Thank you.
Thank you so much for your wonderful lessons. You explain things so well and you also give confidence to beginners like myself.
A lot of artistry type channels show us the awesome skills of the channel’s creator, with time lapses of stunning artworks being created in what seems to be an effortless way, while a pleasant monologue gently tells us about the artist and their work. These channels are wonderfully entertaining but are a little like magic shows that seem to tell you how the magic is done but still leave you astounded at the magic and none the wiser.
This channel is also entertaining and enjoyable but it also actually teaches us how to paint.
Thank you, this is what I want, to pass on useful skills!
Michele, I think you’re absolutely brilliant!
Aw thanks!
Famous last words, "Oh, I'll just touch that bit there," lol. You struck MANY chords. Thank you for your vids. They've been and continue to be incredibly helpful.
You're very welcome 🙂
You are a great teacher. Your teachings often align exactly with questions or next steps for me. I am determined to keep painting despite not feeling like I am making leaps of progress. You tutorials always make a positive difference in my painting skills
Progress is not a straight path, stick with it :-)
Lots of "Aha!" moments, Michele, for me. So many problems resolved simply from watching this excellent video. Many thanks. Please continue your first-class teaching!
Then I shall continue ;-)
I think this is one of your most helpful videos for a beginner. It's great to have all of the flat wash tips together in one place. One thing that has really helped me is your recommendation to use a much larger brush. Before I found your channel, I had been trying to use a #6 round for everything, because some other RUclipsr had said, "That's really all you need."
Well you can get by with one brush... I would personally choose a size 10/12 if stuck on a desert island. And if you only painted small florals a size 6 might do. I don't think you need 50 different brushes, but a couple of large and small round and a big flat is a good start :-)
So funny! I wish someone had taught me this for my first lesson. I learned the hard way.
Thank you for the clear explanation of making a flat wash!
Any time!
Good viewing again Michele, ( I thought it would be) I now see I'm guilty of ' I'll just...' 😆 Thank you for sharing 😊
Everyone is at some point!
Love the frog ring…having one made for my daughter ❤️
Wonderful
I especially benifited from your information regarding granulating colors. Thank you for talking about them and explaining the differences. Very helpful!
No problem 🙂
Thank you Michelle!!! I think I heard angels singing as you went thru these mistakes! I am brand new to this and was confused as to what was happening; now I know!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wonderful!
Again I thank you for a brilliant teaching video! No matter what our painting level, your videos offer gentle correction and straight-forward technique. I always learn something new! I appreciate being reminded to stretch/tape paper, and use the proper brush for the task at hand!
Another excellent video Michele. Thx as always. 🥰
Thanks 🙏
Love the poppy painting!
Hi Michele, You are a fantastic teacher.
You have helped me so much with all your advice. Thank you from this Aussie 🫶🏻
All the techniques you showed have been very helpful on my return to watercolour painting 🎨 Regards Glenda.
Excellent instruction Michele! Thanks so much. ♥️💐♥️
Glad it was helpful!
I've gotten the most wonderful white ceramic ramekins at the charity shops to use for custards and just the right amount of French oinion soup. Just 25 to 50 cents each. But then I used them to mix up large flat washes. So I won't use them for cooking now.😂
I love a good look round a charity shop 😊
I've seen nobody teach these important basics as well as you do. Great video!
I appreciate that!
Another helpful video from an excellent teacher!
Thank you!
Thanks!
I appreciate that, very kind, thank you!
Hopefully no more streaky or unwanted cauliflower effects!! Such great videos!! thank you!
Thanks for watching ☺️
A joy to watch these techniques!
Thank you. Love hearing the basics. I forget lol. Dividing larger areas was helpful to watch today. I always look forward to your tutorials ❤🌵
Thanks so much!
Thanks for such useful info, i can't wait to try everything. God Bless.
I’m so happy to have found you. Your explanations are easy to understand and make me excited to paint!
Thanks Annette!
Very helpful. Showed me where I was going wrong. Many thanks. Have been watching your videos for the last couple of weeks and have found them very helpful.
Great to hear!
I appreciated the technique for picking up puddles with the dry brush
Glad it was helpful!
I am a beginner and I'm so glad I found your channel. Love your tips videos and listen to them over and over. Mixing colors and painting backgrounds were most helpful this time. Thank you for explaining the difference between granulating and staining colors. I have so much to learn and I'm having so much fun.❤
That's great Linda, thanks for watching!
Great tips ! I recently started to stretch my paper.
Wonderful!
This was so funny (the beginner flat wash demo) Great tutorial. I love your poppy field painting. It’s beautiful. Such vibrant colours .
Thank you so much!
That was a great video. I not only look forward to your new videos, but I also look forward to seeing what new creation your manicurist comes up with. 😊
She's a great artist!
Great tip on how to soak up puddles.
That was excellent! I am a beginner and can’t take classes so this information is so helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh my gosh! This is invaluable information! So helpful, thanks!
Thanks for watching ☺️
Such great, clear instructions Michele - thank you so much. No matter how many times I hear these tips, I still need to be reminded constantly! 😊
We all do 🙂
Thanks Michelle! 🎨🖼️🥰
Thank you! 🎨🧑🏻🎨🥰
You’re welcome 😊
That hairstyle is very flattering to your face.
Thanks!
Such a useful tutorial. The two things that I found most useful were using the leading edge for large areas and the fine dabbing of excess puddles. I have just tried the latter and it worked really well
My biggest nemesis still is not making a large enough mix. I need to get my tubes out to do this rather than rely on my filled half pans ❤
It's really hard to mix a large wash from pans, the good news is they are totally interchangeable :-)
This video explains the problems I had trying to fix unevenness . Thanks I love your mise en situations.
You're welcome!
Im so thankful i watched this video. Thank you.
Another excellent video! The tip I found most useful was how to make sure you mix enough color in a small dish where you can start with water. Most pallettes don't have large enough wells and when I work on larger paintings with strong colors I have struggled with this.
Glad it was helpful 😊
The demo comparing transparent to granulating was very helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much 😊 this was a brilliant and super useful tutorial 👏🏻
You’re welcome 😊
The leading edge technique is one I like using. I often lift and tip the board to help me move the paint in the right direction. Also, I am a lover of granulating colors and the texture they deliver. Another great video Michele, thank you.
No problem!
Another great lesson Michelle!!! I'm such a beginner and having taken some time off, it's like starting over!!! I needed to hear this... such good advice! Liked the last part also about background painting... also using the largest brush... yesterday I saw an 8 year old video about using the largest brush... I'm glad 😊 you bring so many things to light!!! Lovely nails!!! Thank you Michelle from a grateful California Gramma ❤️
You are so welcome!
Great advice! Thanks again!
My pleasure 🙂
Thanks! This is so helpful.
Soooo good, especially for a newbie like me! Thank you!
Thank you for making this much clearer.
You're welcome 🙂

Great tips, thanks!
No problem!
Thank you Michele! This was very helpful.
Thank you for your video, theres always something I've forgotten about x the information is so useful.
You are very welcome 🙂
I have made that mistake quite a few times, but not anymore, it's a big learning curve, thankyou for your very helpful advice with using watercolour. Love your channel.
Thanks Sue!
pick up puddles by dotting it with clean, semi-dry brush - excellent tip, thank you! I've been leaving strange marks when trying to remove them; I'll do it this way now :)
Glad it helped you 🙂
Thanks Michelle, just what I needed!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips.
Thanks for sharing.
No problem!
Thank you this has helped a lot. I have been struggling with water to paint mix
This has made it much clearer.
That's great 😊
This is a very informative and helpful video Michele. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips, thank you. I would have loved to see though how you join up the last bit of flat wash with the first bit, in your last tip (at the top left hand corner).
Thanks for sharing this very useful information.
Loved this.
Thank you ☺️
Thank you, Michele. This was great and so helpful. Wow!
So glad!
Excellent information! Thank you for the great explanations!

Thanks 😀 for the tips. It's very helpful. I clicked the like button.
Awesome, thank you!
Well done! Thank you so much ❤️🦋
No problem 😊
Thank you madam for sharing. I will definitely try ♥️
Lots of great tips, liked the difference between the granulating and staining colours and how to put a background wash in around something already painted. Thank you!
You are very welcome!
Granulation colors use to give me tons of problems before I realized that it was the granulation and my not constantly stirring up the paint before applying it. I have been improving greatly with your help & explaining how to fix this issue. Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video! Have a great weekend!
Oh goodness, so you were doing the exact opposite. I can see your thought process though, understandable!
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
This was VERY helpful! Knowing the little things, like stirring the wash paint & chasing errant little pools of water, sure do make a difference in enjoying the process of painting, not fighting it. 😊
THANK YOU! :)
Really valuable video!
Thanks MW
Love all your awesome videos!
Glad you like them!
This is hugely helpful once again. Thank you so much for sharing and reminding.
You are so welcome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! *I never seem to mix enough paint, somehow thinking to be efficient... and I'll be using markedly larger brushes going forward.
The most helpful info for me was the last one about the leading edge. I never heard of this before and I made exactly the mistake you mentioned 🙂 Emphasis on "made" because now I learned how to avoid it. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge 🥰
ty
Very helpful.
I'm glad 😊
Very informative tutorial. Thank you! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent
Well done! Each tip was valuable information, especially how to get rid of puddles of paint. Thanks for taking the time to make this more clear!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I’ve watched this( 4 months ago ), still find it useful! Am now doing your course & you’ve helped me loads with my practices. Am enjoying this lesson & your helpful explanations as much now as I did first time around! Did you also make mistakes & forget pieces of information at the beginning of your career? I seem to need to repeat & re visit your videos frequently & find new things in them. Thanks
Everybody makes mistakes, even when they have years of experience. I hope the course is going well!
Another great one !
Thank you!
I’m laughing at you trying to mess up the first one 😂 FINALLY something that I can outdo you on 🎉
Lol!
Great advise. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful. TY.
No problem!
Very useful video....
Thank you
You're welcome!
P.S. Forgot to tell you my favorite tip: Start with water. I was doing it backwards all this time! And mix 4x the amount you think you'll need. Yes! I needed to hear this, as I run out of paint all the time. Thanks Michele! ♥️💐♥️
No problem!
Thank you very helpful
No worries!
