True, but when you look at her history with men, if they'd hooked up earlier, it's entirely possible that it wouldn't have worked out between them. She had a history of jumping into bed before getting to know them. With Leonard, they were friends before and after they started going out. Sure, it took her a long time to realize how good a catch he was, but it worked out for the best.

Call her an idiot to then take control of the situation and then get her to vent and then relax. Then go back home to your PC and tell your mates how much of a clown she is. That's what I have done and that's what I'd do again.

But the problem is that you won't know until it's too late. It can be hard to decipher a persons true intentions when manipulation can look like genuine kindness. Sometimes you really only know after the mask falls off. Now, obviously people are on a spectrum of vulnerability to manipulation and it looks like Penny's character, at least in the beginning season(s), is ultra vulnerable to this. This isn't her fault.
Most women who end up in Penny's situation didn't knowingly choose a jerk. They thought they were picking a good person, but were being manipulated into thinking so. Therefore, blame falls on the men who aren't honest about who they really are rather than the woman just looking for someone they like.

Also, how is Leonard not shallow? It's pretty clear in the early seasons that the only reason Penny is hanging out with them is because they think she's hot. Whereas, with Penny, she mostly spends time with them because she actually likes them. If Penny was ugly/average, nobody would've paid any mind to her. And I mean ANY mind to her. She wanted her laptop fixed? Nope. Free takeout? Nope. This foundation as well as any perks you could argue that she got (because I know you're gonna argue that) lasts SOLELY on the backbone of men's shallowness. It ALL comes back to men and their flaws. The foundation of Penny's entire relationship with the boys, at least in the beginning, is based on pure shallowness. Of course, this is NEVER criticized because a mans shallowness is NEVER questioned. It's just "how they are".
The boys don't have ugly girls that are their friends. The ONLY women these men will even CONSIDER talking to are 8+ out of 10's. Sheldon, being almost devoid of any sexuality, is the exception. As it is mans sexuality that is his flaw and introduces his shallow, sad behaviors. Penny, on the other hand, doesn't judge a book by its cover and is immediately kind, thoughtful, and talkative to these unattractive men.
Because Penny doesn't have ulterior motives. Men do. Penny will befriend anyone ugly or beautiful. Men don't. Men will not talk to ugly women because the possibility of having sex with them is unappealing. And sadly, that's all it really boils down to for most men: sex. Ooga booga. Whereas women exist for more fulfilling things.

I would assume they were multiple cuts, using the initial or ideal audio tracks of laughter from the audience. With a decent budget set of microphones, it's not at all difficult to record an audience's laughs without hearing the actors' voices in between. This is accomplished by different types of microphones, namely condenser mics.
Basically, you can set up mics to only record a certain area while blocking sound from anywhere around it. With multiple mics, you can expand this area. Also, you can isolate individual voices.
With that power, editors can copy and paste whichever takes they want to, and make the transitions so smooth it can trick you into thinking it's the first take. These people have probably taken extensive classes and have access to expensive, high-quality equipment.
Also, it's pretty common for sitcoms to have multiple takes for most of their scenes, just for one episode.
That's Hollywood for you.
