"High Charity" "Fleet of Tranquil Composure" "Fleet of Blessed Veneration" "Fleet of Glorious Interdiction" "Fleet of Holy Respite" "Fleet of Obligatory Tolerance" "Fleet of Particular Justice" "Fleet of Profound Solitude" "Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity"

Yeah, but they're cool in a different way. They invoke feelings of awe inspired religious Fervour and zealotry, similar to traditional nomenclature in Antiquity, the Medieval era or in Christianity and Islam. There's a hint of sneakiness in them. UNSC ships, on the other hand, are just outright badass and triumphant, holding their chin up high.
My favourite is one ive heard a few times In that one epic cutscene from halo 2 where cheif "gives the covvies back their bomb" That unc ship that gets absolutely obliterated by the supercarrier beam as he drifts past it Yea thats apparently the "UNSC Feeling Lucky"
She was a Marathon-class Battlecruiser. Funnily enough one of the only times we see one on-screen in the games. The Syfon-pattern CAS is an Assault Carrier. It hit the Feeling Lucky with one of its two Heavy Plasma Lances. Regret came into the system with 3 Syfon-pattern CAS's and lost two trying to break through to Earth's surface. His own CAS would've been lost too if it didn't jump out above New Mombasa. The Sh'wada-pattern Supercarrier (CSO) is the ship in Halo Reach, which is reminiscent of the Kerel-pattern CAS (largely because it's an upscaled model of the Shadow of Intent). Only one, the Long Night of Solace, is known to exist and was destroyed by Noble Team during Operation UPPERCUT.
"Ready or Not" and "Two for Flinching" sound like Culture Warship names. I could definitely see them fitting in with "Frank Exchange of Views" or "Falling Outside the Normal Moral Constraints"
One of my favorite UNSC ship names and in prefer I’d put them in 1. Forward Unto Dawn 2. In Amber Clad 3. Pillar of Autumn 4. Say My Name 5. Point of No Return and an honorable mention to the UNSC Ascendant Justice
That's true. Halo ships have great names. And I'm suppose Bungie did it in purpose to imitate or follow the example in Alien feanchise to name ships after the ships portrait in Josef Conrad's novels. I love the details and the efforts put in these kind of things. It shows they really care about their work. And what a masterpiece works they made! True artists!
I generally think Halo is over rated but I do love the UNSCM ships and the names of them. Last Rites, Embers Ire, Righteous Indignation. I made these up on a dime but feel like they would fit.
Well, to be honest also Covenant and Forerunner ships have great names. What about Shadow of Intent? Or the Pious Inquisitor? Truth and Reconciliation? Mantle's Approach? Outstanding. 😌👌

Yes! I agree! The UNSC has the best ship names in any scifi universe, the Covenant do alright too but there's something ineffable about the human ship names.
Two for Flinching, ah yes, I served several years on the Two for Flinching as a young man. My cousins served with me, classmates, best friends. Yes sir, it was hard service and I bear the marks from it. But I would gladly go again!
That was great! I really enjoyed that, and I’d like to add one to the mix. Sergeant Johnson had his own warthog that he so eloquently named, “my boot, your ass.“
In Star Trek Online I borrowed the naming convention with some ships. Such as RRW Intoxicated Leprechaun RRW Backwards until Dusk ISS Tyranny of Mercy Just to name a few.
I maintain the position that the names of Halo's OST tracks make great ship names. "Heavy Price Paid", "Pale Horse", "Perchance to Dream", & "Under Cover of Night" are all very fitting for UNSC ships, considering the naming conventions.
Under Cover of Night The Long Run Orbit of Glass Remembrance Honorable Intentions Last of the Brave Dread Intrusion That’s a cool idea. There’s definitely some good ones in there
@@Woodyisasexybeasttechnically Rememberance is already a name for one of the UNSCs frigates. But the frigate only showed up in Halo 3 concept art so idk if it's cannon.
I LOVE using this convention for naming ships! On NMS and Elite: Dangerous, I have a ship named Anywhere But Here. Also, my main handheld on NMS is So I Started Blastin'.
Then there's the UNSC Heart of Midlothian, Say My Name, In Amber Clad, Sagan Blue, Song of the East, Midsummer Night. The names were always so captivating
I was playing the Warhammer Rogue Trader RPG as the Trader and chose "The Obelisk of Winter" as an homage. Doesnt have the same gravitas as "The Pillar of Autumn" but i did enjoy the implication to not mess with my faction or i would make you regret it.
I feel like when you get these sci fi scale navies with tens of thousands of ships you have to start using phrases, full names, references and sentences to name them because you run out of single words.
I write sci-fi as a hobby and I am planning a story that takes place on a massive cargo ship called Attrition's Alibi, which is found mysteriously adrift in space. The name was heavily inspired by Halo.
I can tell. Very cool sounding name. Bonus points for alliteration. I love to write too but I fear AI powered chat bots like chatGPT will be the end of us :(

This was from a machinima but UNSC Mid Summer Night from Rise of The Spartan is a pretty cool name. Pretty much named after one of Shakespeare's plays.
My personal favorite name for a ship that I really hope to see in the Halo franchise one day is “Nemesis Of Destiny” which is also a little poke to Bungie about how much Halo used to kick Destiny out the door, lol, they really need to take Halo back over
In amber clad always sounded really cool to me too and I can’t remember the name of Keyes ship from the Cole protocol but that ship was also named something cool like midsummer night or some shit idk
I think at some point the UNSC ran out of places to name ships after or reserved them for larger capital ships. In the halo wars 1 arcadia cutscene, there is the UNSC texas and belfast, the flagship of the navy is the UNSC Trafalgar. Most of the names are probably given to them by their first captain/crew
To be honest 'Two for flinching ' sounds like a Jereptha ship name. Sounds like it belongs right up there with "I'm just aching to give someone a beat down and today's your lucky day". Yes that's the name of one of their battleships.😂😂😂
And then there’s the black sheep. The Infinity. I still think “here be dragons” would have been 100 times better, but I can see the naming convention they were going for with the eternity and perpetuity sister ships. Still could have sliced it up
A buddy I had a long while ago was playing some MMO starship game and he got one of the massive ships in the game that only a few people in the world have and he wanted help naming it. He asked me to list off starship names for media and was drawn to halo's names. Until he straight up lifted 'All Under Haven' for his own 😂 I told him it's bad luck but he liked the name too much.
