In 1971 this was the best of times. Our grandparents lived out of town unfortunately. But at Christmas time would let my two brothers and myself pick out a few things from the Sears catalog. We would visit them in Southern California and get to have Christmas with them. The toys we picked out would be wrapped under the tree. 😂 we were raised on a small farm and were not spoiled . Our parents did not just buy us stuff everyday like some kids parents.so this was big neat stuff. My brothers and I would share our toys too. I remember lots of cool toys from your video. The cox planes, wood burning kits, BB guns, power mites the power tools. View master. Tape recorders. Lots of learning experimenting types of toys. Thank you for sharing your catalog. Mark
Tangible and thought provoking games and toys. Your mind as a child was better for attempting/trying/playing these well planned products as a kid. They all made you think for yourself. The Simpsons-Sears in my Canadian home town had a righteous records and tapes section, I spent almost every Saturday there in the mid-70s. Thumbing through future classics. I never saw 'unicycles' in my Canadian Wish Book. I recall the model trains selection in the '71 Canadian Wish Book was more extensive.
Very enjoyable video. I love your story about creating the jump ramp for your bikes! On the arts and crafts page is one of my favorite "toy" that my sisters and I got for Christmas that year. It is the spin art. It came with mini paper canvases and squeeze bottles of paint. You placed a card on the spinner, squeezed different colors of paint on the canvas and turned on the spinner to create endless varieties of a sort of centrifugal force paintings. It was so much fun!
Used to have 1970 through 1976 Sears, JC Penney and Wards Christmas toy catalogs until a water pipe flooded the room where they were kept. Miss having the old toy catalogs to look at and reminisce. Thank you for you videos, they do bring back fond memories. Maybe I can find some replacement catalogs at a garage sale or flea market.
24:51 I had that Jane West doll with the horse, loved it! The accessories were very well made, and now I see that it was only $5.64 Lol ah the good old days!! :-D
25:30 I had that G.I. Joe in the upper left in the camo fatigues, and two viewmasters, one red and one bakelite brown, which I now believe to have been my dad's.
awsome video. they rarely sell crafting kits to kids these day because there more into technology then into crafting items with there own hands like the good old days
They still sell build stuff but there is no imagination anymore and it's all plastic no metal or tools. I had a wood working kit that had a little power saw and screw drivers all kinda pokey sharp things and I survived just fine!! 😀
I'm sure there are some kids these days that get into stuff like chemistry sets but the ones like we had back then are hard if not impossible to find now. as far as i know. if anyone has a lead on them please post it here . thanks

I had that Matchbox Steer & Go, that was in the catalog. I drove that thing until it wouldn't work anymore. Great memories.
The Hippity Hop really was fun.
Also, those egg-shaped plastic wheels you sat in and rolled, head over heels... forget the name but it was fun.
Always love watching your vids. Thank you!
thank you for your relaxing videos

The very most beginning of Sears downfall, was the cease of their Wishbook!! A damn shame! I still miss it!
I had that red jaguar pedal car as a kid.
I had the stingwray peddle car, it was $10. I wore that thing out. Love those memories, much simpler time.
It's so good 😊 ASD

I had a hoppity hoarse back in about 1973, it was great but it was always going flat.
I had the microscope set, there it is! However, I remember getting the GI Joe and Helicopter in previous years. I guess they were around a while.
Frohe Weihnachten und ein gesundes neues Jahr ! :-)
I'm watching this in my Winnie the Pooh sleeping bag while drinking hot chocolate.
The View-Master system was introduced in 1939, four years after the advent of Kodachrome color film.
Yay!
haha we used to do the same thing. Have 5-6 kids lay in front of a ramp and jump them on our bikes.
+hayex32 It's a wonder we didn't hurt someone. Of course the last couple of kids were made to wear football helmets in case I landed on their heads.
Jump 6 kids I rememberyou was so good

My son asked for a crane like that for his sand box and I have never seen one!

Have you tried any "modern" board games like Ticket to Ride or Settlers of Catan?
+cavekid27 I have played Ticket to Ride and found it to be quite fun.
