Pretty good review for the most part I enjoy the book as it is. Yeah it’s the second story that makes it middle of the road I am not hating or anything it’s Just I except it a full haunted mask story but it’s not. I think it needs 2 books for it or more for it to be completed.

Yeah the second story originally made me want to give it a 3.5/5 but I couldn’t give it that considering I found it better than all of the books I’ve given a 3.5-3.9 so I bumped it. It is a steam crusher and it isn’t all that good. If it was a standalone book (devins story) with the same plot progression, I probably would’ve given it a meh rating.

The book is okay for me. The Prologue is by far the best part and thats my biggest problem. That first part of the book is so good that the rest just doesn't live up. Not great when the best moment happens within the first 5 minutes of reading

This is one of the more baffling ones. I don't know how I reacted to it the first time but when I reviewed I score it lower than I expected. I don't know why this exists, especially in its current state. It is fundamentally just kinda average but sinks into a light meh by the end. The prologue is a stand out, that death was so awesome. Part 1 was just a lesser Haunted Mask 1, not bad with a few decent moments but it's mostly dull with Lu-Ann not standing out and her motivation is dumb. Part 2 is more original but stretches out and then as it is picking out, it crashes with the ending. The stories don't connect in a natural way and it feels like Stine had no idea what to do with these pieces.
It's not awful from a reading perspective or things like, but it is one of the more poorly thought out ones, with a few interesting moments here and there. So weird it has any hype given it's so clearly lazy in the end lol. I feel bad for poor William.

I’ve heard people accuse this book for being ghostwritten because there’s no way Stine forgets simple things about The Haunted Mask when it’s his favorite book 🤣 forreal though, my initial reaction was to rate it a 3.5/5 which is bottom tier average. But I reconsidered once I had time to go over things in my head. Don’t get me wrong, I think the stories do not blend. It’s silly to have puking pumpkins in a haunted mask book as a main story (the main story of you look at page count). The story is out of place (the pumpkin patch). It’s also a you gotta believe me which I can’t stand. I feel like I’ve seen the story before. Either in The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight, Fifth Grade Zombies or Cry Baby Lane 🤣 I wasn’t impressed. The Lu Ann bit still doesn’t make too much sense given that she ran from Pollys and ended up at the pumpkin patch. How? The world may never know 🤔

@@goosebumpscompletionist7709 He doesn't do ghostwriters in the post 2008 era lol. He forgets details often and this is clearly just a reboot, not a contradiction..

@@SpongeyTheEditor I agree it’s just a reboot. But man it’s funny listening to the theories 🤣🤣 on goodreads there’s a funny one
