Esa Holopainen, the guitarist, is one of the founding members of Amorphis, which popped into existence 1990. I wholeheartedly recommend you to get well acquainted with this band. They're absolutely great live and... don't get me started with the ancient sources of most of their lyrics -- some of which come from compilations such as the lyrical Kanteletar and the epical Kalevala. Love you, guys. Keep up the good job, you bubbly you.
Yeah, I think Anneke was definitely there with them for some shows but had also recorded parts for when she couldn't be there in person. Lovely as always, and I always love watching you two, it's so wholesome and fun!
I think Tuomas has a brother, but not in Amorphis, the guy at the keyboard is afaik Santeri Kallio. The main act is live, and they blended in Anneke which has recorded at the studio i think. I think they re-issued the video because of a record label change. Btw. interesting background Story Nuclear Blast -> Atomic Fire.
No no no, they have lovely beautiful folky songs like My Kantele, Message in the Amber, The Smoke, Silent Waters and House Of Sleep. The harshness is there just to underline the beauty. Same goes with Esa Holopainen's s Silver Lake solo project, like the song "Storm".
Sorry guys, I'm late with my answer, but the name Holopainen is quite common. It is the 131th most common family name in Finland, and there are around 5000 Holopainens walking the streets. Fun fact: a slave is 'holop' in Russian language. Maybe the past of Holopainens includes serfdom under the czar?
