    Matt and Lawrence’s deals make chilled’s deals look reasonable.

  • @Zelein
    @Zelein 4 года назад +283

    So let me get this straight.
    Matt and Larr does an immunity deal, effectively excluding Tom and Chilled from gaining a foothold in the game
    Larr then rejects multiple deals from chilled, not understanding how monopoly isn't about the direct value but about actually getting a monopoly
    To counter this Chilled teams up with Tom to give both of them a chance at the game, and utilizes in-game rules that Larr could easily have played around by putting hotels on his browns. Matt almost gives all his property to Tom out of spite for Chilled, but Chilled is the bad guy? Tensions do fly high in Monopoly, but this is some strange logic

      In fairness, Chilled plays EXTREMELY aggressive in Monopoly and dealing with that kind of pressure easily can paint him to be a bad guy in these situations.

    • @damientalrose553

      That's what got me here, too. Chilled couldn't get anyone to make a deal with him so he could get a monopoly, and two players made an agreement together that screwed the other two over, so he had to work the rules to keep houses off the market (when he *finally* could get a monopoly). Then, in a bout of extremely good luck, everyone landed on his properties on the same turn, effectively making Chilled fly into the lead. And what was their response? To use BS tactics of giving properties to other players so as to keep them from Chilled (I wouldn't have accepted the trade, if someone pulled that with me). That's what happened in the previous game of his that I watched. I think that's very underhanded, especially when playing with friends. Chilled outplayed them AND got lucky. They should have been good sports about that.
      If this had been a game I was playing in Chilled's position, I would have quit in the previous video when no one would make a fair (or even in their favor) deal with me for monopolies. I would have said "I'm out, you guys are trading with each other and not with me. I'm not interested in a 3 on 1 or a 2 on 1 on 1 game." This is also why I don't play Monopoly anymore. Eventually, it's too cutthroat to play with friends, or I'm playing at a level beyond the other players, and that's not fair (just did a game like that, warned them, too, and they still wanted to play. They lost, badly.).

    • @Lanoira13

      Exactly. People seem to resort to such bad faith tactics when playing Monopoly with Chilled, despite that he's plenty reasonable and charitable and goes out of his way to not totally screw people, yet then gets painted as evil and unfair and untrustworthy for doing well despite letting people cheat or offering to cripple himself for no reason so they won't cheat and paying people's debts for them instead of bankrupting them and telling people when they're getting fucked over when he could just watch them die.

    • @Sassaparilla
      @Sassaparilla 4 года назад +26

      Well, there is a matter of probability as well. On the turn where everyone landed on it, they all were either extremely close or had the highest chance of landing on it. 7 is the most likely number you can roll on two dice, having 6 different chances to roll it, out of 36. That's a 6th of the possible results. For Matt, he was 7 from Chilled's middle piece, 6 from his first, and 9 from his third. The total chances to land on those would be 15/36, just a little bit from being a 50% chance of him landing on one of those three. During that state of the game, people prefer being in jail, meaning the most powerful corner to control is the Free Parking corner. Having the oranges and reds is practically a death sentence to almost anyone, as the chances of getting through both is extremely low, while the pinks are far less powerful, as they only have a 5/36 chance total of being landed on from Jail. Basically, if a roll on average will take you seven spaces, then you will first land near the Chance/Chest in the Orange Area. Another seven from there is the last Red Lot. Meaning there is a very high chance that within two turns, a player leaving jail will land on a red spot, if not killed by an orange.

      The Redneck Ram - He doesn't play like this no. He looks at the long term gameplay, and doesn't go "I'm gonna outright refuse to trade with this single person for no logical reason". He can see how the game will play out, if he trades someone a high tier monopoly and they have the cash to build up on it, they're going to just win. But if chilled demands cash, then it stalls the game a little bit and gives chilled the chance to recoup. If you watch the monopoly videos with any sense of logic you can see why chilled does the deals he does. He does fair trades, he does Monopoly for Monopoly trades (which larrs stupidly declined), and he lets people play the game. Recall in the video with Shelby he gave her many many offers so that she could come back in the game by offering that last railroad. Of course in return he was going to benefit himself, but he was giving Shelby a chance to come back. Larrs just stalled out the game for no reason, with Matt being the only one with a monopoly, which, if he had played it right and actually built up on it instead of letting it sit there, would have easily won him the game because of Larrs BS.

The average dice roll is around 7 (7 having a ⅙ chance to be rolled), 7 from jail is a RandoCard Slot. 7 spaces from that spot sits the last Red Lot. By probability and logic, due to jail being seen as a late game safe space, The Free Parking Corner is the most deadly part of the board, because there's an ABSURD chance of landing on either when leaving jail. Yellow hits hard, but Red is a more advantageous placement.

Once he does well people always blame him for being a swindler and lier but he just is doing what they all are trying to, trying to take the chance with the odds best in their favor. this game he had horrible luck and he took a risk by giving Lawrence two monopolies and then selling ALL of his assets into one gamble in hopes people would land on it once they were on the right spot on the board. Lawrence could have done the same with the pinks and would have had similar rewards since chilled landed on them the turn before everyone landed on the reds. dont hate the monopoly lord because he sees opportunities others dont, there have been games that he has lost for the same reason. they just are rarer because he knows his odds.

Pleas be aware, I'm not calling anyone an ass in this particular situation, I'm saying it more in general.
      Yes I agree it worked in both of their interests. Cooperation is fair, but its exploiting a rule that nigh no one plays with in a regular game. That's what makes it "dirty". I'm not shunning them, nor saying they shouldn't of worked together. It was necessary for them if they wanted to combat the other two who were being obstinate. I'm just trying to be objective about it.
      I can believe that in the games creation that was one of the ideas, I can especially believe it since there's an entire rule associated with it. But you can't honestly say that that's a common strategy. You saw first hand that the only person who even thought to monopolize the houses was chilled. Even hutch didn't REALIZE he was monopolizing them until he already did. While its permissible in the game, its generally not accepted as "fair" in regards to the other players. You can't say its not seen an unfair, considering every time its happened the person who did it always gets nagged on by the other players. Permissible? Yes. Accepted? Almost never.

    If anything, the immunity should be either a set number of landing on the color, or a set number of turns, or a set number of passing Go.
    And yeah, house stacking is scummy, but it's a legitimate strategy made in the game, otherwise the game would come with enough houses for 4 on each property. I'm fine with playing the house game, ESPECIALLY in a situation like this match.

    So....as someone who enjoyed watching this *IMMENSELY,* I'm going to play devil's advocate to a lot of the "Chilled did nothing wrong and Matt and Larr were being jerks!" talk in the comments.
    Chilled actually made a really big mistake at the start of the game that's hard to notice for those of us who are used to Chilled's antics. Chilled started his "used car salesman" pitch with Larr, like.....turn 3. And kept it going for pretty much the entirety of the game until he got his monopoly. And Chilled's deals at the start were definitely not "even trades." And yes, if you've watched Chilled enough you know you can whittle him down to making fair trades eventually (which he did), but after a used car salesman throws you a half-dozen lackluster pitches, you just kind of zone him out even if the deals start to make sense. Sure, Larr was kinda a jerk about it, but Chilled, unintentionally, caused it. And while I did love watching this (this was amazing), pulling Tom into a separate discord call for that house strat is hands-down the dirtiest play I think I've ever seen. And I'm pretty sure I've seen every game Chilled's ever played. Chilled really has no right to pull rules-lawyer this game, even if the first half of this game frustrated him to no end.
    All that being said, I'm still loving the Monopoly, and I hope Chilled doesn't make Matt and Larr never want to play with him again~

    • @monsterhuntersavage2
      @monsterhuntersavage2 4 года назад

      While I admit that the separate call was dirty as hell, the immunity to be the final two is more dirty I'd argue. Matt and Larr started granting immunity which fucks over the other players. In a game that has more than 4 this can lessen it's impact but in a 2v2 situation it purely put the two stronger players vs the two weaker ones (at the time being Chilled and Tom). I understand Larr's chat was telling him not to trust chilled due to his "reputation" which in lie in reality that chilled is a good player with a good mindset for winning, whether that makes him the villain or not. But in this game he wasn't the antagonist of this since as others stated he played the cleanest trade game he's done in many games. The lack of trades with Chilled was based entirely on character not the value of the deals. I like all the players here but in terms of deals chilled was fairly clean. Luck was on his side in the end after he made the strategic trade at the right time which ensured his victory. To restate though, the separate call was dirty but the idea that people view Chilled as a villain from the start of the game and refuse to trade with him will ultimately take the fun away from the game and stall it basically ensuring that the game goes longer and Chilled cant win. The goal of monopoly is that the best deals and best luck win but playing with the mindset to only trade within 3 people and exclude the 4th based on who they are is entirely BS and ruins the game. A last thing to note is Chilled's "car salesman pitch" is what everyone is essentially doing, the reason he's known for it is because he does it well. He convinces people because he can make the trade seem more profitable for one party, to which is the goal of the game is to essentially "swindle" to win. So to say that he kept this pitch with Larr's is kinda dirty on it's own is kinda void since it was the only way that he could make a trade in the slightest with any party other than Tom who was not apart of the other two's Immunity Alliance. Tom wouldn't have made the trade if he didn't realize that he and by extent chilled had no other way to come back into this game otherwise. So to end this, while I agree that Chilled did a dirty tactic in every sense of the word, it was more-so based on the idea that an initial dirty tactic ensured without this that Tom and Chilled were predetermined to be 4th and 3rd, while Matt and Larr would be 1st and 2nd.

    Their problem is that not only do they keep irrationally focusing on chilled but then they also irrationally blame him for their resultant problems when, if they would have focused on the game instead for a minute, they would have realised that the problem is not chilled but the fact they keep robbing each other blind and then resort to hypocrisy which locks down their gears for the rest of the game.

    Last video's comments: Lawrence is stupid for not taking the (unnecessary) Monopoly-for-Monopoly trade
    This video: Chilled effectively secures victory by getting that Monopoly
    Yea, I wonder why Lawrence was hesitant to give Chilled the Reds...

    30:30 - 30:33 Wait wait waiwaiwaiwait... really? I mean... seriously? Giving your properties to someone else before declaring bankruptcy is an unsportsmanlike as hell, unfair as hell, against the spirit of the game as hell, and malicious as hell move AND It's basically exploiting the rules. *AND* Chilled is the bad guy? I mean... really? Man... I wouldn't want to play with people like this again, if they would do stuff like this and do for reals, do it seriously & maliciously, non-jokingly (like Ikky did in the previous episode, where she did it it not out of spite and malicious intent, but as a more of a joke and a sweet gesture towards Ethan who helped her before, AND it wasn't that much of a deal there at all because Chilled was in better spot and it didn't impacted the game all that much at all, while here, it could make all the difference)...

    Lawrence fucked up twice in this; one that would’ve influenced the game and one the ultimately didn’t. 1. He should’ve had enough in the bank to afford the pink. At that stage, he would’ve had enough money to buy it and then, with mortgages had enough money (and houses) to build up on both the browns and pinks, and would’ve NEVER traded any monopolies to either Tom or Chilled, and by odds would’ve overwhelmed Matt. 2. He could’ve gotten rid of houses on his browns to give them up to Matt to be able to build up, as at the time Chilled couldn’t afford them, and Tom had all 4 houses on his monopoly. Ultimately, in the trifecta turn where Chilled turned over $2100, no one landed on the oranges prior (most importantly Chilled didn’t, so he wouldnt be forced into getting rid of houses, and then getting less from the others). Monopoly is a harsh game, Chilled was dealt a mediocre hand, and was forced into pushing difficult deals for over an hour to give himself a chance, and then risked it all on the hope of the dice rolls and the relationship he developed with Tom as his only chance to win the game. And here we are. Well played Chilly Willy. Bravo, bello ragazzo.

    At the end of the day. Chilled wants the game to be fun for everyone. He's made deals in past games to the benefit of other players. Then Chilled gets an unfair assessment by dickheads fans. He plays to have fun. Even if he has to swindle at times. Every Swindle in this game WAS WELL DESERVED.

    I'm not gonna lie, this immunity shit is the dumbest thing ever. What's next? Clue, but we make deals where we tell each other our cards? Monopoly is a risk taking game. If those risks screw you over, that's the nature of the game.

  • @dragostplays2745
    @dragostplays2745 4 года назад +1

    Immunity should only last for the first time they land on, if we're going to start adding that. Otherwise the game becomes unfairly

    This summarizes Larr’s stupid deals in the first vid pretty well.
    Larr not trading with Chilled in order to get both monopolies when he dies, is like waiting for someone to die of natural causes while ignoring the guy you gave a gun to and expecting him not to shoot you next.
    Pretty dumb

    Matt could have built houses on his oranges at any time. He had the funds early, and he could have taken the game with that moronic monopoly deal that Lawrence made. Don't even complain about that shit, you could have done what chilled did at any time and gotten almost as much money from anyone who landed on it.
