I'll cry... you sang this song beautifully... full of emotion. Great voice... you don't need a huge band and instruments. Just your voice and a guitar to play with.
I have traveled much of the world, and often have been able to return to places I once lived. Except they no longer exist as I remember them. This song simply explains what I see and experience when I return. Sad but true!!!
I need you to record more of the irish classics. Believe it or not, I have a Pandora ststion and Spotify Irish list. My Pandora station was based off The High Kings and it has evolved over the years. It has some new, a lot of old. Even some Stan Rodgers from Canada. Please do some more of these, you do them justice, Parting Glass, Black Velvet Band, Raglan Road, Cavan Girl, Galway Girl, I could go on for hours, maybe a little Darcy's Donkey! Lol and next time you're in Nashville I'll buy you a pint!
Nice Tristan Man! The High Kings are unreal! 'Cavan Girl' is a great song! Love that! I put up the parting glass a couple weeks back. The High Kings have a song called 'Galway To Graceland', amazing acapella ballad. I'm sure you know it but if not check it out! Thanks as always for watching and supporting! I appreciate ya greatly Man! Also, can't believe you know "Darcy's Donkey"!
Absolutely Fantastic version. One of my favourites. Would u mind if I put it in a short video I'm thinking of making up for paddys day Absolutely fantastic either way 🇮🇪
I don't know what it is about this one -- maybe that the chorus is so haunting -- but it never fails to move, though I've heard it a thousand times. Go raibh maith agat.
Brilliant rendition, one of my favourite songs and usually not persuaded by new covers. Fair play! Can anyone here link the picking pattern, recently started to try and learn this on guitar but I am failing to find the picking pattern?
What's the best way to remove a culture? take away the essence of what it means to be Irish, and that essence is found -through their bards and through their music. I wish you youngsters would play more of your medieval instruments, more often too. I'm not Irish, but I am totally fascinated by your music, it shoots straight from the heart.
talking about don't conform, you changed the words from skin as black as coal to his eyes were black as coal, bit like the fairy tale of New York stop changing the words
You are a grand singer but stop trying to be a 1960's singer, be yourself. I have listened to the Dubliners since the early '60s. You are a lovely singer, BE YOURSELF.
Beautiful rendition. I miss traditional tunes such as these.
Beautifully done. I love the old Irish songs and stories.
