What an EXCELLENT SERMON. I just finished listening to it. This sermon is so GOOD I am going to listen to it again. There is so much information and use of scripture pastor Andy Woods is like a highly skilled surgeon and completely dismantled this FALSE definition of total depravity as defined and understood by Calvinist. Thank You Pastor Andy Woods.
What I find greatly helpful is to have been following along with Ps Andy through the book of Acts study especially and even the book of Genesis in general to appreciate this teaching even more. It offers an in depth context to couch all taught here in.
In terms of general revelation, Ps Billy Crone is doing a study on intelligent design which goes into detail on the Biblical case for an intelligent designer namely God the Father. It does not focus as much on text exegesis but it offers a thorough study on why the secular model falls short against the Biblical worldview on this topic. Greatly educational.
Great teaching as usual. But, I do have a question? How can we know the wise men were not saved? Especially since the new covenant was not in place until 31 years later. Doesn't Hebrews 11focus on faith in the promise of God which is ultimately Jesus. I can't say they were saved but can we really say the wise men weren't?
I have been on the fence about this issue until I read Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul and have since leaned in the direction of reformed soteriology. However, I am a huge supporter of Dr. Woods and am genuinely open to having my mind changed. I have some pushback that I only share in case someone can answer and help me think this through…am I wrong in thinking that the real issue is not whether or not Calvinist believe unbelievers can seek God or not. Obviously they would agree they were unbelievers at one point and then they sought God. Isn’t the real issue whether or not God was 100% the reason initiator of that seeking? I don’t think these passages speak to that issue which I think is the real crux of the matter. Does that make sense where I’m going with this?

Maybe I can just add in specific that we know all was created by, and for Christ and that He holds all together. Just to clarify.

That SR1-744 spam needs to go. How many of those are out there? As soon as one does go, another pops up.
