No point in paying because they can and would just come back again. Use what they would pay for the ransom to upgrade systems. Sucks but it happens.

I get what you're saying, but you also have to consider just how severe not paying will be. Because if the disruption is that severe, it can shut down business for good.
@@qatarworldcupwinnermessi But what “IF” they pay and the criminals still keep the system hostage, there is no real recourse. Both are bad choices, only one guarantees them a better outcome for tomorrow.
@@lpg12338 That is also a possibility, but a chance that may have to be taken depending on the severity of the situation. It is somewhat similar to a hostage situation involving a human. You can pay the ransom, but it does not guarantee the person taken hostage will be returned safe. It is out of desperation that the payment is made.
