Don't be fooled by the fact that this is a "kids" show: this is actually a FAMILY show. Meaning, it has something for everyone. It's very self-aware, the humor is actually funny, and the lessons are quite wise and relevant! ...Of course, it also has its corny moments, but still. There's a reason this show's so popular: because it's actually *good.*
Indeed. That's actually something I really liked in the older seasons, that were sadly phased out in the later ones. The lessons they told, most can be applied even to adults. Especially today, where most people are locked inside, anti social, mostly interacting through the internet. So socially stunted, don't have many friends, and not get to meet as many people if they worked outside of the home, or went out to gatherings, parties, parks, bars, and so on.
True
@@Jirodyne I don't know. The show was pretty consistent with lessons being applicable to all ages throughout the entire series run, and the season premieres and finales typically introduced a major threat, raising the stakes and adding tension. There were a couple sour notes, but for the most part the show hit when it needed to.
@@Jirodyne I'm fine with it, because they chose to value character development over educational value. And they still show other ponies learning lessons, like the cutie mark crusaders.
Wow that's a really good way of putting it
As someone who watched MLP when it was in its prime, it takes a few seasons to get to where it’s really good. The shift from more kid-oriented stuff to actual bangers takes place around season 3-4, and that’s noticed in the songs as well.
Season 2 was already bringing the great stuff with Discord and Chryssi.
Yeah the start is fun time then later LORE lol
Seasons 4 and 5 are truly this shows peak imo
It's subjective for sure but firsts season are really good too
@@Fourger14 Indeed. The first season was them testing things, very basic, sloppy, and slow Mostly focusing on slowly introducing the characters, their lives, and figuring out what they want to do with the show. But Season 2 kicks it right out of the park and really set the show onto the road, as they now had things set up, characters that they just needed to deepen more, and more fun stories to tell.
I've already said this a few times on other people's reactions, but it bears repeating here:
I love This Day Aria, but not for the reason you might think - it's because it's two different characters singing an Aria, which is defined by only having one singer. But it still counts as an Aria, because the villain is disguised AS the other singer! It's so unique, and so clever!
This Day Aria is the reason I became a fan. A Canterlot Wedding part 2 was the first episode I watched followed by part 1, followed by me bingeing the first 3 season everyday at the library before bingeing numerous reactors for those first 3 seasons waiting for Equestria Girls and season 4.
Someone pointed out as well, the song uses a false Cadence which is: a musical cadence in which the dominant resolves to a harmony other than the tonic.
It's really clever to have Cadance singing about a false Cadance with a false Cadence used in the music.
@@EPICFAILIER It's more than that. The false Cadence character's parts use a deceptive (false) cadence, while the actual Cadance character's parts use an authentic cadence.
The musical pun is like a cherry on top :)
@@warbird333 Chrysalis was the first villain in a show that 9 year old me actually hated lol. Like, fully was just over with. The way everyone believed Twilight was at fault just made me rage, but she had pipes though (Cadence's pipes)
There is _loads_ more. Over the course of 9 seasons, the main show (where the third song came from) had plenty of songs, ranging from "okay" to "phenomenal" in a plethora of styles. The spin-off set in a human world, called _Equestria Girls,_ (where the second song came from) has mostly generic but catchy teen pop, ranging from "meh" to "Ooh, surprisingly good", and the theatrical movie (where the first song came from) has a couple of pretty good songs as well.
The biggest problem you'll encounter when taking recommendations is that _a lot_ of fans tend to recommend songs that were impactful *_in context_* within the plot of the episode or movie, but are actually not very interesting to listen to, out of context, either because they're musically nothing special, or because you can only guess at what the hell is being sung about.
For example, you'll probably see people recommend a song called "In Our Town", because it's an important villain-statement in the episode it's from, and the character who leads it becomes very important - but the song is _boring!_ That's, in fact, the whole _point_ of the song: it _literally_ advocates passionless mediocrity, and as such is a bog-standard march rhythm without any flair or interesting flourishes. And yet, you'll always find fans who - blinded by what the song comes to mean in context and in retrospect - will recommend it to others and then wonder why it fails to wow them.
I've noticed this as well, I hope they see this!
I agree with the sentiment but I would argue that I always like showing off Our Town because it is a great example of deviance from expectations because it's a kid show talking about such an adult concept. Plus, it's not always that you get to hear Barbie singing as a villain.
But it certainly isn't a wow banger of an example.
Couldn't agree more with the original comment.
@amandaslough125
Even years later, I still occasionally do a double take at Starlight's voice XD
In Our Town is great in-context as a narrative piece; it does its job of being a propaganda song. But in a vacuum, it's pretty underwhelming compared to the rest of the show's bangers.
You hit the nail on the head. I’ve seen so many people try to recommend the last song of th series to reactors, especially those that stated they will be watching the show
Want to see more? There are so many more. You should really watch the series directly, you would be surprised how awesome it is !
almost everyone start from songs give them time
There are SO MANY MORE!!! Honestly, if the story in Open Up Your Eyes and This Day Aria caught your attention, then you might want to consider actually reacting to the show itself. You'd be surprised by how great it is! (Especially after season 1, but that's still good as well.)
A bunch of other MLP songs I'd recommend are The Magic Inside, Friend That You Need, Flawless, Winter Wrap-Up, You'll Play Your Part, Unleash The Magic, Pinkie's Present, Smile Song, I'll Fly, and Better Way to be Bad.
I'll Fly is so underrated
Kinda sucks they'll never see the show anyway, because they rely on "like goals" to actually engage in things :/
And they spoiled themselves of such big, important songs too...
The first song was from the first MLP movie, the second song was from the spinoff specials of EQG(Equestria Girls), and the last one was from the end of Season 2 of the main series.
The MLP movie is actually the last MLP movie funnily enough, all 4 Equestria Girls movies were made before then (and seem pretty likely to tie in with canon, since if Equestria Girls isn't canon then that means Twilight never needed much time to adjust to the use of her wings)
Just know... this is over 200 episodes with movies and specials. Dare to enter the pony hole and you might not recognize yourself once you exit the world. (It's worth it!)
They should definitely listen to the fan made songs like ‘lullaby for a princess’ and ‘the moon rises’. These are the best to come out of the fandom
Someone mentioned songs you should listen to and I agree with these ones!
Flawless, Winter Wrap-Up, You'll Play Your Part, Unleash The Magic, Pinkie's Present, but gosh there are loads more I want to reccomend.
Weird Al has his own song in this as well called Super Duper Party Pony if youre into the Weird Al stuff!
Since you seem to enjoy story in songs, here’s one from the fandom that will blow you away:
Lullaby for a princess
The entire story is told in the song, and spoils nothing that isn’t in the premiere of the show.
As a side note, the animation by warpout took them 3 years of work, and it shows.
AGAIN AND AGAIN. YOU FORGOT THE MOON RISES!
THE MOON RISES, SILLY.
I would also recommend The Moon Rises as another song that is in a similar vein. The Moon Rises and Lullaby go very well together.
I’m imagining them actually just reacting to the whole show and I love it
Even after so many years I still hold this show dear to heart. Probably my favourite cartoon of all time, as a kid I understood it differently and I was drawn in by the cute and wholesome aspects. But now after 6 years I’ve started to appreciate it differently.
I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY YOUR REACTING TO MY LITTLE PONY SONGS. I AM SUBBED FOR THE FAIRY TAIL SERIES, BUT HOLY SHIT. IF YOU REACT TO MORE MLP SONGS, I'LL SNORT THAT CONTENT, I'LL INJECT THAT CONTENT.
same
"Under Our Spell", "We Will Stand For Everfree", "Flawless", "Unleash the Magic", "You'll Play Your Part" are all absolutely amazing ones with awesome vocals and harmonising!
If you were interested in looking at fan-works with good and interesting story (that is basically canon to MLP) I REALLY suggest "The Moon Rises" and "Lullaby for a Princess". You'll understand why. Great reaction, guys
Bro I would cry if you reacted to this show lol (tears of joy)
yeah.. crying of laughter 💀
Tears of joy…right?
Yeah
there is a difference between laughter and joy tho so which one is it pick one
Liquid pride
the first was the movie that is 100% cannon after like season 6 or something like that, the second one is a spin off serie, and the last one is actually the original serie
3:10 - Also just to put things into perspective, the creature she met in that cave is basically the Omega Weapon of this series. It's not something you want to pick a fight with. Even Twilight, who's one of the most powerful spell casters in the world won't mess with it. Yeah, Friendship is Magic is a bit more hardcore than what you might be used to when thinking about My Little Pony.
Subject matter dealt with in this show includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Abandonment Issues
- Social Anxiety
- Cults
- Stress
- Racism
- Death
- Redemption
- Change
There are more, but those are the ones I can think of in 30 seconds or less.
The first one is from the movie in 2017 and was sung by Emily Blunt
The second one is from the human spinoff
The third one is This Day Aria from the s2 finale. This show hits so hard with songs and the show may be worth it for them alone.
Dudes just speedran the entire fandom. "Wait...it's actually good? Hold up...why is that pony LOOKING at me like that? Whoawhoawhoa that's not a pony, I've been betrayed. Wait...it's still good?"
Omg yes! I'm so glad you guys gave this a shot this is my whole childhood. The music, the story line, and of course the characters have brought so much joy. There can be dark and sad moments in the show that you may not expect but overall very wholesome. I would definitely recommend watching it. (And the movies). I'm also glad you didn't judge it before listening to the songs because it's a show full of ponies. Some people usually judge it with the belief "Ponies are for little girls" which is not true at all. Anyone of any age can watch it. Anyways songs I would recommend would be Winter Wrap Up, Smile, Babs seed, Apples to the core, You'll Play Your Part, The Magic Inside, Flawless, and Welcome to the Show. 😁
Best part in the movie is when Capper grabs Spike and uses him as a flamethrower.
5:38 Ah, this is a song from the Spin-off series. They aren’t ponies.
I could give you deep lore and background information. Instead I'm gonna give you a silly fact for each song.
First song, Open Up Your Eyes. From the theatric MLP movie, it's a good movie would recommend. Anyway, onto the silly fact. That pony singing, the villain, is named Tempest Shadow. The fact is, that's not her original name, she was born Fizzlepop Berrytwist. She changed it for obvious reasons.
Second song, Battle of the Bands. From another movie, you guys sure seem to like the movies. This one's from Rainbow Rocks. The evil girl with the blue hair and pink skirt is named Sonata Dusk, the silly fact is, she loves Tacos.
Third song, This Day Aria. This one's actually from the televised series, good job. So, the pony singing, the ruffled one the other one is something else. Her name is Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. Which means, My Love Rhythm. She prefers Cadence.
Yes, there are many more great songs from this series (fyi, that second song where everyone was humanoid is a semi-spinoff series that takes place in an alternate dimension).
I would highly recommend you guys just watch the show, though. Aside from the amazing flash animation, its actually got a lot of great character arcs, humour, pop-culture references, and even a few epic fight scenes scattered throughout the seasons. Not to mention, after the show uses up the usual moral lessons that other shows have, MLP actually gets into some heavy topics such as living with a disability, accepting redemption and owning past mistakes, and even uses a couple episodes to explore grief and death. Did I also mention there are also some legendary voice actors in the cast? Some notable members include Terra Strong who played Raven in Teen Titans, and John Delancey who played Q on Star Trek.
Seriously, if you guys agree to react to this series, I will most definitely subscribe to you.
MLP songs are SOOOOO GOOOOOD! MLP: FIM is like the best iteration of MLP ever!!! If you, by chance, start to watch it, you will love it as well. Those songs you just watched are just a little bit ahead of the series. The first song is from the MLP: the Movie that happens between season 7 and 8. The second song is from the second movie of its spin-off series: Equestria Girls (which happens in the human world where each pony has a human counterpart), happening chronologically between season 4 and 5. The third song is the one that is the closest to the beginning, being from the season 2 finale.
A bit late but a good MLP song I know is called "Bats" part of the MLP soundtrack if you search it up
Even to this day. I am still obsessed with these ponies. One of the many shows that bring you happiness 😂❤
I am absolutely *loving* the attention MLP is finally getting after being hated on for years, now people are finally seeing how insanely good the snow is, ESPECIALLY the music!
The first song Open Up Your Eyes is from a movie
For context, if you want it. The first song was from the one and only My Little Pony Friendship is Magic movie that follows the actual ponies. The second song is from the "My Little Pony Equestria Girls 2: Rainbow Rocks" movie. Equestria Girls is a spin off that got so popular they made it canon near the final seasons of the show. It takes place in an alternate reality through a mirror portal where most characters have alternate human versions of themselves. The only pony characters in the human movies (of which there's like 4 or 5 and a bunch of shorts) are the purple one (Twilight Sparkle) and the orange and red one (Sunset Shimmer). So for future context, if you keep going, in Equestria Girls there are two Twilights. The pony one and the human on that shows up from the third movie on. The human Twilight wears glasses.
For the third one the Characters singing are Cadence the actual pink alicorn that is supposed to be marrying the main characters brother and the evil one singing is Chrysalis an evil Changeling queen. Changelings in the show are bug ponies that shapeshift into other ponies to steal love (their food) from that pony's loved ones. She's posing as Cadence to marry Shining armor, steal his love, and turn off the shield spell he is holding over the Capital city to attack the city and cocoon all the ponies and drain them of their love like a horde of locusts.
I really like your reaction video, for first time viewers of this mlp content, you were very observant and able to notice things that most reaction channels I've seen never notice. I will definitely be following to see if you post any more reaction videos around mlp.
„We have three. If they are more, let us know.“ LMAO. That’s a whole joke there.
I recommend Best friend until the end of time, Flawless, Awsome as wanna be (The full version) and bab seed
This was the video that gave me that first spark to wanna watch mlp, and now here I am a year later returning to this video, as a massive mlp fan
Hello! Some of my personal favs are "Babs Seed," "Flawless," "A true, true friend," "apples to the core," "bats," and "awesome as I wanna be!" :)
I want to recommend some songs that don’t get recommended a lot, and are underrated!
- magic inside of you
- on my own
- art of the dress
- I’ll fly
- Lunas Future
'Luna's Future' is an underated gem imo. 'Babs Seed' 'Winter Wrap Up' and 'Apples to the Core' are personal faves of mine, haha.
But if you wanna watch the episode 'This Day Aria' is from (and it's my personal favourite episode) it's the S2 finale two-parter, 'A Royal Canterlot Wedding'
The second song is not from My Little Pony, but from my little pony Equestria girls, because Hasbro made another show all adventure movies at first of the My Little Pony characters but as humans so that’s where they’re human
The second song is another movie where they go to an alternate universe where everyone is human
I would love to see you react to more songs. There are so many and they are so damn good.
Love seeing your guys reaction to this 😂
im 100% going to tune in if you watch more because this series has some CRAZY bangers!
You should definitely wants all of the series. We need more people reacting to the show, spreading the word. Welcome to the herd! Surprisingly, you picked all villain songs for this particular video.
Whenever I see people react to the show or the song, and they are surprised by how much they like it, I get so happy. This show means so much to me, and it's so great to see people taking a look at it
"Open Up Your Eyes" is one of my top favorite songs to come out of MLP. Emily Blunt did an incredible job as Tempest Shadow.
Other people are making recommendations, so here's mine: The Smile Song, Pinkie's Lament, Pinkie's Present, I'll Fly, Apples to the Core, Our Town, You'll Play Your Part, Better Way to be Bad, Under Our Spell, and Unleash the Magic.
By the way, when you inevitably go looking for The Smile Song since a lot of people want it, stay far away from Smile HD. Despite the name and the fact that it uses The Smile Song, Smile HD is grimdark fan content.
I hope you guys decide to do more mlp song reactions, Because here are some songs i suggest-
1. A Kirin Tale
2. A Better Way To Be Bad
3. Your Heart Is In Two Places
4. Friends Are Always There For You
Really enjoyed your reaction.
Of we talk about rainbow rocks (second song from it) i would totally recommend "Welcome to the show". It is final song, literally the song battle, and it's amazing.
More people Is reacting to this show and I'm here for it.
The songs, some villains, the plot... I hope you react to more songs
Damn didn't expect this this is great 😂
First song was from the the movie. Theater release had a animation “glow up” and a slight redesign of the pony models: mostly more eye sparkle, but also a pinching of the nose/mouth to make them cuter....never mind equines don’t have distinctive noses/mouth from neck. Character writting took a few seasons off, even if the film fits store lines in between later seasons.
Second song is from the spin off series where everyone but Spike has human forms
0:47 Yep, that's how it starts.
10:50 "This day Aria" is one of the best shows BANGERS
I never would've expected this from you guys lol
About 8 years has passed but I still love listening "this day aria"
I'm with you guys when my friends in college told me to watch this show I was skeptical. But both the story writing and the songs were epic, especially in the later seasons when they get a whole DBZ-level battle.
4:23 The first song is from the 2017 MLP Movie 🎥🍿. There’s a whole series ( Friendship is Magic) that has 9 seasons, a Spin-off series of movies and specials as well as a YT series EQG. Interesting that you’re looking at this show.
The first song you watched is from the "My Little Pony" movie from 2017. But "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" is a tv show that started in 2010, and ran for a decade.
I just looove to see people enjoy this show like this
The show is basically not for kids, but young adults at that point it’s got some dark themes and story and lower, but I really enjoy it even though I’m a adult and a women most of the fanbase are men lol 😅but women like it too
The "Cafeteria Song" from the first Equestria Girls is way more like High School Musical xD I actually instantly thought of that back then when I first seen it.
"Friendship is Magic" is one of those times where the potential for a kids show can shine, when proper effort is put into it. Like many others, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, and, while the it has its ups and downs, its overall a very pleasant experience. I have to say this show was to "My Little Pony", what "Prime" was to "Transformers":
A reboot that serves to entertain the then current generation of children, and their families, with quality storytelling and animation.
I adore my little pony 😂 in middle school I literally went on a binge of the series for a straight month, everyone in the house hated it
If you're looking for more great songs I'd recommend the fan animation/song 'lullaby for a princess' it'll honestly blow you away. And then one from the actual show is 'You'll play your part' it has great harmonies. One that's sorta like the second you watched is 'awesome as I wanna be' and my last recommendation would be 'bab seed' or I think that's what it's called. It's upbeat and real fun.
I also recommend Tangled the series and Centaurworld music if you're looking for mind blowing stuff.
AGAIN AGAIN. YOU FORGOT THE MOON RISES. UGH
EEEEKKKK. THE MOON RISES, SILLY.
I would love to see you guys just watching the show tbh, after season 1 the plot is sooo much better and the songs are so good.
This show is CHOCK full of amazing music!! I'm happy to see more people checking it out :)
It's actually a really enjoyable series too, truly! There's a reason its following is so big
Surprisingly cool villains in MLP: FiM, especially that last one pretending to marry.
I recommend the series (9 seasons) also the second Song is from equestria girl ( ponies as girls) the equestria girls are movies ( 4 movies and specials) and the first one should be watched after the end of season 3 of the series.
I'm an action movie type of guy, but my little sister kept watching this and ...
I guess its hard to deny that some songs were ... are 🔥
And as more seasons came out ... some epic scenes also came out
One of my favorites is actually a short song, Luna's Future. It's from a Christmas episode recreating A Christmas Carol. It's dark and forbidding.
Welcome to the ride! There's no escape. Please do not resist :3
Just one episode.
They said just one episode.
Now I've been part of the fandom since 2014 😂.
The Ride Never Ends!!!
o7
@@MexicanShirouEmiya At least you have someone to blame - I did it to myself xD
3 first season in 5 days and suddenly I know english.
These were all villain songs, so I hope the lighter protagonist songs don't fall short for you because their amazing in their own respect. I suggest listening to "The Magic Inside", "I'll Fly", and "Time to be Awesome". Though if you want another good villain song, "Better Way to be Bad" and "Say Goodbye to the Holiday" are pretty fire
too imo ^^
MlP girls was the alternate universe where they were humans, the first song was from the movie, the lesser quality ponies are from the actual show and that ramps up in later seasons!
‘Welcome to the show’ is actually one of my favourites
3k likes! 🎉
can we just take a second to admire the guts it takes to have a movie about colorful cartoon horses and then show a child getting mauled by a bear?
There’s so many songs in MLP and a surprising amount of them are amazing
theres TONS more! glad yall started with a banger with Open Up Your Eyes tho!
I remember when Equestria girls was first announced and everyone was against it and now Everyone loves it because of the songs.
I forgot how hard that wedding song went. Holy shit, man.
The second song is from one of the "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls" movies. 'Equestria Girls' is a spin-off set in a parallel universe...all the same MLP characters, but as Humans...ish.
You should definitly react to the movie the show and everything else, its so goooood
Oh my god, please, PLEASE react to "You'll Play Your Part." It's my all time favorite MLP song to date, its just so angelic fr. Also, my second favorite "A Kirin Tale" is also SUPER catchy. Both of these songs are later season songs, so the show had a really long time to get their musical groove before this, they are fantastic!
The 1st song would have been from My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) that was between the 7th and 8th seasons.
The 2nd song was from the spin-off series movie My Little Pony: Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks, that was released between the 4th and 5th season of Friendship is Magic.
While the 3rd song was for the seaon 2 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
If you are looking for context open up your eyes is from the my little pony movie which takes place between season 7 and 8 of my little pony.
a lot of people diss the show at 1st but then they get to the songs and are surprised haha. the songs are amazing. fan songs are amazing as well. i recommend lullaby For a Princess.
The show has some real banger songs, and some that just make me cry when the context is added. The show in the first few seasons is a lot more "kids and family" theme but as it goes on it has some surprisingly adult relevant themes wrapped up in a pony-story. So they could really watch the show if just the songs in themselves intrigue them in the plot.
A few non-plot favorites that you didn't just do would likely be Flawless, Winter Wrap Up, Smile, and a few more Siren songs. I always have to recommend Lullaby for a Princess too (fan made and incredible)
AGAIN. YOU FORGOT THE MOON RISES EXIST!
EEEEKKKK. THE MOON RISES EXIST.
They started with the movie?
The movie with another style entirely.
GREAT.
You got three villain songs in a row...
the fact that these were all villain songs too lmfao, the villain songs slap
And the fact it makes us be ourselves makes me happy because it supports us to be happy and be ourselves because of the cafeteria song
AMQZING!! love it guys! i have still yet to see anyone react to success song its goes so hard
I went into this series like most people thinking it was a "kiddie" show but must to my surprised it had everything i enjoy about good animated series. Good writing, comedy, deep and emotional plots and of course amazing songs and music.
BTW- my favorite song of the series is The Magic Inside. its short but packs so much emotion into it.
The show definitely started as a kids show but matured cause of the fandoms impact on the show and become alot more adult like
Ya I'm enjoying these MLP reactions and songs. I'd love to see more because I really enjoy them and that's all I need to watch more.
There are some incredible songs in this show (and even more so sometimes from the fandom but that's a whole other story) and the show itself ran for a whole decade and was so successful they set up the new generation of mlp to be a story set in the world of this one that came before it, which is something they've never done before. Normally in a reboot they completely remake the setting but this time they just set it in the far future of the same world. All of which is to say, friendship is magic rules and deserves the hype.
There are SOOO many more. But, would recommend Flawless, You'll Play Your Part, and The Magic Inside for starters. Enjoy!
You guys are about to head down the same road as Scoot, he’s now reacting to the show. This is how it starts
