Decluttering never ends. I just let two grown grandchildren go through my bird collection. One mentioned the birds decorating my house were something he always remembered. I had packed all in a box about a year ago. I brought them out from a storage shelf and they both took all they wanted. I'm happy to have learned they wanted them, and now have them.😊
That is great! Especially that they have fond memories from the decorations =) I love decorating with things that have a history or bring back memories.
Thanks for the monthly declutter video! Love watching you and your mother collaborating! I'm your mother's age and have been decluttered a lot of stuff, but hearing her comments and challenges is very helpful and keeps me going! The layers of items that were important and now aren't and then the new stuff that aren't useful and helpful - well, as I watch you two, it encourages me to keep tossing, donating, or giving stuff away.
In July both our kids and their families were here and our son and daughter when through the seashell and rock collection from a great uncle - it was fun for us to have, but it's a delight to pass it on!
Just when I thought I was a minimalist, I was able to fill my car with donations! A local animal rescue was calling for new and gently used items to sell and raise funds for several cats in their care that required dental work. I'm able to really focus and see the excess when I want to help a good cause.
I love what was said about the newspaper being kept for the mom and not the child. My parents have given me a few baby clothes that I had, but they are not really something I could use for my kids and I dont have any sentimental attachment like they do. I think its great to keep baby items and childhood art, as along as you realize that anything that comes before a certain age is for you and your memories and not for theirs.
Yes!! My mom kept boxes and boxes of my preschool age drawings and clothes and things and one day when I was 34 or 35 her basement flooded and she dropped off 7 or 8 boxes of things that were wet. She told me to go through them and keep what I wanted and get rid of the rest. I had to act fast so they wouldn’t mold. When I opened the boxes I realized that I didn’t remember any of it. I enjoyed going through it all anyway, but I didn’t feel attached to any of it. After the first pass through I winnowed it down to 1 box, but a couple months later I threw the rest of it away. My mom seemed disappointed that I didn’t keep more but I told her I enjoyed it but I didn’t need to keep it.
I had to laugh about the anatomy book. I have a four year old grandson who is so interested in anatomy and he would probably love that book. 😂 I really enjoy all of your videos and look forward to them coming out. My favorite are the ones with your mom, because she is about my age and is so relatable. I love her honesty and humor. I also love seeing the two of you interact. You are truly blessed!
Great motivation thank you! My parents are downsizing and I am encouraging them to declutter before they move. I love the freedom that comes from owning less and creating space in my home.
Your Mom is so much fun :) That part where she says "you can you this bib for me one day" and pretend drools- hahaha! I needed that laugh. She is a hoot :)
My parents had a kids’ squeaky toy that we kids’ played with. They babysat my niece when she was a baby. My nieces was terrified of it. They used it as a pseudo baby gate. They put it under an end table where there were a lot of cords. She wouldn’t go near it. So it kept her from pulling a lamp down, etc.
Sunday with Shannon 🤗With mom as our favourite guest ❣️it’s fantastic that we have the two views as I’m in similar stages and I have such a hard time with those keepsakes really appreciate both points of views and honesty have a fantastic Sunday 😘❣️🇨🇦✌🏻
I gave my daughters some more of my jewelry i no longer wear today. One daughter was already wearing a necklace my husband bought me many years ago....was so lovely to see x
My MIL kept one small closet of toys over the years. The kids knew they could pull out anything to play with but it went back in the closet when we went home. The items that were played with the most at Nanny's house were a stack of plastic cups she kept from our wedding rehearsal dinner. For some reason the kids spent years stacking and re-stacking them lol.
I can so relate to your mom. I have 7 grandkids. I keep lots of things for them at my house. It’s been a little hard to declutter things as they have outgrown them. But I realize there is no reason to hold onto things someone else can use!
I love when you and your mom declutter! What helps me is that you give your thoughts on why you are declutter ing the items. It is so encouraging. Love you both. Have a wonderful week! ❤️🤗
Thanks, Shannon and Cathy! I also kept a newspaper from the day each of my kids were born, but only the front page. I've made each of them a small memory box and have included the newspaper. It folds up nicely and they still have a record of what was happening in the world the day they were born. Now on to the grandkids' toys ...
Lol, your mom saying she could use the pitcher to water plants was exactly what I thought. I love when she's on and seeing 2 generations of items and thoughts.
Great job de-cluttering girls !! Always more you can find !! I keep a box by the closet too and always put more in it and when it's full, donate !! Thanks for sharing !! Always love your Mother and Daughter videos !!
I love that you’re actually DECLUTTER the stuff of the kids. My kids’ grandparents (both sides) just dumped the whole baby stuff at our house recently and let US deal with it - after the kids saw the stuff. Now we have a „cow makes…“ sound book again - for my 4.5yo 😂 But at least we stuck to the deal that they had to declutter something else for the grandparents stuff they wanted to keep. I just took photos from my grandma… There are persons I almost never met, but my father told me stories about my great aunt, my grandma’s youth… that made them valuable. There are memory pieces I miss from my childhood. My family started new when I was about almost 7yo. Very few things are saved from before. I know my mother had her mother pass and ultrasound pictures. We used to look at them together when I was very little - lost. My first dolls. Lost. Plushies - my husband gifted my oldest plushies to me. Just to remind everyone struggling that it’s OK to keep a box of memories and display and cherish them.
I love the energy between you two. So fun to listen to you giggle about why you’re getting rid of things, or why you held into something. So relatable. Shannon, your declutter basket is getting well worn! It’s earning its keep!
Loooove decluttering 😊 oh your mum was so funny with her M shirt. So recognasible 😂 I had S and now XL oh yeh that does aging with you. But don't care, live a joyful life ⚘👋🫂
I had to laugh when your mom mentioned all the ways that pitcher could be used. I thought the same thing, watering plants, use in the bathtub for kids hair, etc. Your mom and I are close in age..I wonder if it's mainly our generation Lol. I would have been saying those little shorts are when that sweet boy was little, and then I would have stuck them in the sentimental box 😂 Another good video! Thanks Ladies!
Haha we think the same! My mom and I talked about all the ways we could use the pitcher! The bath was actually mentioned LOL. But in the end I already have all those things and didn't want to add one more to the pile.
Decluttering is so satisfying! I love sharing this passion with you. In regards to toys and books for grandchildren, I keep our collection quite simple and minimal and our 7 young grandkids are content! I enjoy you two! Greetings from Winnipeg, MB🇨🇦
Great job ladies😊I’m still decluttering after my move… 6 van loads went off to donation in last 3 weeks and I’m still going through boxes. I’m still not completely done. Thanks for your inspiration.
Love to see you all decluttering. Inspiration! I loved the wooden cars. Very cool. And re: the newspaper from the day Shannon was born. I have the torn corner with the date & publication, and I keep it in my jewelry box. It came from my grandma, and my mom had it in her jewelry box for many years.
Love your mom, I knew you and your mom remind me of myself and my daughter. My girl was also born in 1983 and I am probably your mom's age. On that note I am going to go declutter my grandkids toys right now.
Just have to say something about the red, white, and blue tank top. You definitely could have returned that. I keep ALL tags from any clothing I buy, and receipts. If something fit when I bought it, but didn't fit after washing properly, I always return it and tell them the item is defective and explain. Every single time, and every store, takes it back. No more wasting my money. Plus, how are companies supposed to do better if everyone just accepts bad products?! It's the consumers responsibility to give feedback when a product doesn't work. Ok, that's all I have to say, LOL. LOVE you and your mom together :)
I do just the same, keep the Tags in a small box for a while, making it easier to return faulty goods. I've worked too hard all my life, to throw my cash away!
I have done this in the past and I should have thought about that! I guess I just felt like since it was inexpensive (to a degree) I didn't want to cause a scene LOL. I always feel bad for the workers that have to deal with all this stuff.
I too have to declutter the yoga mat I bought... before 2020! lol! How many times have I used it? Maybe once! lol! I did spend last week decluttering some items I've had for years! Yes, I've decorated with these pieces. Now, I'm tired of dusting them! I amazed myself that I *finally* let it all go! I also cleaned out my hutch (I have one empty drawer and one empty shelf!) as well as my desk (it's empty!) I keep it because it holds books. But inside the desk? EMPTY! I love it!

I feel sad saying I agree LOL! But it's so true. My mom and I have this conversation all the time. It is impossible to find clothes that last more than a year. Even expensive jeans are wearing out by the end of one year!
Our local veterinarian takes donations of towels and blankets for the animals in their care. Just letting you know if you have one in your arean they would appreciate the baby blankets and towels.......
I can always find items to declutter. Where do they keep coming from? I think the clutter fairy drops things off during the night, since I do next to no shopping.
About your poll on favorite type of content, I chose Everything. I truly do enjoy all of your content. Also I find myself skipping some of the videos posted by people who ONLY show decluttering videos.
I’ve recently made a conscious decision not to buy any clothes which have the “white” inside such as printed tops as they always fade and are poor quality it’s hard though as there’s a lot of cheap fashion out there

My daughter had the same anatomy book years and years ago and she found the book very interesting! And this year she finished medical school!🎉
Your mom’s decluttering muscles are getting strong.
Ladies I have been decluttering my house for 5 years and I continue to find more to get rid of. Keep showing these videos because they are motivating
These are my favorite videos. I love how you keep things on track for decluttering and your mom’s commentary is so funny!
I declutted a mil little things this yr + coffee table, butcher block knives & downsized 1 car! Shannon makes me brave!
Yes I like that she does make us brave ❣️

As a librarian, I just want to say your local library would probably be thrilled to have that puzzle and the books too😊
Take photos…then you can decide and they won’t fade…I love that your Mom thought to save that….😊
I really found your video helpful and supportive. So many are pushy or make a person feel like a hoarder if they don't toss stuff
Kohl’s accepts returns up to 90 days! No questions asked. If you don’t have your receipt, they will look it up on your Kohl’s card! 👍

You and your mom are my favorites! Many youtubers change overtime, they become less relatable somehow. You two are a breath of fresh air 💖
Thank you so much!!
Thanks - always enjoy seeing you and your Mom declutter together!
Your mom has a strong muscle 💪 to declutter thanks to your motivation. Love the video 🥰💕
It’s always surprising how much we find to donate!
Lol, your mom saying she could use the pitcher to water plants was exactly what I thought. I love when she's on and seeing 2 generations of items and thoughts.
I think we all do that lol. Try to think of every possible situation where we could use something. =)
Absolutely...reuse is better that purchasing later.
Love every declutter session with your mom!
Thank you!
You two crack me up! Your expressions and your mom always asking if you want it! NO!!!😃😃😃 Hi from SC!🏖🏖🏖
