Tack så mycket! Thank you very much! Kiitos niin paljon! Tämän katsominen vastasi vuoden terapiakäyntejä ja rentoutumisharjoituksia. Harmi vaan kun täytyy palata omaan todellisuuteen.
This is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. I first saw it on German television with the name "Der alte Mann und seine Universum" Later it was on Dutch tv and I managed to buy the original DVD. I watch it about every year, and in never get bored. In a time we get more and more busy this Documentary brings you back to a peaceful world. The old man is so in harmony with his world, so in peace with everything, we could take an example from it, even if it just a little. The name of the man is Ragnar Frederiksson. The film was made in 1996. Ragnar was born in 1919 and lived in the house until 2011! He died in 2013. Just google his name and you will find some interesting things about him. He was a very nice person……Greetings, Jeroen
@Randy Bingham Hi Randy, here you can find more him: sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kestina Go to the references. It is all in swedish, but you can use translation options from your browser.
Jeroen : Dick Proenneke, has (4) you might REALLY Enjoy. Alone in the Wilderness. Part(1&2). Alaska Silence and Solitude. And.. The Frozen North . You will Watch these.. . FOR EVER . not joking. 🤠🖖
wow, I looked at the length of this video and thought twice about starting it but once I did, I couldn't stop watching! If this hasn't won an award I'll be surprised as it is such a thoughtful and captivating way to record an old man in a cottage. This is truly made by someone who sees the human side of life and what it is really all about. Thank you phresch.
Ragnar Fredriksson was born in that kitchen, as was his father and grandfather. His great grandfather built the house. Someone visited him when he was 91, he was blind and still lived there! He died in 2013, 93 years old. This small farm Kestina is mentioned on Wikipedia, but only in swedish. By the way, Dan Andersson (1888-1920) lived there at some point. He wrote the lyrics to "Omkring tiggarn från Luossa" performed by Hootenanny Singers. Wonderful, check it out on youtube
Thank you for uploading ! A real memory of my youth. This film inspires me until today. I remember having it on VHS these days long ago. A great atmosphere and inspiration for what really counts in the life of man.
boy howdy is that the most honest film title in history! perfectly captures the atmosphere of rural Scandinavia better than any other media I have encountered
i saw this film for the first time on tv in 1997 or 1998 and loved it. it took me another 10-12 years to find the dvd. since then i must have seen it 50 times and am happy to have stumbled across it here again. to all who liked gubben i stugan, i can only recommend the film konsten att städa by the same director.
this is such a fantastic documentary to put on while one is engaged in thought or study. the background noises are subtle and organic, and there is some esoteric vibration that lends itself to clear thought.
Geboren 1919
The music he listens to in his gramophone is: Sickia-Hambo. Bröderna Oscar och Ragnar Sundkvist. Concert Record "Gramophone", Stockholm. And later in the movie you will hear the: "Arholmavalsen".
Helt fantastisk film.
hmm, do people have to retire when they still are capable to work, this is life but looks too sad, I dont know how i be living like this. No internet, no tv, no stereo, no alkohol even ! nothing but him, in the forrest alone. i be scared shitless in the dark in winter and i would run towards sivilisation
J Briggs yes I would have a dog for sure as company. He could do some hunting and maybe fishing to get food for the dog. Such a lonely life not many people could cope with it.

Classic program from Sweden I never forget.
Funny to see again becouse I living in Thailand now.
Silence, they never heard about here.
this looks like heaven to me.. reminds me of my own youth in Michigan, right down to the red and white house..
Sounds nice. Watch out for momo.
I'm a fellow Michigander-Upper Peninsula and it feels and looks so familiar! My dream is to one day have my very own Stuga on a small piece of land.

Ragnar looks an awful lot like my dad-also from Sweden-I LOVED this gem of a documentary. Thank you for posting it! I will share this with my family.
I always watched it on VHS when I was a child, left such an impression on me! Now finally I am able to watch it again. Thank you so much!

Living the dream.

This film is blocked in Sweden, i can only watch it here with a VPN. I find this strange since it should be available in open archive.
Fantastisk! Takk for fin film.
Beautiful story!
This is lovely. Thank you.
It reminds me of.. Dick Proenneke's Videos. He has (4). ALL AMAZING.
🤠🖖♨️
Beautiful film Been to Sweden often

Yes, but he's kind of A Hermit for the Winter maybe. It's nice he has his Health. But, if he were in my Family I'd be Worried For him.
he should have a dog
And a cat.
J Briggs yes I would have a dog for sure as company. He could do some hunting and maybe fishing to get food for the dog. Such a lonely life not many people could cope with it.

I am a person of little needs but this is ridiculous.
