  • As featured on Network Ten's Healthy Homes Australia, EcoFan is a smart sub floor ventilator used to remove damp, stale air that can cause structural damage, odours and mould growth in the sub floor. EcoFan features an interchangeable exhaust or inward air flow capability. When two EcoFans are installed in the sub floor, the cross flow of air is achieved to allow effective ventilation and improve underfloor air quality problems.

I have a large mass of white mould in my basement when we were about to embark on a spray foam insulation application on the joists - we found x2 large white masses. The debris, dirt and moist soil were still there from house renovation days, which we have cleaned out. Even with that soil gone and my dehumidifier down there for a few days, it has started to dull the colour of the white mould. All common sense really. I would still like to get one of these fans, so that we could improve the airflow of the basement.

What about cleaning it out n putting a vapor barrier on the dirt? More money n alot of work, especially with the brick pilasters, but would it help? Esp with the fan?

Huh, what we call a crawlspace, you call a sub floor, interesting.
Also, I would caulk around that fan.

what does it connect to? is there a motor or does it connect to power? it just showed you putting it into the wall but not what was going on on the other side of the wall

Eco fan runs off a power plug, no motor. For me it was a big waste of money. Knocking out a few extra bricks and replacing the inside vents solved my damp problem

So, it's forcing air into the subfloor to push it out of the other vents, right?

    • @meteora8888
      @meteora8888 23 дня назад

Yes create positive pressure to push air thru

what if it is wet outside, this fan will be drawing moisture into your subfloor?? isn't it better to just extract air from out of your subfloor and leave some vents to allow passive circulation?

    • @meteora8888

Yes but it would be moving the air and moving air dries out is my guess

Is there a difference between pumping air into the basement or extracting air from basement. If I have the option to put a fan into basement, is it better to extract the air form the ceiling or from the floor?

There is a difference and either will help, but - but you need a combination of both for best results.

      Exhaust fan ?

So how many u install blow in and how many blow out ?

    • @meteora8888

For this house they couldn't access the other side so they weren't going for cross ventilation but positive pressure to flush out stake air

Bunnings. It's like 470 bucks or something. Cheaper if you buy the twin pack

whenever i look into doing this (in UK) I always find it's only the aussies that seem to be on top of it despite the issue being rife over here.

You ever get round to doing it? Id be interested to know where you got it in the UK or if you found an alternate system?
