    Nice video man thank you, I probably watched it 10 times now and I have just installed the same cooler on my 2016 Crosstrek,
    Can you please tell me how much oil did you add to compensate the cooler, I can’t find its capacity anywhere!

    • @ICanDoItMyself

      I think it was about 1 quart. I pumped fluid through the cooler before completely hooking it up.

    Absolutely excellent video! Seriously, thank you so much for making this, and with such explicit details and instructions.
    I am going to basically follow your methods with this as closely as I can for my 2015 Tacoma in the near future.
    I'm sure there are a number of differences between the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas for their coolant systems, but this guide will be more than enough to get me through it.
    Thanks so much!

    Does it make a difference which one of the factory lines you use to tap into

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  Месяц назад

      @CD-hc5ds no. It will just change the order that the fluid goes through. I.e. The factory cooler or aftermarket cooler first.

    I think you forgot the thermostat to take care the low Temperature at winter. Because you will fire up your truck at winter and the transmission need to get warm quick. If you leave your system without the thermostat to open the fluid line at 180 then in winter this transmission gonna take forever to get a good working temperature

    • @ICanDoItMyself

      I don't have that problem. I live in Phoenix. I just got in my truck and the outside temp says 122°F

    Were the inlet/outlet lines to the factory trans cooler marked? I’ve heard they have a red and blue marking. If not did you simple detach them to establish inlet/outlet

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  3 месяца назад

      @danielryan9993 If I remember correctly, the line goes from transmission to radiator to factory trans cooler to aftermarket cooler back to transmission.

    • @danielryan9993
      @danielryan9993 3 месяца назад

      Thanks but I’m asking if they were marked as to which line was sending fluid from the transmission vs which was returning fluid to the transmission.

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  3 месяца назад

      @danielryan9993 no, the lines are not marked. It may be marked on the side of the transmission but because I have a cat shield I can't verify. Then, it would be a matter of following the lines of they are marked. But sorry, I don't remember if the inlet/outlet is marked there either.

    Followed your install, more or less. I did not install the thermostat, as I monitor temps as part of my instrument scan, and I have an OBDII monitor. On my initial test drive, with the transmission thermostat bypassed, I was seeing much lower temps on fairly flat ground (160-170F). OAT was right at 100F. I drove to the top of a mountain pass nearby and saw temps get as high as 204F, with the fan running. Keep in mind I was running 65mph and its about a 4000 foot climb to the top. I have not towed with it yet so I'm interested to see those results. What are your results, what temps are you seeing? As a side note my 18 has 60,000+ miles and its clear that the trans fluid needs changed. That's up next!

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  3 года назад

      I'm at 27k. I have not towed my fifth wheel with it yet, that will be next month and I will be doing another video on it then. Running around in Phoenix temps (even 115-119°) the highest I've seen is 189°. Btw, if you're interested in more Tacoma content, I'm going to be moving all my tacoma videos over to a new channel where I will have Tacoma only content.

    Isnt that a remote transmission coller? Meaning that it does not have to be installed on the front of the oem radiator but in some other place on the vehicle? I thought that the whole purpose of the remote tranny cooler is to not limit an air flow to your original radiator....

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  6 месяцев назад

      You probably could mount it elsewhere, but I'm not sure where else would be a good option. This location was convenient for space of the cooler, plumbing and electrical. And it doesn't have any noticeable effect on airflow through the radiator.

      I'm not familiar with the FJ beyond looks but this setup definitely wouldn't hurt. I've noticed a pretty significant difference in transmission Temps. They're lower and more stable now while towing. Never kicks on in normal driving even in the summer.

  • @Resistculturaldecline

    A most often missed issue is tow ratings are not an absolute. That rating is determined using a trailer that has a given minimal frontal area, as in minimal sqft. or meter/sq. like a flatbed utility with bricks or firewood.
    Travel trailers throw all that out the window, as the wind resistance is more parasitic than the weight. A truck with a rating of 6500lbs for example, isn't meant for anything near that in enclosed trailer weight.

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  2 года назад

      Weight ratings are based more on how much weight they can safely stop and/or prevent from pushing the tow vehicle down a hill. It's not based as much on power.

    • @Resistculturaldecline
      @Resistculturaldecline 2 года назад

      The lines are pressurized like a garden hose. The fluid is pushed through the lines from the transmission, so I’m not seeing why that would matter in any fashion. The cooler looks clean and the routing looks well thought out :)
