I feel so fcking bad for Conrad bc he cares about her so much but just doesn’t know how to express it. I mean he literally is dealing with his mom dying like I don’t think he should’ve dated Belly at all bc of the emotional state he was in. Also he’s just a very reserved person and just doesn’t express his feelings in general and now with his mom dying, he’s back into his shell again bc he’s trying to protect everyone. This is unfortunately the reality of many, many older siblings (myself included) bc we try so hard to protect everyone else (siblings included) and try so so hard to meet up to everyone’s expectations and we’re afraid to let everyone down. Bc Conrad is the eldest and bc I believe he and belly truly belong together, I’ll always be Team Connie ♾️
This scene was extremely heartbreaking bc in the book it hurt to read but watching this made it 10000 times worse 😭😭

I think it's because he just had other stuff on his mind like about Susannah dying and stuff and he also forgot her corsage for prom and was moody and didn't want to dance. Finally Belly couldn't take it anymore and just broke up. You could tell Conrad was hurting when Belly said all of that stuff I felt so bad.
