Adaptive coarse-graining for rotary tablet press simulation

This video shows a polydisperse pharmaceutical powder (in violet the API, in yellow the excipient) flowing from the hopper into the feed-frame, and from there into the turret's lids. The coarse-graining factor is halved as the particles enter in two cylindrical regions at the bottom of the hopper. This method allows a coarse resolution of the powder in the big hopper (see top-right inset) and a fine resolution of the powder in the feed-frame.
