Their concerts are incredible, but for the sheer occasion and drama, nothing will ever top Jean Michel Jarre's Destination Docklands back in 1988. I was there and it was other worldly especially as it was in the 80's. Nothing even close to had been before it.
I’m currently in my “rediscovering my love for the Chem Bros” phase, which means going down the rabbit hole and learning as much about them as I can. I’m only 4 minutes into the video and my mind has been blown several times! The visuals and lighting combination is actually insane! I’ve never seen them live before, but I can’t wait for the day that I do, I know I’ll be in for a treat 🫶🏽
*The Chemical Brothers* along with other major acts like *UNDERWORLD* are beyond amazing when it comes to pushing the realms of visuals, sound, production value and genuine art!
Very very very interesting video, thanks! I love the Chemical Brothers as in their music but seeing this made me realize the amazing live show is an entire different beast! Right when the show ended the only thing I thought was 'Omg can I press the restart button?'
*I HAVE ONLY SEEN CB's ONCE, IN WASH DC(**9:30** CLUB) APPROX '98.....IT WAS AMAZING, ICAN ONLY IMAGINE SEEING IT w/THIS COMPLETE SETUP & THERE SOUND, WOW!!!!! THEY F'in ROCKED*
I had the great pleasure of chatting to Shan Before the gig at Ally Pally, He actually let me jump over the fence so I could go and have a look at the front of house set up and I was absolutely blown away!
You certainly notice the the 3d effects of the lights at the show. Whats telling is that they still use some of the old visuals from their early tracks which show just how much the current stuff has progressed. One question though, how do they synch the visuals precisely with the music?
They say in the video that the visuals controller is prepared for some several thousands of combos of songs. I would assume that the day of show they provide a setlist, setup Abelton or whatever DAW they're sequencing everything with and then follow the set. I saw them at the Greek in LA and their setlist was almost identical to the other shows I watched on YT. The might vary some things but, by and large, it was pretty consistent. When I saw them in the 90s, before all of the syncro visuals, they were a lot looser and did more live remixes since they were using more hardware sequencers and the MPC to drive the shows.
@@JeremiahTrue it definitely has to be sequenced one way or another so that the tracks with vocals or the times when the lights flash to particular notes happen perfectly. It's done so well I think many people take it for granted that it just happens.
@@JeremiahTrue The Band is using MIDI from a session in Logic and from that the crew is using a SMPTE sync signal. But the fluent transitions between songs are very tricky - as there is no pause or any rest in between two different clock signals. When the TimeCode jumps from one clock to an other they have sometimes just so many things running at the same time. This whole sync process is a very fine mechanism and requires to super tidy-up everything and to be really straight in terms of programming.
Fantastic video and great to peak behind the scenes of such an amazing show. Shame that the narrator sounds so monotonous and mispronounces a LOT of the technical words (in particular manufacturer and product names).
Why on earth is the FOH engineer using an XL4?! Dont get me wrong that was the absolute best of the best back in the day but I don't understand why he feels the need to use this just because the band are using analogue kit on stage?
With sound and visuals like that show I probably wouldn't mind if the music came from an OG iPod. Besides, you can't tell if EDM artists are really playing anything live (obviously they aren't playing all of it live) so obsessing about where the sound comes from is beside the point.
I was there this year in the Festhalle Frankfurt. Visually nice, but I was very disappointed by the sound. Too loud, very uneven, no punch, no definition. I've experienced The Chemical Brothers many years ago at an open air festival (Sonne Mond Sterne) and there they sounded excellent. The venue in Frankfurt is surely not easy to handle, but in such a case pushing up volume IMHO is not the best idea... Two days later I saw Björk in Luxemburg (Rockhal) - also with d&b KSL. THIS was amazing!
@@patrickbeart7091 From personal experience. It isn't music that can be recreated live, especially with only one or two people. They have no choice but to pretend to be doing something on stage. A massive video and light show helps keep the audience entertained and distracted.
@@MS.312 So I see you know nothing about this show. I was lucky enough to be backstage on these shows and honestly you dont even know, look up their midi setup, it's all perfectly orchestrated and every show is different soundwise.
Saw them play an "industry night" party at the end of summer in Myrtle Beach, SC. It sucked. Probably had more to do with the crowd... And it was a super downsized setup. But, regardless, it still sucked.
Chemical Brothers was the best show/concert/experience I have ever been to.
I have seen a lot of shows, this was definitely the best overall show i have ever seen

I saw them in Glastonbury in 2015, most incredible gig I've ever been to
Same , saw them last summer at Osheaga in Monteal and I doubt i will ever see a better show.
Get out more
Some of the most creative lighting design I've ever seen, they really put on an outstanding show.

Was there - really mindblowing show
Why can’t all musical artists have this much desire to make their shows as stunning?
Bets show on the planet. Brilliant. Epic. Words cannot even do this show justice you can only experience it. So glad i went to see it!!!
Amazing, didn't realise they worked with Gekko. I worked a couple Gekko shows back when I worked in theatre, they are awesome.

If you still haven't seen them again, GO
Absolutely brilliant. Last time I was so impressed at a production was Pink Floyd Division Bell Tour.
I wish this was longer.
Wow, so much goes into this, I'm yet to witness shows fo this quality

@@EventElevator what a fuck are they talking about? Seems they use the power of chemical Brothers to to top up themselves! Shame..
Hidden Techno there using time code probably
Thank you for sharing this! So cool to see the people that help bring this show to life
Con la boca abierta, el mejor espectáculo musical en vivo desgranado y analizado a nivel técnico, nos encanta
Proppably the best live set up out here
Hope to can see them this year on Opener-Poland
Best Live experience I've ever had!
This is incredible 😍 I hope I can be a part of such a dedicated and creative team one day and program the next gen AV experience 🎆
i saw the start of this many years ago. very very nice. brilliantly described
Amazing work! Thank you guys!

I think the narrator is an "AI" text to speech software
Best show ever. Period.
Really awesome and lovely to see! thanks! Adam, Marcus and the rest truly put in an amazing effort for blowing up peoples craniums
I really wanted to know how they do hey boy hey girl
GMA3 - but we still manage to catch a glimpse of Chamsys in there 😉
Chamsys only for Lasers
I seen the clown on the first tour they ramped up the production, was in Glasgow around 2008, never seen so many people freak out at once 😂
Los mejores. gran puesta en escena.
fun fact : when I went to see the chemical brothers in Glasgow, I missed half of the concert because the line to get drinks was so long
LUAR BIASA BAGUS SEKALI. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is sick. Please do Phish next.
Festhalle Frankfurt! :D
Wish I were able to catch this show live...
Amazing art
at 6:11 what are these 2 guys doing?
彼らの存在がケミカルブラザーズを何倍も良くしている。
You guys should reach Out Perfume , a japanese girl group with a show design years ahead. Their tech team is Rhizomatiks Research
I miss the show 🥺🥺 I wanna go back
amazing

No clue. Mainly because it's a 10 channel show. Compensation I guess
Fuck- Winston has come up in the world from Still Game. Amazing what doors can open by doing a government Back to Work course eh?

Well Festhalle is shit. Rockhal is a perfect space for sound. Easy as that my friend.
My mind was not blow I’ve been to Japan.......
its a Coca Cola ad
Охуенно!
Much ado about nothing, namely their "music".
Gotta have crazy lighting design to distract from the fact that the two guys on stage are literally doing nothing. Why do they even bother showing up?
What
