It's funny. The idea of taking the storyline of the show in an alternate direction isn't a bad idea on paper. But without any movement for the cutscenes and having a bad game on top of that, whats the point?
To be completely honest I would have been very offended if a walking dead game didn't have a "walkers only die from headshots" feature, since that's famously the only way to kill walkers in the comics and show

Great on paper, but requires a way bigger skill level and dedication than what they thought and provided. The way the headshots is is inconsistent tho. Should be one headshot one kill.
I would refrain from using logic in TWD, because this was never something the show excelled at. In Season 2 Rick also told you that walkers will attack blood and even demonstrates it on a fence, even tho an episode prior a zombie was gnarling on an unconscious darryls shoe, instead of his bleeding arrow wound. It was also said walkers make noise and always follow noise, yet this is COMPLETELY disregarded anytime they wanna make a jumpscare happen, like when Glenn and Meggi were in the pharmacy.

As a huge Walking Dead fan, it is quite funny how this follows the story quite well but also makes it seem so dumb without any of the important context, the soldiers make sense in the hospital as they were clearing out dead zones and killing anyone in sight as they are panicking about the infection, but this game just throwing soldiers in there with no reason 🤣
This had the potential to be one of the best games of the year because the concept of changing the shows story is really cool as a long time fan of the franchise. I gave this game the benefit of the doubt at first. The bad thing is, the first season isn’t done that bad. But the longer the game goes on, especially when you get to the prison (my favourite arc from the show and comics) the quality and story go downhill and it’s obvious. Moral of the story: this game concept should’ve been given to a different company
The concept is amazing but giving it to the same publisher that made nickelodeon kart racing is not going to go well 😭 Hopefully one day we get a proper walking dead game!

@@CODA96 Ehh...not all licensed games tbf. The Alien franchise has had at least one banger, and TWD itself had the TellTale games as well as the two VR games. I feel like Conan had a good one too? Guardians of the Galaxy recently had a sleeper hit. And obviously Star Wars has a slue of fantastic games, mixed in with the bad. The issue is when the license is given to an inexperienced company for cheap and they're told to get it out ASAP...which is likely what happened here.

it really annoys me. like, part of what makes the idea so interesting is that we could never be sure about what would have happened if shane never shot otis. they had a good distance from the group, and shane was the one that was slowing them down the most (since he had the broken leg), and while shane got a lot of time by using otis as bait, that same ammount of time was wasted almost entirely in the struggle to get the back pack off him. shane chose the easy way out, and actually chose to SHOOT someone, which made his choice much more evil in the eyes of the audience while here there is no morality about the choice. Shane does not shoot maggie, she just trips, and you also get the little message that tell you that carl WILL die without the meds. its such a less interesting choice, because its not a "risk it and do the good thing, or take the safe way out at the cost of your humanity" its a, choose "which character you like more" which sucks, not only because it takes the morality out of the situation (i think most people would choose to save a child they know, rather than a random person they just met) but because it changes the story a lot. it makes shane seem more like a tragic man hero that had to make a hard call, rather than the impulsive, selfish, and dangerous individual he had become. amd obviously it also forces you to choose between two major characters, one of which should not even have been an option in that scene.
I don’t know if you noticed or not, but at 33:20 Herschel (far left) walks perfectly fine. When he’s missing a leg. He is walking normally with a leg gone. Truly one of the games of all time.
They should’ve kept him! It made more sense (with the Sophia in the barn thing and how they found the farm) and the choice the save him or not would’ve been better if u wanted to play exactly like the tv show or divert. With Maggie or Beth being him it doesn’t really give you much of a choice to follow the show or not bc it’s different no matter what if that makes sense. Also it’s nice to see a character who wasn’t it the plot too much have an option to play a bigger role after Carl’s possible death! And your point about Shane’s characterization and Otis’ involvement is absolutely right, story wise so if u can’t tell, their decision to take out Otis peeves me a little 😭

(Also why Meryl lost his eye) In the show, Michonne loses it on Phillip, kills his daughter, and then cuts out his eye too, and Meryl betrays the group immediately after and rejoins the prison. I assume it plays out like that if you kill the daughter like in the show
Not gonna lie, during the segment about getting the medkit for Carl, I saved the girl just because I felt like that was the right thing to do, and couldn’t help but laugh as the game just JUMPS RIGHT TO CARL’S GRAVE, I was nearly in tears laughing because it was just so fast with no build up whatsoever, he’s just straight up dead and I’m just so flabbergasted to the point where it was hilarious. This game was pretty buggy, but I can at least take solace in that I had one pretty positive experience playing it
i saw someone let Carl die and it really feels like they didn't expect anyone to pick that because it p much changes nothing. Most of the choices don't really change much honestly.
I watched some of the episodes that are in this game and the way they play out in the game isn’t the same as the show. For example: Rick didn’t shoot Shane when he came back. That was Carl who found them a few seconds after rick killed Shane
The choices for the expedition actually make sense. If you watch the series, you'll realise they are a copy paste of what happens there, so to succeed an expedition, you need to choose what they do in the episode where that happens

Can you imagine how cool a TwD game could be with an experienced developer studio? The slideshow-style cutscenes are not even a bad idea either, simply keep them in the original comic style.
When I first heard about this game I didn’t hesitate twice to purchase it also due to the fact that I loved the show throughout the years. I haven’t played a game that was exactly like the show/movie since rockstars The Warriors (if you know then you know) but after actually playing it I was a little disappointed because I believe this game was going to be a binger .

What irritates me the most about this game is that they messed up the entire story to the comics and tv show carl doesn’t die until season 8 and he doesn’t die from a gunshot he dies from a walker bite
One thing as well: for the Maggie or Carl choice, there is one of those choices that is pointless everywhere else EXCEPT for one. You can actually choose Beth during it where she will go to the school with Shane instead of Maggie, so she can die there as well.

The only complaint I have a problem with is not knowing names walking dead was the biggest TV show in the world for years its entirely your fault if you've never seen it and its absolutely assuming you've watched the show but aside from that your spot on
It’s even worse when you play it on the hardest difficulty to try to gain a challenge, and you find out some trophies seem to be glitch locked to easy difficulty only, so had to copy my save and replay every level pretty much as I went along. Was very annoying. Got it in the end, but was very irritating.
I wish they’d give us an open world rpg with a Fallout 4-like approach to settlements, but with quests to go on runs for specific stuff (like medicine) too. I just wanna explore/build the prison.

That 'stupid mechanic' you mentioned about not being able to kill zombies with guns without a bullet to the head tells me you never actually watched the show or read the comic or at least not much of it. That's fine. Not everyone enjoyed it enough to stick with it to the end. I eventually got bored with it, too. Anyway, that's supposed to be how zombies work in that world. They are quite literal undead, not simply 'Infected' like Left 4 Dead's zombies or State of Decay's. The only way to permanently put them down in the show and most if not all the games from The Walking Dead's universe, is severe damage to the brain. Specifically the part of the brain nearest to the brain stem. In theory you could destroy the frontal lobe or most of the top of the brain in general and they'd still continue to function.
I have to give this game credit when it's due in The Walking Dead it is Canon that you have to aim for the head and destroy the brain to kill the zombie otherwise it just won't die I believe it was explained back in the CDC episode somewhere in season 1
You know what? I've saved this to my watch later, but the sheer fact you muscled through this shit show of a game for the platinum is deserving of my click, view time, and even a like. May your next platinum run be a smooth one.

This game is so broken, that the night it released, within an hour I realized you can farm skill points, by picking them up, spend some, get downed by a zombie, and let the game spawn you. I Became way overpowered, while playing on the infamous hard mode. Oh, and if I’m remembering right, to fix the annoying no sound bug You have to go into the sound menu, and adjust the sound. Edit: forgot to add, if anyone decides to play this horrible game, and wants to try to farm skill points, don’t load the checkpoint because it’ll take all the skill points that you farmed away
i don't know if anyone's mentioned this in the comments (and if you mentioned it in the video I must have not been paying attention) but this game literally plays like great value brand the last of us, it stood out to me the most when you fought that fat walker in the school gymnasium because it looks almost exactly like the bloater boss fight at the end of the school section of the first game. the stealth mechanic looks like it's trying really hard to be like the last of us but it doesn't even work at all. you even have the same super vision that highlights items and enemies like in the last of us, but i haven't played this game myself so i can't even begin to imagine what the context is for everyone being clairvoyant. you can tell that the developers were given a project they had no idea how to execute so they just tried to make it the most like something they were familiar with that they could to the point where it feels like the video game equivalent of those rip off animated kids movies that are trying to be identical to something well known and popular so that unsuspecting grandparents will buy it for their kids by mistake
To clear up some confusion for the farm part (spoilers duh). After Carl gets shot, a man named Otis (who shot the deer and Carl accidentally) runs over and takes them to his father’s farm. Hershel is a Veterinarian.
@@SatiireI would assume it would be the lowest at $5 because other games like mortal kombat 11, which was originally $60, but the sale price knocked it down to $5. So with the bad reviews plus how many months it’s been since release, it’s most likely that the game will be on sale soon
Even tho the game could've been way better, I kinda liked that you could get through almost every situation the characters actually been in. Gameplay wise there are some problems that truly could've been fixed by some patches. But the cutscenes destroy the whole vibe :( I think they actually had a very nice idea but maybe not enough budget?

I watched some of the episodes that are in this game and the way they play out in the game isn’t the same as the show. For example: Rick didn’t shoot Shane when he came back. That was Carl who found them a few seconds after rick killed Shane
The choices for the expedition actually make sense. If you watch the series, you'll realise they are a copy paste of what happens there, so to succeed an expedition, you need to choose what they do in the episode where that happens
This is why the Walking dead survival instinct will always kick this games ass
the headshot only feature is an actual thing in twd, the walkers only die from you destroying their brain

When I first heard about this game I didn’t hesitate twice to purchase it also due to the fact that I loved the show throughout the years. I haven’t played a game that was exactly like the show/movie since rockstars The Warriors (if you know then you know) but after actually playing it I was a little disappointed because I believe this game was going to be a binger .

One thing as well: for the Maggie or Carl choice, there is one of those choices that is pointless everywhere else EXCEPT for one. You can actually choose Beth during it where she will go to the school with Shane instead of Maggie, so she can die there as well.

The only complaint I have a problem with is not knowing names walking dead was the biggest TV show in the world for years its entirely your fault if you've never seen it and its absolutely assuming you've watched the show but aside from that your spot on
It's already a nightmare playing this game normally, but getting the platinum is on a whole new different of hell.
It’s even worse when you play it on the hardest difficulty to try to gain a challenge, and you find out some trophies seem to be glitch locked to easy difficulty only, so had to copy my save and replay every level pretty much as I went along. Was very annoying. Got it in the end, but was very irritating.

That 'stupid mechanic' you mentioned about not being able to kill zombies with guns without a bullet to the head tells me you never actually watched the show or read the comic or at least not much of it. That's fine. Not everyone enjoyed it enough to stick with it to the end. I eventually got bored with it, too. Anyway, that's supposed to be how zombies work in that world. They are quite literal undead, not simply 'Infected' like Left 4 Dead's zombies or State of Decay's. The only way to permanently put them down in the show and most if not all the games from The Walking Dead's universe, is severe damage to the brain. Specifically the part of the brain nearest to the brain stem. In theory you could destroy the frontal lobe or most of the top of the brain in general and they'd still continue to function.

I have to give this game credit when it's due in The Walking Dead it is Canon that you have to aim for the head and destroy the brain to kill the zombie otherwise it just won't die I believe it was explained back in the CDC episode somewhere in season 1

This game is so broken, that the night it released, within an hour I realized you can farm skill points, by picking them up, spend some, get downed by a zombie, and let the game spawn you. I Became way overpowered, while playing on the infamous hard mode.
Oh, and if I’m remembering right, to fix the annoying no sound bug You have to go into the sound menu, and adjust the sound.
Edit: forgot to add, if anyone decides to play this horrible game, and wants to try to farm skill points, don’t load the checkpoint because it’ll take all the skill points that you farmed away
i don't know if anyone's mentioned this in the comments (and if you mentioned it in the video I must have not been paying attention) but this game literally plays like great value brand the last of us, it stood out to me the most when you fought that fat walker in the school gymnasium because it looks almost exactly like the bloater boss fight at the end of the school section of the first game. the stealth mechanic looks like it's trying really hard to be like the last of us but it doesn't even work at all. you even have the same super vision that highlights items and enemies like in the last of us, but i haven't played this game myself so i can't even begin to imagine what the context is for everyone being clairvoyant. you can tell that the developers were given a project they had no idea how to execute so they just tried to make it the most like something they were familiar with that they could to the point where it feels like the video game equivalent of those rip off animated kids movies that are trying to be identical to something well known and popular so that unsuspecting grandparents will buy it for their kids by mistake

Even tho the game could've been way better, I kinda liked that you could get through almost every situation the characters actually been in. Gameplay wise there are some problems that truly could've been fixed by some patches. But the cutscenes destroy the whole vibe :( I think they actually had a very nice idea but maybe not enough budget?
If they ever make a Telltale TWD game, please just make it so you can get alternate endings with other people surviving.
