Aww LuLu just wanted to play with that big handsome boy. He just didn't know what to think of her enthusiastic overtures. My Peke was approaching other dogs like that too. I taught him to sit so the other dog can approach him. Then he can stand up and they visit. It put a stop to that excited rush. Here in Oregon, USA, we mostly go to rivers and lakes where he loves wading in the water. He will swim out to me also but it took time and patience to teach him that. Would love to take him to the beach. Love those wild cockatoo birds.

Thanks, Roux! Yes, Lulu just wanted to play! How did you make your peke sit before other dogs approach? Lulu is not that obedient… Hahah 😂 Taking a peke to the beach is a nice adventure, but Lulu put himself in the sand, so his eyes were tearing the next day…

@@danicalifestyle Oh dear, he got sand in his eyes? Ouch, poor baby. I'll have to be careful when we go to the coast. They are so close to the ground, too. LOL about obedient Pekes. Yep, they are a challenge to train. I do lots of obedience with my boy. He loves it. I get about 90% happy cooperation from him but when he tries to ignore me, I just physically make him do it. He knows it's futile to be stubborn. With the sitting if he doesn't sit when I ask, I just gently push his little rump down. I ask the other person to help me train him by holding their dog back until we are ready. Most people are happy to help. So, once he is sitting, I ask them to let their dog approach. In the beginning my boy would jump up to try and meet the other dog. I simply kept pushing him back into a sit. Pekes are so smart, as you know, so it didn't take long before he got it. He has since stopped lunging at other dogs but I still use the sit when we step to the side to let other people pass. I give him tiny cheese treats to train him. We don't need the treats so much anymore unless he's learning something new. Anyway, even opinionated, willful little Pekes can be trained. Hugs to you and Lulu.

Hi, I am from Mandalay. And my dog is Pekingese and Terrier mix. It is about 9 months old. So can the dog swim for like 20 minutes or play water? Because my mom told me that those dogs cannot play water or swim, it will catch cold. Is it true? How many minutes can it play in the water?

Hi, Nan! Yes, it's true that they can't stay in water for long. Or at least that's what I know. Lulu was in water for less than a minute. They also don't have long legs to swim for long..

@@danicalifestyle Aww, Thanks for the information. 😃 Yes it is also true that they have short legs. So will they catch cold if they play water or swimming for a long time?
