Yes to the T shirt bros at our bins. They travel in packs...lol. They can rifle through a bin faster than fire, clothes flying everywhere. They dig to the bottom and flip piles over. A few months ago I found a cool vintage shirt, actually, it was a sweatshirt, that one young man saw me holding up inspecting and he rushed over and offered me $35 on the spot if I would give it to him. I'll take that deal all day long. He said it was to go in his own personal collection. I later looked it up and glad I took his cash...lol

My top brands, likely because of where I live and what I can find in NC and SC and FL where I predominantly thrift ARE Talbots, Chicos, and Ralph Lauren. And I think out of these, Ralph Lauren is probably considered to have the best sell through rate. So yay for you on the RL band wagon. Talbots and Chicos needs to be unique, trendy, newer style, and plus size is best but if you meet those first 3 criteria will sell well because it is SO pricey new

On the Kühl clothing , the men’s stuff usual has the logo you showed in the video , the women’s logo is heart shaped on a lot of pieces . Easy way to tell the difference .

Hi! I love watching your videos! You are so informative and I really appreciate all the key words you throw out there. I’m not down with all the lingo yet but much love for sharing and helping others out! Went to the bins today and I came across a maxi that was all crocheted and it caught my eye. The tag said made in Italy on it and you had said you find a lot of good pieces that are made in Italy. When I looked it up (I had never heard of it 😳 just reading the tag) it’s a Jean Paul Gaultier dress! There are not too many comps for this style dress. Hopefully I can get something off of google lens. Hoping it’s worth$$$ lol It’s so fun treasure hunting at the bins!!

For all those things you find that are beautiful but stained? Find a collaborator who sewed and likes to up-cycle ( that's what I do, I up-cycle shirts into bears for memory for families or up-cycle into one-of-a-kind throw pillows. You would then split the money 50/50 you did the shopping and posting on eBay. He/She did the sewing.

I would look up seamstresses in your area, or when you have time check with the Quilt/fabric stores FM store. most have business cards of home-based businesses. ( not JoAnn although I do love that store they just do not have a good referral system in place). Love your personality, It would be awesome to have worked with you. I hope you find someone to upcycle with you. It can be very lucrative.

I live in South Florida and most inventory found here is spring Summer. I have been selling a lot of it in February even . People shop for vacations , cruises and spring break.
That's so true 👍 I do list anything year round too. I do sell more sweaters in the fall....but there are exceptions. Agree!

Those Lace Dresses! I would have bought for myself for crafting...still try to get the stains out first though, just a challenge. I would soak it in a solution for 2 days, then wash it...but not dry it though...hang dry only and see what happens. But love to find items like that to cut up the lace on for crafting or other sewing projects. I would even buy a crafters bundle...you pay what? Maybe 2 each? If you bought both and sell as a lot for $12...as is for crafting or ...who knows? ..I mean some people will re-make over items with flaws too. Anyway, I know you can't buy every thing and I DO have too many project pieces around here LOL. But just to save those pretty items is all...I look for items with buttons, patches, etc that are ruined but I can use those as well. Someday...(LOL) its all gonna pay off well!

As always your videos are so great. We thought today was going to be a bins day. But we came up to the Santa Rosa outlet and it’s closed 😭 So we are going to some regular thrift stores. One day we will get to experience the bins, just not today.

Not sure if I said before because I have become a preacher for the stuff BUT restoration powder is amazing. I have damaged a couple more delicate fabrics with it - not sure what I did wrong. Almost everything, 90+% of what I've treated with that stuff, has come out beautifully! Colored pieces or white pieces. I had a white ralph lauren shirt that had yellowed from age/wear. It is crispy white now.
It's just called "restoration powder"? I haven't tried that. I use the blue dawn/hydrogen peroxide/baking soda and its really good but occasionally bleaches spots out.

Gantos was a store at the mall In the 90’s that sold dresses gowns and some either fancy things. I got a few dresses for school dances there in the late 90’s .not sure when they went out of business

I’ve been wondering for a while now…when you say I hope to get $25 or $x amount,,, how are you listing it? I know platforms differ etc. but for example PoshMark-are you taking into account the possible discount to a liker and the 20%PM fee? So would you list it for $40 or $50? If you list it for $25 you’d make so little after all the fees and discounts. I’m wondering what you take is on this? Do you increase the price to account for the fees? ( then I worry it will be too expensive and people will scroll by). I would love your take on your pricing strategy.
I’m sure it helps that you buy at the bins so your cost of goods is super low. I am getting up the nerve to go to the bins near me. I’ll need a tougher skin to handle the aggressive people that are there 🤦🏻♀️. But for those prices I’ll figure it out! 😊

Quimby, may I ask your advice on some thing? How do you break down? How much of your sales should go to new product, how much to put aside for taxes and how much is your profit? I’m sure there are other things there that I’m forgetting, too. I’m working on the business model like you suggested and just really don’t know what to predict for these.

These are great questions Teresa (sorry for the late response just got back from Mexico) . I just finished filing my taxes so I am very familiar with my numbers. I do not budget into categories ahead of time. I don't say, "oh I only have $100 to spend on Cost of Goods this week" If your budget is tight as a new reseller, this could be smart. My strategy is to record my numbers every month, so I look at how much I made in sales on ebay. Then I deduct my Cost of Goods and ebay fees to see what I actually made in profit that month. That is what the government wants to see on your taxes too. I pay estimated taxes every quarter. I have been selling 12 years so I have a sense now of what I should pay. Gosh, this could be a whole video, sorry for the long response! xo Q
You are supposed to pay your taxes quarterly, not a year later. Good way to get a fine from the IRS. You need to get educated!
I have no idea what you are taking about. I DO pay quarterly taxes. I have a professional accountant. I have been reselling over 12 years so I do know what I am doing with book keeping and accounting and taxes with my business.
