been an expat (Philippines for the last 18 years) i lived in Exeter for 30 years, miss the old place! Have a look at the Catacombs' next time, very interesting and the tunnels off the High street 👍
Congratulations you have just made me homesick lol. Not an easy feat. I grew up in Exeter and wish to point out one thing i feel you missed... At the start of Castle Street, right as you come off the high street is the site of the last independent shop on the high street. It used to be a tobacconist but has diversified to be a coffee shop. My info may be slightly out of date though as i moved away 18 months ago
Very interesting and enjoyable video! I'm visiting Devon and Cornwall from Canada in a couple weeks to explore the villages my grandparents were from. Exeter seems like a gateway to that area. I will definitely spend some time in the city.
I’m in the same boat, job hunting at the moment and desperately trying to relocate from london. Oxford is out for me as too expensive. I love Norwich but a bit out of the way that’s the only thing stopping me regarding Norwich if not that would be my top choice. Worthing is great depending on your age it’s very slow and a bit of a retirement place so all depends
Exeter! Ok I am bias as I grew up there. I live just outside Oxford now but there are good transport links via bus and train, also a thriving community and plenty of interesting places to see and my favorite part... You can reach open fields in just a 30 minute walk from basically anywhere in the city. The farmers market takes place on Thursdays at the junction of South Street, North Street and Fore Street. Speaking of Fore Street it is home to many local independent shops. However it is also a rather steep hill so you may wish to catch a bus to get back up it lol.
Your tour narration is enjoyable and delightful. Thank you.
Amazing video. So interesting and informative.
Great! My dream is to visit this city!
Nice potted history of my home town. Well done.

Actually the bombing really wasn't too severe. The city council's postwar redevelopment plans, on the other hand, were catastrophic.
I'm thinking about relocation to either Exeter, Oxford, Norwich, Hastings or Worthing. Any thoughts on the best one for an average 50 year old man?
