The 1921 D Morgan looks whizzed.

I submitted my 1921-D Morgan to ANACS. It appeared to me and several people I showed it to that it is PL. It came back as an MS-64, but without the PL designation. ANACS stated that the mirrors weren't deep enough. I'm still happy with the grade, although disappointed because it didn't come back as PL. Even so, I cherry picked it out of a group of 1921-D Morgans and paid the same as an ordinary uncirculated Morgan.

The third 1884-O I would say is PL. The other two are PL on the reverse, but not on the obverse.

With SLQs... I like the reverse much better than the obverse, just an awesome eagle!

Also anyone else looking at Ben's new background trying to find secret messages in the engraving like he used to have in "invisible ink" on his paper one? 😜😜

1927 was Lindbergh non-stop to Paris and Ruth hit 60, yes!

The PL designation does not require a cameo appearance, it's dependent on how clear the mirrors are. In the video you did not really attempt to do this (and it is not easy to do), but that's how you'd make that determination. Hold some text up in front of the PL one and compare to the non-PL ones and you should see the difference in reflection quality.

I don't see the cleaning on that 1921-S at the end. I was calling it MS64 shot 65 before I saw the new grade. What was NGC thinking on this one. Not sure if everyone agrees but the 1921-S is the ugliest of all Morgan Dollars date and mint. This is a beautiful 64 with a nice 21-S strike and look at that cheek! Congrats on the excellent decision and another homerun result. I guessed the only PL at the beginning too which is through the video so I just got lucky. Gorgeous semi-PLs there though that's my favorite strike on a Morgan. It still has the satiny cartwheel luster but with deep fields too! One of the most beautiful coins in the world.

I think the infamous year in baseball you're thinking of is the 1919 Black Sox scandal
1927 is the murders row Yankees, more famous than infamous

< This guy guessed right. They all have a decent contrast, but the third coin has the reflectivity in the field missing on the first two.

I nailed all 3 morgan grades. The first two have too much radial luster for Pl 🤷🏽

A couple of key things that happened in 1927: Charles Lindbergh's transatlantic Flight & Babe Ruth's home run record of 60. The most infamous things that happened were the Teapot Dome Scandal trials and the Sacco and Vanzetti case.

Somehow you seem to get a lot of MS62s from the TPGs. Remember those V nickels a few years back? Hmmmm...... 😜😜

Trying to figure out what Particularly Convoluted Grading Scam does is a fool's errand. I can't see any difference in the cameo on the three 84's.

I love proofs. I have many modern silver proof coins, and I love when I can buy silver proof quarters at junk silver pricing. I have some proof Mercury dimes in slabs, but I really want proof or proof-like half dollars, Walking Liberty and earlier, but the prices are crazy. I feel like at best I can do a seated Liberty dime and a Barber dime, not blast white half dollars. Every coin I see where it looks good enough to drop $400-$500, but then it is $1500. Seated Liberty I guess I can understand, but when did Barber half dollars get so expensive?
Long ago I would have simply bought a cleaned coin, but now I am reluctant to spend money on such examples.
What is the best way to get my hands on a pretty Seated half or Barber half slab for reasonable money? If not, are really good BU PL dimes possible under $200 in a slab? I am okay with ANACHS. A Standing Liberty quarter would be another desired coins, but the prices are so high for those too. I almost feel like I would be better off buying the 2016 gold reissue.
