I know it's not profitable but I'd love to see it as an open air museum.

The Redcar Site was built in the mid 70's so where does the 175 years of contamination come from?
Why didn't everyone fight for Teesside Steel as they seem to fight so hard to save Scunthorpe and so recently the Port Talbot Steel Works.
Politically Teesside has always been the 'Fall Guy' when Plant or Work Closures are involved.
Now apart from the new British Steel (Greybull) company i.e. the Beam Mill - it really is a ghost town/works !

The whole of the river Tees estuary had steel blast furnaces along its banks. This was the last one.

@@liamgbooth blast furnaces produce iron with 4-4.5%carbon...this was converted to steel by Bessemer, open hearth furnaces and the modern BOS plants

I think they should turn it into in industrial or science museum

I never worked in any major heavy industry like steelmaking or oil refining but i have worked in an office and fixing cars and finally ended with schoolkids volunteering. The prospects in Yorkshire and the NE are so bleak. The only option left for these steelworkers is to mantain cricket clubs, rugby pitches and golfcourses nothing else.

Let's skip the decontamination part before setting up the amusement park. We could just as well poison the brats who are empty enough to fancy going to a rinky dink amusement park.

The same happened to the Hunedoara's steel complex in Romania. Demolished and scrapped, only a few got filthy rich from commerce with scrap.
