- The 61st Bansha Agricultural and Industrial Annual one-day Show took place on Wednesday 23rd August. The weather was dry and cloudy and there was a great turnout of competitors and spectators.
The day was a success with a wide variety of competitions, children’s amusements, trade stands and attractions for all the family to enjoy.
The events, competitions and attractions included: farm produce, vegetables, fruit, eggs. arts and crafts, baking, flower arranging, a children’s play area, ponies and horses, amusements, entertainment, cattle and sheep, a selection of food stalls, craft and gift stalls, agricultural trade stalls, a Dog show, Show jumping and sheep dog trials.
Ponies and horses were entered into various Riding Competitions, and ridden to display their training and athletic ability, manners and temperament. Judges awarded prizes to the first, second and third winners.
Show Jumping Competitions where the ponies or horses are scored, based on a numerical score determined by whether the pony or horse attempts the jump, clears it, and finishes the course in the allotted time.
In the marquee there were competitions for: farm produce, baking, arts and crafts, flower displays and photographs
The Bansha Tidy Towns committee stand displayed their efforts and great work, improving the appearance of Bansha.
Children’s Play Area & Amusements. Included a giant inflatable slide, merry-go-round, fairground reverse Bungee Jump and Play Farm.
Vintage Cars & Tractors area where collectors got to show off their old cars and tractors.
The livestock show comprised sheep and cattle. The animals were exhibited and judged on their appearance, conformation and traits. The cattle were meticulously groomed.
Sheep Dog Trials where handlers directed their sheep dogs to move sheep around a field, fences, gates, and enclosures.
The shows committee, organizers, sponsors, volunteers, those from the Parish who donated, the judges, those who provided the winning cups and trophies and the land owners are to be commended for their generosity and efforts. The followers, participants, competitors, spectators and trade stands salespersons helped to make the day a success.
