  • My Valedictorian Speech from Grade 8! This was 2 years ago. Hope you enjoy it! If you're looking at this for inspiration for writing your valedictorian speech here are a few tips:
    - Don't stress too much, just focus on who you are. As cheesy as it sounds, your speech will be great as long as you make it encompass you. With my speech, there were moments where it was funny, it was serious, I even incorporated some spoken word moments into and those were all parts of what made it impactful. The audience wants to see you, and the experiences that you've gone through at the school, how you came out in the end.
    - MEMORIZE YOUR SPEECH. A lot of people bring a paper up with them when they do the speech. This is NOT a good idea. It takes away from the speech, makes it seem more robotic. It cuts the audience off, and you’re just in your own world. Memorizing the speech will make it much more authentic, more heartfelt. It should feel like you are speaking to the audience, not reading to them.
    - Don't be afraid to write a million different drafts with totally different topics. Take your time, go through all your ideas, merge your ideas, find out what works best.
    - Practice, practice, practice! This is a given but super important. The more you practice the more you’ll be able to see how what you’ve written sounds aloud, the more you’ll be able to make those small tweaks that make all the difference. Don’t be afraid to show someone your speech even if it’s rough. Show your parents, siblings, friends from other schools, whoever you can. Different people will find different moments they liked, didn’t like and they’ll have different notes for you that can make a huge difference.
    Good luck guys!
