Daniel explains quite clearly the difference between greek and pan-hellenic in both geographic and historic contexts. This is a video well worth watching both for the literate and the mundane.
Constantine P. Cavafy was a Greek poet who lived in Egypt. He never write poetry in the Egyptian language to be introduced as an Egyptian poet. I would appreciate the correction with deep respect to his legacy and memory! Thank you!
You are right he couldn't speak at all any Arabic word, but they say this cause he spent most of his life in Alexandria he lived and died and buried in Alexandria
There is a difference between contemporary Alexandria and ancient Alexandria, I am sure you can appreciate. Historically. Alexandria was an ancient Greek colony, etc etc etc......history
