good idea to double-check with the airline beforehand.

Some airlines require you to protect it from short circuiting. How do you do this?
All quality power banks have short circuit safety mechanisms enabled. I know that airlines specifically say to protect batteries from short circuits but the most you can realistically do is just to keep your power bank in a case/bag and not turn it on during the flight.
Power banks do not have exposed contacts like batteries, or proprietary battery packs do (like for a camera or drone, etc). The exposed contacts are the main worry. I have gone through TSA checkpoints with a 15,000 MAh power bank (55.5 watt hour) in the xray scanned bin, and they don’t care. All power banks have USB connectors (or Apple’s lightning) and thus are recessed and protected. As long as you have them with you, like the video says, airlines are not worried.
I have a hoco powerbank and on it it says 30.000mAh but 99wAh will it be allowed?
30000mAh is the equivalent of 111Wh, not sure why it says 99Wh on yours. You should double-check with the manufacturer. You can also ask the airline you will fly with.

30000mAh is over the 100Wh limit. You can still bring it on board, however, but you will need to have a special permit for it. So make sure to contact your airline before the flight.
Thank you for this, the capacity of mine should be okay. But my airline, easyjet, says it can't be over 12V.
The capacity Volatage is 3.7V but it's capable of outputting 20V, so I was thinking it couldn't be taken on board if they are looking at output voltage and not the capacity voltage. It's at 99Wh's though in terms of capacity.

Technically, the individual cells of a power bank provide only 3.7V. However, it's not clear if the Easyjet regulations refer to the entire device or not. In my opinion, you should not have problems at check-in. But the safe way to go about it is to actually ask the company before the flight.

For anyone wondering they never even checked the power bank both ways. It was fine, I put it in the TSA box seperately from my bag.

30000Ah? or 30000mAh? most likely mAh. That is the equivalent of 111Wh. This means that it's over the 100Wh limit. You can still travel with it but you need to get in touch with the airline before the flight and get a permit. Power banks between, 100 and 160Wh, like in your case require special permits.
