I decided to draw along with you on this one! It's my version of what you often recommend of copying other artists that you like. I'm sure it will help me improve, because it's easier to copy another drawing where the details are already simplified than it is to draw from a photo. I like the fact that your drawings are at real-time speed, because I could see every step.
I like your style and technique. Also I like your humility when you admit errors and difficulties that happen also to very experienced artists like you. Just some observations: I think doing 3/4 views is more difficult than front view as the nose might interfere with the outline. The other thing: changing the angles of mouth and eyes you took off at least 20 years off the subject.
Could you do a video with a live subject or a series? I'd like to see your work process as the subject is moving talking etc. How you pick the pose and map everthing out live compared to working off a photo. I love your real time informative videos. Thanks
I practiced Caricatures for several months, I don’t remember how many, before I applied for a job with the Disney World Caricatures artists. Then I worked at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s resorts for maybe a year before I was comfortable doing my own events. I don’t remember the exact timeframe. I stayed at Disney World for about five years, and did my own events during that same time, now, I just do my own events. Thank you for the question!
@@jamesthomas1123 It's been a hobby of mine drawing cartoon figures for years off and on but recently have been wanting to practice on caricature drawing, which is hard to because of my full-time job. Do you know of any large corporations that hire caricature artists besides Disney?
There are many amusement parks that hire Caricature artists. Disney, Busch gardens, Seaworld, Universal Studios, islands of adventure, Six Flags, and there are many others that I’m not familiar with in different states. 👍😎 What state are you from?
If I’m at an event, I draw the teeth in or not based on how much time I have and how many people I need to draw. If I’m at home drawing, I draw the teeth in when I feel like it. Thank you!

How long did you practice doing caricatures before you were comfortable and confident doing live carticatures at events and such?
