It actually was scripted
The actor were given freedom to make suggestions to the script but didn’t receive credit for the first film.
They wound up doing such a good job that when came time for the other two sequels the actor ended up actually writing the script and got full credit.

Genius movie... it was magic
I think what gives it a special quality is just that: it was his idea, and yes, she actually liked it, so as he talked, A) he thought it was a cool line, and B) she also thought it was cool, and you could see the sparkle in her eyes.

And then in before midnight (the 3rd one) he again tells her that he is a time traveler and has come from the future. Amazing

Bruh I actually used this in real life and the girl went out on a date with me. Long story short, we broke up but this proves that this pick up line works😂 Also it helps if the girl you're shooting ur shot with hasn't seen this movie yet😂

She is very pretentious
I'm glad at least that they made it true to her character. She has big issues with men and lesser issues with Americans. But it felt very natural for her character.
@aaronalfeche don't think you know what pretentious means. The guy straight up convinced her to get off the train with him. Doesn't sound like something a pretentious person would bother doing.
Not that pretentious to point out that no woman would just randomly get off the train to spend time with some guy and arrive later at her friend's place. She helped make the film more grounded and realistic.
Just offer her a pack of smokes and a diet coke
