Marx's dream was an international(ironically the name of the previous Russian anthem) Marxist society. the idea that a purely 100% Russian created socialism was never really anticipated.
I'd say, being a communist myself, this song and it's many variations feel different. Rather than aprecciating merely it's melody, and what little I could make out of the lyrics, I aprecciate what it meant to the people of the USSR, and to the working classes of the world. The USSR will most likely never come back, but the people's fight will continue, and hopefully, we'll have something similar to it in the future, near future, I hope.
Communism is, theoretically, a good idea but it has one big flaw: it doesn't take into account the human spirit and the people's determination to improve their status, i.e., being able to own two cars as opposed to just one, being able to have a better house with a private swimming pool (in the USSR there were swimming pools, but they were public), for instance. That flaw and political corruption killed communism.

I'd say, being a communist myself, this song and it's many variations feel different. Rather than aprecciating merely it's melody, and what little I could make out of the lyrics, I aprecciate what it meant to the people of the USSR, and to the working classes of the world. The USSR will most likely never come back, but the people's fight will continue, and hopefully, we'll have something similar to it in the future, near future, I hope.
Communism is, theoretically, a good idea but it has one big flaw: it doesn't take into account the human spirit and the people's determination to improve their status, i.e., being able to own two cars as opposed to just one, being able to have a better house with a private swimming pool (in the USSR there were swimming pools, but they were public), for instance. That flaw and political corruption killed communism.
I never thought I'd say this but I think I miss the old USSR. The world seemed safer then. You could choose a side to be on.
