    Very cool build! As a back up you should put a float valve on the rodi line as well

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  День назад

      Yeah you could, but then you need to have a ASOV on your RODI unit as well. These have worked well for me now for about ten years

      @ correct they are a couple bucks and come with pretty much every unit you can get here in America

      It’s actually very simple, use a dosing pump to drain it out :)

    I just tossed a digital tap timer with a week scheduler I had laying around to do a similar thing with the two tanks already connected via float valves to the ato.
    I imagine if you wanted to set this up for 2 tanks off the one ato you would be best to still have the float valves on both lines with cut off in the ato and then splice a second control board in to operate the same ball valve.

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  День назад

      Yeah it’d get complex! Might be easiest to have two separate systems?

    Great vid. I built my own using an old apex brain, does the same as yours but uses pressure switches to put the system on and off. I then set delays to let the system flush the membrane and drain the initial minute of production so that only 0 TDS water is collected. Apex classic brains are really cheap used so why not. Happy reefing

    I think this video came at the right time. Can you incorporate a secondary sensor SOV to have as a back up? Is this the same setup your using on your system or do you have any added features?
    Would you use this on the storage device that tops up your sump or only on a storage container to prevent flooding of house 😂😂

    Hi Sam
    Great video
    Do you have a way to have a fail safe for a heater to use in conjunction with a ink bird

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  День назад

      I’ll have a think, but I all I use is a combination of devices that all read temperature. Should more than one notify me that the temp is high or low, I trust that it is

    • @deaniselin4756
      @deaniselin4756 День назад +1

      @@ParkersReefyeah that’s what I do also..
      but I was thinking I need a safety switch to cut power if it reaches a set point

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  День назад

      Auto aqua make a smart security switch for temperature. It’s pre set to 26c (from memory) and won’t let your heater have any power over that temp

    It,s a great video. I know that this is a solution..But i,m scared for this, When there,s a failer your living room is wet.
    I like your video's and hope for a video
    about trimming corals when they hurt each other in a mature aquarium.

    Good explainer Sam, but I would add a float valve just in case the electronics or the valve fail....and they will :)

    Hi, not related to your video but it is about rodi unit. I have a two membrane unit and both membrane are 100 gph and my question is what is the right flow restrictor should I use for my unit.
    Love your videos 😊

    Nitpicking point but if a person is trying to keep copper fittings out of a tank setup then brass is actually mostly copper. Typically %66 actually.

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  День назад

      This is on the freshwater line pre-filter. You’ll find a lot of fresh water taps and pipes are brass, this won’t add any issues. But of course, you can use pvc motorised ball valve if you prefer.
