  • As I continue to walk through normal maintenance issues, I wanted to share the process so you can do the same if you encounter the same thing in your car.
This is one of the more simple things you can do, almost no tools required and just have to be VERY CAREFUL as you change the bulbs. As I mention (probably too many times) in the video, dont touch the bulb with your fingers as it will get oil on it, and burn the bulb out faster.
Also, there are many opinions of what bulbs to use, but I tend to prefer the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra and have used them for years.
    Must haves:
Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H7 low beam bulbs (x2)
    www.amazon.com...
    10mm socket or wrench
Flat bladed screwdriver or pick tool
    Nice to Haves:
    Good Lighting
    www.ryobitools...
Good music - BB King is always good for car work!
    www.bbking.com/
Nitrite gloves (as to not get oil on the bulb)

Great Video. Can you post one if it's possible to replace the Halogen bulbs on the E83 w/LED bulbs? Thanx.

I would think it is absolutely possible, and would be a similar process. Now that said, there is a lot of argument on if it is a good idea. LED or HID bulbs into halogen or other light assemblies often don't work out very well. Light pattern and design is different than the assembly itself, and you get blown out headlight patterns. You can often see this coming at you down the road.. oncoming car headlights are not focused at all, just BLAZING kelvins of light color, but like you are looking into the sun. Can it be done? Sure.. should it be done? That is another question imho.

I changed the low beans, Parking lights and daytime lights in my x3 2017. And now all of those 3 has the malfunction check lights on. How can I clear the malfunction message?

Couple of questions.. did you put in a different type of bulbs like LEDs? If so, you need to code that into the car with an app like Bimmercode.

    Greetings!
    I have a basic question ( please don't laugh 😂)
What are the names of the little bulbs that are located within the lighting unit?
Some one told me that they are called "peanut bulbs"?

Which lighting unit? A site called realoem . Com is great for looking through parts diagrams and finding exactly what you need. 8)
