So Raj is a billionaire and a good academic better than Howard and Leonard and also the best funny and romantic guy in the group and yet somehow he ended up single.
The writers got a huge amount of backlash from long time viewers of the show as the marry the girlfriend thing got bigger and bigger. The writers also got lazy. Keeping the Raj can't keep a girl theme going was an easy way to deal with the fan complaints and to do less new work.
Perhaps you didn’t notice that he is also a preening, whining, mama’s boy with a host of social insecurities and an absence of testosterone. Hardly high on most women’s list of qualities they’re looking for in a man. That said, he is also a visible minority in a largely ghost white cast. The racial balance forces him to be the amusing sidekick to stories. Throw in two or three black professors, five or six Asian ones, and a couple more Indian ones (more closely reflecting the faculty of the university) and Raj would have been able to “Aamir Khan”-up the show and the writers would have given him a much more central and interesting role.
