I think people will not ride those because of the fact their software can cause locked doors, non stop of the car, erroneous actions of the car. I will not ride one.
in dry climates this is ok, but the minute there is bad weather, my tesla and lidar based systems fail. (heavy rain, snow, dense fog) for a variety of reasons. Having hired members from uber hogging up superchargers and being aggressive for spots I see for this action. We don't have the infer structure for this and this is a clear response from tesla launching the cyber cab.
No Wonder, I only get very very few trips on a daily basis due to this self driving vehicle. I’ve been doing this right here for a long time. I don’t even recommend to anybody to get into this business because they cannot just simply make profit because all these new regulations are suppressed to make money. it’s not worth anymore driving for Uber it’s Uberwhelming
Nope They are limited . No highway rides . In Las Vegas they just are on the strip . No lake Las Vegas . No way can they make enough money to survive . It is just a driverless shuttle . No airport rides . This will fail.
We are small businesses. Uber tried to disrupt the taxi business and failed due to the legislative protections taxi have. So Uber decided to disrupt the Rideshare drivers and build their own market off drivers backs. Drivers have no legislative protections as businesses. They always go after labor protections instead of business protections. As businesses, drivers can’t even set their own prices. What business you know that can’t set its own prices for products and services? Clear price fixing as these driver businesses would be competitive businesses that will be an issue for Uber’s local markets. Our legislators have sided with Uber to prevent these driver businesses from growth. These small businesses can grow from rideshare to black service to fleet to app based local companies but Uber and legislative bodies block that and change driver focus to labor issues when these are business isssues
There’s auto pilot that does most of flying. Uber/ Lyft/ Waymo could hire people to sit in driver seat, just in case car acts up or whatnot and pay them a little bit over minimum wage and it’ll still be cheaper for them what they’re doing now
Good stuff!! Waymo ALREADY has 22% of the market share in SF. The parent company Google has money to burn and will do everything to overcome any hurdles and takeover the rideshare industry.
This is nothing new in the phoenix area. However, most of the passengers I have spoken to who have taken these robo taxis are not on board with them, and say they will never take them again. I don’t think the public at large is going to be overwhelmingly accepting of this. People still trust humans more than machines. Also, humans prefer human interaction and human conversation.
They have the waymo rides all ready . It’s over at this point . So many people are using them in la . Time to get a full time job . There isn’t no rides in La last 3 days .
Or, if one had the inclination, take a ride, end the ride immobilize the vehicle remove the cameras and robotics and the GPS. I've seen a lot of vehicles in the Charleston area that seem to be vehicle dumps, even an old UPS delivery van.
I can't wait until they scale this up and discover how potholes, screws in the road, brakes and rotors, sand, snow and dust as well as batteries fail. They will spend so much in maintenance I can't see it ever being profitable. Not to mention other crazy drivers and riders or people looking to hack the robo shit..
My thoughts too, however they have been slowly increasing the passenger prices so in the future the passengers will have no hesitation to paying $30 for a 9 mile ride which uber will be able to pocket completely to cover that cost, so the maintenance cost is essentially shifted to the passenger.
Yep, welcome to the Oligarchy, where Elon has free reins to push his agenda. No more self-driving car regulations, no government oversight or labor protections. No legal remedies if you are injured or killed by one of these things.
So let's see how riders will send a gate code to the car when driving into apartment premises and also locate the passengers,LOL This is all BS and I don't see it operating for long, can't stand the test of time period!!!
This is the future guys. Eventually there will be no drivers. Mark my words. Of course like any thing moving forward there is opposition, criticism. Same happened when cars used to make 9 miles the gallon. Everyone thought was impossible and crazy to improve that. And look at us now.
The future is to remove private transportation off the roadways and put everyone into 15 minute Cities and roll out personal carbon allowances and universal basic income. The new religion is Climate Change.
Lyft and Uber were unique in that they had a service that combined tech and in person human interaction. Something all the other apps lacked (Amazon, eBay, post mates, Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc) Everyone always complains about automation, online platforms and social media because they are superficial and lack human connection. So whats funny is that this uniqueness they have is the very thing they want to move away from.
Considering Uber disabled specific safety features last time that resulted in the deaths of a few people, I would never get in any vehicle belonging to Uber.
As soon as they eliminate the good drivers, they will double the pax cost for self driving rides because there will be no alternative. I can see Uber implementing a dual system where the pax can order a ride with a driver or driverless car. Driverless being a "Premium" ride since all the good drivers with clean cars will have left the system, and the only ones left are crap drivers with fake accounts whose cars smell like weed and have no working A/C, this way uber can still scrape money from the bottom of the barrel rides but keep the premium rides on Uber's self driving cars. They can have the desperate drivers scrambling for pennies while they keep the high priced rides on their fleet. Of course there will also be a Lyft alternative LOL.
People prefer this ride in Phoenix. The Waymo. makes price cheaper, no tips for drivers. But the question is how long do they keep the price like this? You know the policy of greedy companies like Uber
A guy uploaded a video of his car just going in circles in a parking lot i will never get in one im scared of a malfunction
I saw that.
Uber and lyft lowering driver pay to invest in this garbage so they wont pay human drivers
I think people will not ride those because of the fact their software can cause locked doors, non stop of the car, erroneous actions of the car. I will not ride one.
People love it ride it
the Waymo already 😭
They only care about the money.
Not in New Orleans. Too many potholes.
Jackson Mississippi and Memphis too
They fixed all the potholes and opened all the closed roads today. Where have you been?
Not going to ride in that, no way!
I would love to see these driverless cars navigate when there is a lot of snow on the ground or in heavy rain..

Time to get the cones out to place on the hoods.😁
I hope they don’t jump self driving suburbans or escalades
Yeah, I wouldn't get in there. But why did you mention those suvs? Just wondering 😮

January is a slow season. It has nothing to do with your knowledge. Keep your head above the water brother.
Nope

Would you fly in a pilotless jet. No. Case closed
Soon we will ...

This could never work. Huge overhead cost and to cover cities across America
Great Article read. Thanks for the update. What can a full time driver like myself here in the mid-atlantic do about this?
I'm not too Worried thou, a Few Car Crashes will SET THE PUBLIC Right back to people drivers

Bring it on, I can't wait.
I wonder how many would be flipped over like a turtle.

What will human drivers do then??
Anti human agenda playing out, just like all the AI nonsense going on
Don’t fly too close to the sun.
Hi professor vasilios here Chicago tomorrow

Not affecting me. Still doing $225 to $325 a day.

Haha so true 👍👍💪💪
For paying 2-4 times less than regular Uber people will come down and personally open the gate if needed
This is the future guys. Eventually there will be no drivers. Mark my words. Of course like any thing moving forward there is opposition, criticism. Same happened when cars used to make 9 miles the gallon. Everyone thought was impossible and crazy to improve that. And look at us now.
We wont be alive to see it 😂

They will bring this into all platforms including Black.
Hey professor, are the AVs running during the wildfires??
Not in Pittsburgh
No way in hell I get in one of these things

Do you think this correlates because of the impending deportation of so many immigrants who work for Uber unofficially all over usa ?
This will fail bigly
They’re going to get tagged to shit
Hello professor I sent you the link
I'm trying to send you the link
