"I don't like the red background"
Removes it
SECONDS LATER
"Now, it feels too boring"
Puts a bit of red back in.
Hahaha
I love the way you simplify the ux, my only complaint is when you simplify that much, you seem to also lose a lot of color. Most things become bland and uniform having an overall google vibe to it. Although google has great ux designers, applying their design to everything else makes it feel corporate and lifeless. I think you need to add more color and use the websites color palette a little more effectively trying your best to add in a little more detail even if it doesn't have a purpose.
I understand how you feel, but I think it's a personal/team choice. I personally really like these simplistic (how you call it: Google) designs :)
UI/UX is never an exact science though :)
I kinda agree, but I don't see a problem with it. I feel that these kinds of design make an app (or website) look more professional and serious, which is what I personally like and makes me feel secure and sure when entering an app. Also, this is probably the safest way to do a redesign, since adding even a little more color than he already did can veary easily make the whole thing look bad, so it's really hard to balance out more than 2 or 3 colors.
He's actually using a WYSIWYG to do this, and has fun posting his take of other Websites on RUclips. Hence those evidences you mention. They're due to the limitations of the tool itself, _and_ a personal taste which doesn't necessarily follow guidelines from experienced professionals well aware of other factors than mere looks: ergonomics and the ability to create "behavioral retention" along client's specific color/design chart and content... ONE example : most of his "corrections" involve dark UI/Background, which is the worst for any Website offering more than mere images or pictures (reading clear text on dark background, like white on black, strains the eyes as it has harmful and chronic effects in the long run) ; nobody creates an eCommerce catalog with dark background, for a good reason (unless it'd be for trading visual Art, but not those pages having forms to fill or text to read like policies, warranties etc.) : they don't want their potential clients to leave too soon, nor to cripple their comfort/user experience by potentially straining their eyes... In short, don't be fooled by con artists ;-)
(Less color && whitespace) === awesome design
@@HawkFest Do you know what WYSIWYG software he may use? i would also like to try and create something
Dude I'm a UI/UX designer and this is really well done. Never stop making these videos. You're really putting out valuable content. Keep going! 💪
Damn. I just fell into a completely RUclips rabbit hole with these videos - its just great to see you simplify websites that much and get these stunning results! Cheers
I just realised how much I love your content and yet forgot to appreciate your efforts in the comments. Keep up the good work! Love your style and simplicity of videos. ❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words!
@@Hyperplexed could you please stop oversimplifying everything and sucking the soul out of websites, mate?
As someone who went to school for application development but now works primarily in backend systems administration, this really rekindled that joy I used to have back when I would build and design stuff back in school. Think I may reinstall a text editor on my personal machine and start creating again. Awesome video!
You are definitively the most underrated web dev channel out there. Phenomenal work!
I love how good you made the craigslist one look, you should do more of these types of videos.
And also, how did you change the designs? Did you use html/css or something like figma?
Thanks so much! Yeah so I just use html and css to redesign them from scratch and then when Im editing the videos Im actually overlaying screenshots on top of each other haha probably a more efficient way to do it 😆.
@@Hyperplexed It looks really smooth and satisfying!
As a side question, may I ask why don't you try and make more attention grabbing titles? Like for example "I IMPROVED the design of these famous websites! Here is how!" Or somethig like that?
I'm no expert at this but the current title isn't as attention grabbing. Your contet is amazing and I would love for you to get the attention you deserve!
Great point! I went back and forth so many times on the title/thumbnail and you're right, they didn't end up in a very good spot haha. I went ahead and updated them, hopefully a bit better now 😄
do you have any other dev channels you can recommend?
@@EditingOnPluto Fireship is pretty cool.
I am a web designer myself and you already inspired me! Awesome work dude, you make it really easy to follow your thought process step by step.
I’ve discovered your videos hours ago and can’t stop watching since then. The way you way you describe your thinking process and the final results are amazing and inspiring. I should be upset, given it’s 4 in the morning in my area and your videos are preventing me from sleeping. But I wanted to say you gained a subscriber and as a developer, an admirer!
Your channel is exactly what I need. Your quality is that of a much larger channel and I immediately subbed. Please stick with it I have no doubt you’ll be up there with the other great tech channels in not time.
Yes
I can't thank you enough for re-igniting my love for CSS and design. Props!. Keep up the good work.
this's just amazing. I really hope you make it big.
Amazing video! I started studying hmtl and css around a month ago, and your channel is my greatest source of inspiration.
I just found your channel and I love your app redesigns. I hope you do more and consider doing website redesigns.
Oh my god you're AWESOME! You really took me back to my 10th class days where I was obsessed with designing websites. Infact, you've inspired me to restart designing. Here's a sub and a like AND a share!
I absolutely love your videos! The website redesign shorts inspired me to start learning web development, that was a year ago now, and now I do web design all the time. Thank you for the content!
Bro you're underated, i found you through shorts and I don't regret clicking the link! I love how you redesign sites just for fun, I hope you'll grow more as time goes on. First video I see from you, and differently not the last! You got yourself a loyal new subscriber! Love to you! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Criminally under-viewed channel, you're about to explode! Thanks for such high quality content.
this is probably my favourite channel on all of youtube. keep up the good work
Great way of making front end development approachable for people curious about the field! You earned yourself a subscriber
Love the way you explain each and every part and new design
okay this is epic
;)
Yes 100% agreed
Hello fellow genderless human :)

Sounds like a jacksfilms quote
I'm new in frontend designing, but your videos, that content makes me so inspirited, awesome job dude - can't wait for more
This is definitely one of my favorite channels to have recently discovered .
This is insanely beautiful! Please make more of these videos!!!
I just discovered your channel and already love it so much! The designs are amazing! Keep up the good work!
your channel is absolutely amazing, it inspires me to try doing some front end more seriously - so far it was quite the pain to try to figure out how to do things in html / css but I feel I could "borrow" some things from your approach from the other videos - seemed to make lots of sense!
You are inspiring yourself, Hyperplexed! Excellent content!! 😊
Something so calming about this I love it
Wow, you have an absolute gem of a RUclips channel. Keep up the awesome content!
God damn.. Just found out this channel. Need more of your reviews of such sites. Amazing work
I'm so glad I found this channel. Awesome work you do here 🔥🔥🔥
I really like the price cut-out for the Craigslist redesign! Really neat and tidy.
Seems pretty cool, however it seems you remove a decent amount of website styles while making them better. For instance the rotten tomatoes search bar ended up over simplified which removes some of the character. Completely agree with the movies tabs that could cause confusion.
The steam video also seemed to remove a ton of character from the website and probably needs a careful upgrade.
just discovered this channel, you make absolutely great content! keep it up!
absolute legend, very chill and inspiring videos man keep it up
Actually crazy, Front end developers are so underrated and the skill is deceivingly complex. Love this
Idk, this style of design just seems to remove the character from most of these websites, if there were a way to potentially reintroduce colour while maintaining the old logo I'd be more onboard.
You really nailed these one
This is amazing. Please continue more of these series and playlist them. Keep up with the great vids. Subscribed!
Absolutely fell in love with your content, keep up the good work!
That intro speech was something really inspiring i have to say. Keep up the work.
I love these redesigns!
that speech is ALL of us, through you. you are awesome for that.
Your channel is an absolute gem for us self-taught web dev who has nobody as a mentor. Thanks for doing this, man!
love this man!
Dude, I just land here, and I'm in love with your channel. Keep up the awesome work, you just inspired me a lot!
Dude I love your videos man. Keep it up, you are doing great!
Man this is very helpful 🔥
Wow, what a difference! Great job both designing and especially explaining your thought process!
You made these websites sooo beautiful. loved it 💜
New here, your content are amazing! Super helpful stuff thank you! Channel so underrated!👌
Just the fact that you managed to make Craigslist, out of all websites ever made, usable blows my mind!
this was nice, would love to see more of this stuff c:
If I'd be a big company which does have such kind of app/website, I'd hire you immediately!!!
Love your content. Keep it up!
I love this video concept both in this longer video and on shorts. Keep making more please🙏
This is probably one of the most relatable application of constructive criticism by then applying better UI while also considering the UX
So I'm not a frontend developer but I work for a consumer app and we often ab test different stuff like that.
Amazing video keep up the good work!
Need more of these redesign videos!
Great content bro !
Thank you for existing, I found u in TikTok and I want to follow UX/UI design as my career, finally tiktok was good for something hahaha
These videos crack me up and inspire me to be a better designer, thank you!
btw the padding on the bottom of the navbar is part of the safe area for iphones. it's to ensure page content doesn't get in the way when using the home gestures, but i think it's more relevant in native apps which are fullscreen.
keep up the great video's man. definitely inspiring!
bro you really do an art work ❤
I adore your designs, just discovered you 👋👋 and watched 4 vids in succession!
I really love the design❤
I love how you explain your process every step of the way, I found it inspiring so I think you've accomplished your goal. Very glad RUclips decided to recommend this video!
you inspire me. I just find out your channel. And i currently am training to become a webdesigner. and my carrer is small but anything.. and i mean anything that can get me to understand is like gold. you truely have inspired me today!
Wow great style of video - agree that you're incredibly underrated at the moment
MAN I LOVE THESE REDESIGN VIDEOS!!!!!!
this is really fun to watch you should do more
Oooh this is gonna blow up! Awesome Content
Underrated channel. Hopefully you will get a million sub with in the next year.
He has such a nice taste for UI/UX. New sub! :D
Thanks for this!
I love this series ❤️
It's always satisfying to watch modernizing the old stuffs.
Man oh man. This is so satisfying 😍
Love you man!
Love your channel!
Simply got obsessed with this channel today
I recommend you continue with these videos
Brilliant... I have always wanted to improve low-end website designs
Wow, that was helpful. Thanks.
Yeah... You inspired me to redesign websites, thank you!
Those designs are stuck in the past, its so wild to see em nicely done
YOU ARE UNDERRATED!!!
Just a short and the first minute of this video made me subscribe to you. I like the way you think and communicate your knowledge.
beautiful video!
u totally earned urself a new subscriber
I like how Material Design 3 has very similar elements that you used to redesign the website/app.
Why is this so satisfying?!!!!
Channel is relatively new but I'm just wondering how it has never taken off yet with how great the quality of videos are aside from the knowledge you are sharing.
As a dev, I need more of this content to understand UX and UI. Plz do more
As a UX designer this channel is good and bad at the same time. He's taking elements from inspirations which is good, but he's lacking the amount of analysis of understanding why the UI was designed in its way (UX). For example, the listing card on Craigslist was made to look nicer but removed the feature to swipe left/right to see the next image making the user to click on the ad instead of just browsing. Instead he redesigned to a card he finds to look pretty and flashy. He should've used a design similar to Instagram instead, which allows him a possibility to further add a share icon for users to quickly share the listing if it catches their eye in the initial browsing.
now this is quality content
Amazing job 👍
Hey, I just found out about your channel, It's amazing, Thanks for the great content.
The Craigslist redesign was my favorite -- lots of nifty UI things happening
That Craigslist redesign is *chefs kiss*
