Grubby, I couldn't help but smile as I watched those familiar landscapes and hear the iconic sounds that accompanied my countless hours of gameplay. 20 years later your videos transport me back to a time filled with excitement, camaraderie, and epic battles. your videos serves as a beautiful reminder of those unforgettable moments. Thank you for sharing your passion for Warcraft with the world. Your dedication and love for the game shine through in every frame of your videos.
Same for me. Think stopped playing wc3 when wow came out. Stopped that a while ago as well. Throwback to audio comments synced to replay files. Nice to watch again- will probably start playing again more myself :)
It's weird how often grubby games have him with what feels like 3 dying peons, a grunt, and a half hp burrow vs 80 supply, then he somehow wins anyway.
@@bunnyfreakz honestly, I felt like grubby could've used fully upgraded grunts plus raiders, shamans, and demolishers and wouldve been way more easier for him. Like cheaper units and would be the same output. Plus losing a grunt to a dark ranger wouldn't be as painful as losing a tauren, and having shamans ready to dispel the ranger skelly.
when i saw the zepp come out i thought it was time for the legendary zepp micro that wins the game, but his opponent was wise to grubby's power with the zepp and focused it down
If you count the amount of times that a Tauren got away with 1-5 hit points around the middle of the video... Yeah, this game was perpetually on a knife edge.
I swear watching Grubby play Orc is a blessing for decades now. I wish in some alternate reality Grubby still competed. Or just had a lot more "serious" games on youtube vs strong opponents :3
Hey Grubby, love chilling and watching you games. This was an awesome match- I personally always loved the tauren unit and it was so cool watching them smash through those pesky rifles and priests! Also you had to really play hard to win this and it was fun watching such a close match. Great job, thank you!!
I'd love a transcript of everything Grubby says, his strategic and tactical insights are that useful! Granted, I'd love that for many RUclipsrs but still.
@@lazyupload From wikipedia: It [singular they] typically occurs with an indeterminate antecedent. This use of singular they had emerged by the 14th century, about a century after the plural they. It has been commonly employed in everyday English ever since and has gained currency in official contexts. Since we can't know who the opponent was (i.e. the antecedent is indeterminate), "they" can be employed. Technically one could also employ the *generic he* or *generic she*, though their use has fallen out of style, partly because their use is perceived as biasing the reader to assume the gender of the antecedent.
I still remember my proudest moment in warcraft 3 TFT. 4v4, I was playing undead. got the hero from the shop with the mass teleport ult (the human wizzard guy) rushed necromancers and corpse wagons. put everything into researching the necromancer summons and got the corpse wagons to generate corpses. However, while I was leveling my hero at lvl 5 my team got crushed by the 4 enemy players. All friendly forces devastated, the enemy was quickly destroying the friendly bases. But then I finally got my hero to lvl 6. I teleported into the base they were destroying. I ordered all corpse wagons to drop the corpses they were carrying, and the necromancers summoned an undead army literally so large that the entire base was grid locked. Many of the enemy forces were instantly surrounded and unable to move. They tried to fight their way through my wall of skeletons but it was too late. My numbers were just so great there was nothing they could do. After breaking the enemy team the corpse wagons made quick work of their base defenses and they surrendered the game.
What an *AMAZING* nifty little game !! :) Though, to be perfectly honest, I thought that *Grubby got a bit lucky to be able to manage to win this one...* Let me explain how and why I think so: *(TL;DR at the end for the lazy...)* -- After the fight at 12:05, the HUMAN player makes the correct decision to very quickly regroup, (maaaybe creep a little), and immediately launch ANOTHER attack on Grubby's base. This was completely to be expected, and inevitable, and Grubby should have known it was coming. However, Grubby, on the other hand, makes the *EXTREMELY RISKY AND RASH decision* to go to the other side of the map to creep a couple BIG / HIGH camps... -- Thus, naturally when the Human's attack on G's base arrives, Grubby is a bit pants-downed... : He is too far away to defend immediately, AND half his army is hurt badly from the heavy creeping. The Human takes advantage of this and dives deep into Grubby's base, attacking his peon line and burrows.... *What I'm about to say next may be a bit controversial:* The Human's TP-out of Grubby's base at 14:43 was *actually a mistake that turned the game from a NEAR-CERTAIN WIN for him to an opportunity for Grubby to come back !!* *THE CORRECT PLAY* in this scenario would have been for the Human to actually STAY in Grubby's base for as long as possible, continuing to harry the burrows, peons and oncoming taurens. ... If you look at the positioning, the Human is actually quite safe, with his rifles and casters being far in the back, safe from Pulverize and Warstomp, -- -- whereas his heroes are in tight little nooks, unable to get directly assaulted and too endangered by Grubby's forces. Theoretically, the Human *SHOULD HAVE STAYED* and continued to wreak havoc, EVEN AT THE POTENTIAL COST OF A FEW UNITS. -- -- because his continued delay on Grubby's economy and the ability to nab a few Taurens in the process would have been a greater benefit for him, potentially a GAME-WINNING one. *...BUT instead* , he TP-ed out too early, and allowed Grubby the time and economy recovery needed to get back into the game. .... *TL;DR: The Human would have won the game if, instead at TP-ing out at **14:43**, he had stayed longer, delaying G's economy and killing as many of his units, even at the cost of a few of his own.* ... *P.S.* Thus, going back to my earliest statement, *let me state what THE CORRECT PLAY would have been for Grubby, after **12:05** :* Heal up, reorganize and start creeping CLOSE LOCATIONS -- i.e. lab, expo, orange that are CLOSE to base. Thus, when the Human attacked again, Grubby could have IMMEDIATELY responded and avoid that entire situation where the Human nested himself deep in G's base. Thus... Grubby would have ended it right there and then. ... *P.P.S.* The human also generally made the mistake of having 1-2 priests too many, and too few Rifles, which rifles also, as far as I could tell, had NO upgrades. Just... a sub-optimal army comp. .
Grubby, I've never played W3, but I watch your videos a lot. And I have a question: why Orcs don't usually rapidly go for an expansion, for what seems to be a fairly common strategy with other races?
Orc expansion needs a stable army to defend it. While other races have their advantages, humans have militias, undead have ghouls, night elves have moonwells, and punching buildings.
human can do kill gold mine creeps with milita (peasants called to arms), undead with ghouls (wood workers) and skeletons from Rod of Necromancy (shop item), and nightelf with anticent of war (NE barrack building) and wisp repairing it Orc don't have these options to kill gold mine creeps
The answer is that orcs don't have a cheap unit that can be massed for high dps and tanking (militia/ghouls) nor can their buildings move and regen and fight the mine (nelf) That's why to compensate they have the best midgame overall in 1v1 and the super fast build town centre from shop. Further note: humans have the slowest building town centre but they can power build it (at cost, but it's worth it) plus some light early game macro bonus/flexibility. Nelf also got extra heal for their tree of life and heroes and blight helps ghouls regen and switch them around till cannibalize.
@dulaan5689 @hko2006 @zachariastsampasidis8880 thanks everyone for the answers! understanding this makes me admire even more W3TFT for being such a well taught game for its time
Hey, Grubby Thank you for the amazing games you've been putting out. minor question - it feels like you're somewhat underutilizing Chain Lightning skill on Farseer. Is it just weak and mana-costly or is it due to micro in combat?
I used to be able to drive out apm like this before. I'm just too busy now with work and what not to invest this kind of energy in a game. But I used to just love the art of this game
Try-hard games are the best! Extra challenging since like Grubby explained, the Dark Ranger prevents tauren resurrection because of the Dark Arrow making skeletons
Opponent had almost perfect strat to counter mass taurens. But bad execution especially during first attack at Orc's base. He intentionally let very low HP bulls run away and healing with salve.
Does Grubby have a stream delay setup or something? Some people were calling stream sniping with that DR, and I'm wondering if it would be the case lol. I mean, it could be random chance, but when someone quits without GGing it's always suspicious imo.

It's weird how often grubby games have him with what feels like 3 dying peons, a grunt, and a half hp burrow vs 80 supply, then he somehow wins anyway.
That's just Orcs in a nutshell tho. All expensive units that can't be easily/constantly replaced.
The amount of Only-Grubby-Can micro needed to win using this strategy indicates that this is not for majority of players…
Now you know why Tauren is low tier unit.
