I love that women from “rival” girl bands can hold hands and support/celebrate each other. Our media culture loves to use women to tear other women down for a story even though the majority of us prefer to see this.
I loved them both so much when I was a teen, inspired me in so many levels. And hated how people pit them against each other. Spice Girls and All Saints will be my forever super powerful duo.
True. Their respective groups were rivals but Melanie C and Natalie Appleton were actually best friends at that time. They spent a lot of time together. I also read an article on a magazine in which Nat and Nicole weren't very kind towards the Spice Girls but they praised Melanie C saying that she was extremely talented and a genuine person.

Oh it doesn't...sorry I love Mel c but her vocal range is not anywhere near all saints ...Natalie dumbs her vocals down to not embarrass or out do Mel c...she good woman.
Natalie is much higher range and is absolute gold compared to Mel.

I’m so amazed with Natalie’s voice! I’ve never really heard her actually sing during her all saints days. She has a good vocal range, from normal to low then high. She’s so underrated, but she has so much to give. She’s also very good at harmonizing! Go girl! 💋

Emma has a way better voice. But the press for some reason made it a fact that Mel C was the best voice. She's a unique voice which can be utilized to its fullest impact in the studios to sound amazing... And certain live performances... But Emma is the overall star when it comes to carrying and holding a much higher and mid - lower level notes and she has a pleasant sounding natural voice quality ideal for singers.. Mel Sometimes sounds like a high pitched cat like this performance is so not the right key for her and she's getting the core notes wrong.... With a little rehearsal and informed approach she cud have attempted it in another way to make it sound great. Considering its one of her and our fav all saints song.. It was okay but I wasn't vowed... Nat did a great job. So good to hear her take on the clsssic
@@SmithereensTV Baby Spice can't sing. She has no range, not lows, not high notes, her mid voice is as weak as a kitty. She doesn't have the best voice at all, she may sound decent in studio to untrained ears like yours but she can't sing live not even if her life depended on it, hence why all the pitch problems she's had in and out of the group. Her official channel shows a variety of terrible live vocals for you to enjoy it, 'what took you so long' , 'sunshine on a rainy day' , 'her duet with ronan keating' 'maybe'. She can't sing or hold a tune live for a second, her songs ain't that hard either lol
Baby Spice can't sing! She doesn't have the best voice at all. She may sound decent in studio to untrained ears like yours but she can't sing live. Look at her live perfos on her own channel, she has no sense of tune or pitch, almost tone deaf at times. At the brits she was off tune all the time

Yes I commented this..she starts out normal but then realising Mel just hasn't got even half the range she dumbs her tone down ,only giving it some at back up parts..she a wonderful woman and so humble. watch as she leaves the stage.. totally doesn't want to upstage Mel as her night...lovely.
This is because Mel C is a soprano and Natalie is a mezzo-soprano. Natalie's has a wider range in both her lower and upper registers whereas Mel's upper register is strongest (C4 to as high as E7) and she hardly has a lower register at all (which is the case in all true sopranos). Natalie's voice to me, also seems to be stronger than Mel's.
My favorite Spice Girl and one of my favorite Saints together (Shaz too). They're the most talented of their respective groups.
Being a spice fan I've long wondered what it is about all saints and their music that appeals to me ? Yesterday i took time out to get the total update on what they've been upto since they split up and did not know so much about all the reasons behind the all saints split and i was quite shocked by some of them. They have some great tracks in their catalogue mainly from the first two albums. From what I've heard so far..the rest of the stuff they did afterwards didn't really match up except maybe their last single was passable. but again once the magic is gone, hardly anything can revive the time gone .
But i concluded that with the spice girls..they have immense repeat value to their story and their gigs and concerts from back in the day. All saints never got to tour during their peak years and i hardly remembered what they sounded like in interviews..the spice girls i can watch every day. All saints , i can take time out to appreciate once in a while .. because they're singles are gems... They really missed an opportunity by not letting Nicole and Natalie shine when they were at their peak. That was their undoing... The spice girls were all About democracy.. regardless of what went on behind the scenes.. everything was packaged and presented with a positive spin in the Media... They turned every disadvantage into an advantage.. and every negative story about them was masterfully tackled by their PR to maintain their wholesome children friendly image. They were the true OGs who showed the rest how to do it by opening the flood gates..every song gave moments for all of them to shine..that was the best part about the spice girls...they were so spicy.. everything they touched turned to gold.. all saints talent got a chance to shine under the wing and shadow of spice girls and in order to pit the girl groups against each other..all saints were given some great opportunities for their second album to work with producers like William Orbit and Polish up their style and stage presence more.. had the diva syndrome not caught up with both the bands..they'd go far and achieve many more milestones collectively which is when they were strongest... But call it vanity or bitchiness.... When you let it fester ..and the money and stardom starts working it's spell...you become hypnotized and often don't appreciate or pay attention to your closest friends and you hurt them. That is the common takeaway from both stories.... If only they realized it and shared some wisdom with the world so that their kids can one day learn from little lessons that they leave behind about simple anecdotes and incidents which stick in their minds.. it doesn't have to be earth shattering headline making sleazy gossip.just some good things... It would certainly do the world good and also be cathartic for them and future generation of girls to perceive the message of girl power in the right context.. it should not be about Reunions for making Money Only.. they really need to perform and be visible putting their best foot Forward if they either of them are going to reunite again. There is certainly talent and stage presence and they collectively will Always have tremendous star power
