    I feel bad and good about that purple belt training with Meregali. Bad because he's being manhandled by Nicholas but good because he's learning so much!!

      @@lexluthor4405 Agreed, but that doesn't help the regular viewing audience. Dogi is boring to watch, for some reason. Maybe Meregali cracks the code!

      @josemarroquin1899 Год назад +1

      @@lexluthor4405 agree, I feel people begin to lose interest in the gi when the de la riva, spider/lasso, etc. is introduced. The guards are very technical however tough to learn as people will pass often. This will frustrate the student which will lead them to not want to try. Meregali has an awesome gi guard game that is exciting to watch. Although he is a heavyweight, his guard is similar to middle and below. Gi is extremely fun when you gain competency in the advanced game.

    • @josemarroquin1899
      @josemarroquin1899 Год назад +1

      @@Lostmodalities Meregali is interesting as his gi game is advanced and smooth for a heavyweight. He transitions well from open guard using, collar sleeve, de la riva and lasso which he catches at 3:19. He slept Cyborg w/ a loop choke a year or so ago. Meregali was getting the Tainan Dalpra press as a purple belt in 2014. Plenty of matches on RUclips showing his gi skills.

      I think it's going to be a real possibility. Remember that Ryan and Jones faced off once during finals, so Meregali Vs Ryan could happen.
      I also think Ryan is secretly preparing to compete in GI next year. He wants to be as good or better than Roger Gracie, so for that he has to beat Roger's record, if he can.
