Just FYI, Sealed Resin Loop lets you dodge out of Monorail's recoil animation. This straight up removes the most risky part of using the gun, which is getting hit after you shoot. IMO the maximum comfort build is Gunfire Security Lanyard, Sealed Resin Loop, Archer's Crest, Leaking Gemstone, open slot. Basically just lets you use Monorail like a really big bow. You won't get the big funny numbers, but it takes zero skill to use the weapon this way and your DPS isn't horrible since you never need to reload.
Love it. I tried running a Monorail gun build solo on Apocalypse and it was miserable 😂, so pretty much thought the same thing, need coop to take aggro. Lookin forward to tryin it out.
About the invader option, you can switch phantom pain ring with ring of omens (evasion costs grey health instead of stamina) and you can add the ring of the damned (You get 40% damage for turning all your hp into gray health, and +5% critic chance if gray health is 50% or higher). For the relic, you can use the shield heart
Yeah I tested all that but this setup does not give more damage. The flat increase to damage from ring of the damned does very little to increase the damage and we already have about 90% crit chance. The biggest things that can elevate the damage of this gun are crit and weakspot damage.
edit: Nevermind, that was v1 of the build :D Doesn't Monorail get more damage the more it is charged? Wouldn't even faster charge yield more damage? Why not a Warden with a Combat Drone? You'll be missing out on +15% Fire Rate and 5% Critical Chance, but it's same damage bonus (25% All Damage vs 25% Ranged Damage), plus Combat Drone gives you -10% Firearm Charge Time. As far as I know, Bulletstorm skill of Gunslinger does not affect non-bow charged weapons. Anyway, funny shit, thanks for sharing =)
I made a monorail build pretty similar to y'alls first build, except I run Invader as my primary and Hunter as my secondary. I use the skills Wormhole for the 300% damage boost you get (and to help position myself better) and Hunter's cloak for the 50% damage boost (and to hide myself better from bosses), alongside different trinkets except Archer's Crest. With a good shot I can hit 40K~ with my damage topping out at 57K~, and that's without a prism that boosts my gun damage. However I will say I still mainly run this build on CooP with my buddy even though I'm able to use the new hidden black suit from the DLC because it still doesn't have much survivability. Though it is pretty funny to walk up to a boss like Sha'Hala, The Custodian's Eye, The Ravager, Bloat King, The Nightweaver, etc. and just two shot them.
Btw, you don't need to run a grey health setup to hit these numbers. Practicality aside, Chaos Gaming was able to crit for 124k on dummies with Zero Hour, Archer's Crest, Probability Cord, Ring of Flawed Beauty, Burden of the Destroyer + Brightstone usage. He is also using the 1.25x weakspot legendary instead of the 75% ranged damage. I'm not sure at which point, but it appears 1.25x will out damage the 75% ranged legendary as long as you are only hitting weakspots. It's one of only a few multiplicative damage sources.
Also the bloodless heart can block the overcharge explosion damage for yourself so it make it way easier at least to train :) I honestly still don't understand how that first clip was made tho, how can the weapon be this overcharged ? I've tried a lot of things with it and could never get that much frames after the bar was filled
With the mod active its always the same amount of time you have to overcharge. The higher the charge speed the more overcharged it can become though. Also things like brightstone etc increase the damage tremendously.
Alright, I guess I'll have to take a closer look on how the mod affect it then ! I mostly tried to build without depending on the mod because I was looking to make it effective on the whole walktrough. Thanks for the answer !
Bulletstorm does not seem to give monorail more crit chance i compared 200 shots with 10% crit and 200 shots with 10% + 15% (bulletstorm) but both tests gave me about the same amount of crits. Is there an alternative secondary class that would provide additional crit or dmg?
Can you do a dark matter gauntlet build? I got one from the toolkit that can do 80k without the perfect prisms but I wonder how much you can min max it
Im not sure if this is known but for my build the rune pistol mod lets you do more damage if you dont have mutator equipped, i got up to 10k dps with mutator and 11k without... if you have an answer for this lmk 😁
I thought it would be nice to combine it with Hunter + Archon, as Archon's perk Amplify gives you +50% mod damage... but this somehow does not have any effect on the Monorails damage when I activate its mod. Anyone knows why? Or is this a bug
That's because the mod itself does no damage so the scaling from archon does not apply. The same happens with some other mods too. It's just not a great combination
Does anyone know if the Exhaust Valve prevents this thing from booming yourself? Currently trying to get my hands on that amulet so haven't been able to test it
Anything is possible when you have mutations for weakspot damage, crit damage, ranged crit chance, more ranged damage and a 75% damage increase to ranged damage. Showing a build that most players won't be able to get due to the insane amount of luck needed.
That might be right. But the problem with grey HP is that it goes away after some time so it would be great for boss rush but my setup is more consistent overall for normal gameplay. I really like your idea though and I will test it a lot today :)
When my friend pulls out the monorail i just use my band-aid build and keep reviving him if he goes down, i dont need damage if its dead in 10 seconds Lmfao
It doesn't require it but it does help a lot. It's a chase goal so it's not very easy to obtain but I have to agree that getting to 51 is painful and they should change it

Well the prism just enhances what is already there. All the tech is fitted into the build and the prism is just a stat stick to be honest. But I see what you mean, go play dbz if that is more fun to you, that's the healthy thing to do.

That's a nice setup. The prism is nice but it's not needed for this gun to work

The other setup with hunter and invader gives the most possible DPS but is much more difficult to use

Yeah I agree. I would hope to see some big buffs to LMG, Chicago and blackmaw. They are lacking compared to the new stuff

You can double your damage if you manage to apply Bore and hit the ennemy on bore and weakspot in one hit, way harder to do it but double damage haha

actually, the only thing that needs more luck for is the 75% ranged damage. the rest can be get by using the feeding system
It's not that difficult and everything I have shown also works without the prism it just does less damage

There is absolutely zero luck needed in getting the fusions you want. Legendary perk on the other hand is another story

you could just use paper heart to get 100% grey healt to proc amulet its better than broken heart since you dont need any ring to proc grey health
