Nostalgic Redwood Drive-in may come down in favor of new housing

- Developers are asking the West Valley City to rezone the popular Redwood Drive-In so they can build housing units on the land.
Edge Homes wants the property rezoned so they can build over 300 housing units, including townhomes, condos and some single-family lots on the drive-in located at 3688 South Redwood Road.
However, hundreds of people are pushing back against the idea, saying too many people depend on the weekly swap meet at the drive-in to make a living.
Jessica Ibarra is one of over 100 swap meet vendors pushing back against the idea of rezoning. She said she grew up selling things at the meet by her mother’s side.

It would be tragic to lose the Drive in!!!
Government doesn't care about historical sites growth and the next new thing....remember back in the 1800 hundreds this was a field and people were subject to seeing the growth and in the time this drive in theater was new it was the growth 👌
We need a local buyer that is willing to keep it and preserve it the way it is. Keep the theater and the Swap meet open.

Fire whoever was supposed to compress (or just turn up) the audio. Can't hear this unless it's turned all the way up, and even then it's lot loud enough to understand the voice over.
This location is about a 20 minute walk away from the soon to arrive "midvalley connector". If we keep the swap meet, we should also build denser housing here. I'm drowning in the unaffordable housing crisis

No, this is a historical site and not many drive-ins are left. Not every piece of land needs to be housing.
