By fixing the umbilical at the back of the diver’s harness I see that you’ve finally understood that it is safer to bring up a diver in vertical position. Then just one question, why not fix the umbilical at that position before the dive starts instead than on the side of the harness. We in Belgium have worked like that for many years without any problem. This method has for the advantage that the umbilical always floats just above the diver’s head and not in front of it which can in some cases and especially when diving without visibility be a hazard. For the diver, it’s just a matter of habit to easily grab his hose and he gets used to it very rapidly.
