Seeing Li Mei as a playable character is one of the biggest surprises I've seen for this game yet. I really hope more 3D characters are playable in the future.

Tarkatans look more like zombies now. Also i like to think that Baraka is a leader, because he is the only one who can strongly resist disease to not corrupt his mind completly.

Li mei does look cool in all, but I think I would have liked her fatality better if she would just let the the opponent's whole body explode instead of kicking the head off. Just saying.
I remember an XpurtL33k saying Darrius was in the game I dismissed it immediately because why bring back one of the most hated characters. Kameos however make literally anything possible. .....Also wondering if maybe Kameos might be DLC in the future

Something I noticed in the first gameplay trailer is that the klassic appearance of some mk characters are also going to be kameos in the game, like the klassic Sub Zero, The Klassic Sonya and the Klassic Jack (I hope we get both of the characters as characters in the roster with a new version of the reboot like the other base characters)

It's more likely that Bi-Han will kill Smoke and that will cause "Kuai Liang" to turn on Bi-Han because in the Lin Kuei trailer, Bi-Han doesn't seem to like Smoke judging by that one clip that they showed where Bi-Han emerges from the shadows? (I don't remember) while "Kuai Liang's" hand is on Smoke's shoulder

I just don't understand how Mortal Kombat keeps getting better and better. I still play MK9 on my Xbox360 and MK1, 2, 3 on my phone (emulated). MKX and 11 were epic. And now this re-envisioning MK12 just looks so epic. I'm seriously so impressed. 31 years of Mortal Kombat, many many more years to come hopefully ! this game has been with me since my childhood.

I wouldn't call them retcons per say, since this is a new timeline created at the end of the last game. It's essentially a reboot while still being a continuation.
I don’t think we will since he seems to understand the disease very well and seems to fight everything it changes mentally. We’ll definitely see the struggle with Mileena though which will be interesting to see if she reacts to the other infected with Tarkata disease
Just goes to show even with the hourglass, time is a living thing that wants certain events to happen. Lui Kang tried to erase Shang Tsung from history but he still returns, Bi Han is on the path to become Noob Sabat and Mileena will become part Tarkaten.
It's good in alignment/morality. In writing...That's just the archetypical "old warrior who retires to live in peace, but is forced back"(Rambo, John Matrix from Commando,John McLane...), combined with "character dying from disease but comes back for one last time" (this one I can't give many western examples, but asian fiction is ripe with it from All-Might to Sasaki Kojiro). Maybe it's actually good and they do something with the idea, maybe they throw it all aside in the first few minutes because they still need to have those playable characters, but please do not confuse goodness/niceness and quality, that's why critics suck nowadays.
@@1MM0RT4L Often with stories like these the case is that you can always change the fine details in history, but generally everyone's fate will remain the same. So Baraka may have been more human at some point, but fate decrees that he will always be Tarkatan whether that's by race or by disease.
I love how they improve Li Mei’s purple magic, she always has had that sparkling special moves all the way back in MKD although she was slept on like other 3D era characters Also is that Chameleon standing behind Tanya? (Edit: Khameleon not Cha)
I know it's been said, but I really love this approach to Baraka and his "race". Definitely fleshing out a character that is usually used as a punching bag and it's a welcome change
I think it's pretty close to the original lore. I remember civilians in Deception mentioning the Tarkata are mutated due to experiments that were preformed on regular outworlders.
Idk if it’s me but they somehow have managed to make Baraka super badass in this, he feels like a fun character to play, I normally sometimes pick him but I def will be picking him more now
Nice to see different moves for Baraka. Much more blade combo based. No spark blast, slide and dice, blade charge. He's also not as hulking, and I appreciate the approach of treating tartakan blood as some sort of disease.
First thing I said was "Why did they put his ass back in the game?" with MK11 Baraka in mind. After watching his gameplay, I now welcome him with open arms😅
Interesting new storyline. Baraka's Tarkat disease is in a later stage that made him completely Tarkatan, while Mileena's is in an early stage given they're showing her as human while her Tarkatan side is slowly taking over.
I literally called it that he was gonna be in the game and be the one to give Mileena her disease. Love the Baraka gameplay as well. I feel like I wanna master everyone.
The effects make him look amazing and I've always thought he was underrated anyway so I'm excited for him to hopefully have proper character development

I hate what they did to Tanya. She is supposed to be this mischievous Cleopatra-esque woman. Now this is just some different character with her name slapped on it. Tanya was perfect in MKX.
I liked his MK11 design best, but I'm still really liking this one, and his move set looks fun, the've done him well and with interesting new world changes to keep him fresh.
This is simply awesome. I can't say I've ever been so excited for a Mortal Kombat game. In fact, I feel almost as hyped for this as I did with Street Fighter 6.
Now we're getting more insight on the story of Liu Kang's timeline. Nice! And I love the rivalry between Li Mei and Tanya. Very different personalities on here and their powers and moves are so crisp. In addition, this also answers about Tarkatans. So it's a disease in this timeline and those Tarkatan are infections, including Baraka. Very interesting. Opens up an inquiry about who Baraka use to be and what his human form looked like in this timeline.
In addition, what the origin of this Tarkatan disease came from and how does one become infected? I am loving this twist. It gives a bit of Resident Evil/Dead Rising vibe to that arc.
I'm excited to see this new direction. I grew up playing MK, and it's awesome to see it still kicking. This trailer was badass, and the game looks amazing
So pumped to have my boy Baraka back. His combos look great, and the Tarkat disease story line is interesting. I'm guessing that shot he got will stop his transformation but not revert it so he can retain his intelligence. Mileena will probably get the same treatment before she can grow arm claws. I think Shang Tsung probably engineered the disease to weaken Edenia for invasion. Can't wait to see more and put Baraka's blades to use.

They twist the storylines and plots different. They say now that Tarkatan DNA is a disease but in the original timeline Tarkatan we’re just a race of people from the Netherrealm. I don’t like how they’re changing things and how the stories in the original Mortal Kombat plots aren’t the same.
While I'm not as into MK as I am with other fighting games, I still think it's fair to say that the FGC is eating well this year. This game looks INSANELY good. Those combo strings really makes want to try this

I wouldn't call them retcons per say, since this is a new timeline created at the end of the last game. It's essentially a reboot while still being a continuation.
They really have set the bar with interesting storytelling. Far better than Street Fighter, Tekken, or Soul Calibur.
Baraka being the victim of tarkata is the best thing they have done. Can’t wait to see how it played out

I don’t think we will since he seems to understand the disease very well and seems to fight everything it changes mentally. We’ll definitely see the struggle with Mileena though which will be interesting to see if she reacts to the other infected with Tarkata disease
Just goes to show even with the hourglass, time is a living thing that wants certain events to happen. Lui Kang tried to erase Shang Tsung from history but he still returns, Bi Han is on the path to become Noob Sabat and Mileena will become part Tarkaten.

It's good in alignment/morality. In writing...That's just the archetypical "old warrior who retires to live in peace, but is forced back"(Rambo, John Matrix from Commando,John McLane...), combined with "character dying from disease but comes back for one last time" (this one I can't give many western examples, but asian fiction is ripe with it from All-Might to Sasaki Kojiro).
Maybe it's actually good and they do something with the idea, maybe they throw it all aside in the first few minutes because they still need to have those playable characters, but please do not confuse goodness/niceness and quality, that's why critics suck nowadays.
@@1MM0RT4L Often with stories like these the case is that you can always change the fine details in history, but generally everyone's fate will remain the same. So Baraka may have been more human at some point, but fate decrees that he will always be Tarkatan whether that's by race or by disease.
I love their harrowing screams. Really makes the fatality all the more horrifying. Especially with no slow motion at the end of every fatality.

I know it's been said, but I really love this approach to Baraka and his "race". Definitely fleshing out a character that is usually used as a punching bag and it's a welcome change
I think it's pretty close to the original lore. I remember civilians in Deception mentioning the Tarkata are mutated due to experiments that were preformed on regular outworlders.
It's a terrible change to be honest. One that doesn't even live up to the original lore.
Not sure how making racial features a disease is a good change 💀 not to mention their still gonna be punching bags so that hasn't changed

Nice to see different moves for Baraka. Much more blade combo based. No spark blast, slide and dice, blade charge. He's also not as hulking, and I appreciate the approach of treating tartakan blood as some sort of disease.
First thing I said was "Why did they put his ass back in the game?" with MK11 Baraka in mind. After watching his gameplay, I now welcome him with open arms😅

Interesting new storyline. Baraka's Tarkat disease is in a later stage that made him completely Tarkatan, while Mileena's is in an early stage given they're showing her as human while her Tarkatan side is slowly taking over.
Love the Baraka gameplay. The slashes are sparky, bloody and look dope. Really love these particle effects.
I literally called it that he was gonna be in the game and be the one to give Mileena her disease. Love the Baraka gameplay as well. I feel like I wanna master everyone.
The effects make him look amazing and I've always thought he was underrated anyway so I'm excited for him to hopefully have proper character development

This is simply awesome. I can't say I've ever been so excited for a Mortal Kombat game. In fact, I feel almost as hyped for this as I did with Street Fighter 6.

Now we're getting more insight on the story of Liu Kang's timeline. Nice! And I love the rivalry between Li Mei and Tanya. Very different personalities on here and their powers and moves are so crisp. In addition, this also answers about Tarkatans. So it's a disease in this timeline and those Tarkatan are infections, including Baraka. Very interesting. Opens up an inquiry about who Baraka use to be and what his human form looked like in this timeline.

In addition, what the origin of this Tarkatan disease came from and how does one become infected? I am loving this twist. It gives a bit of Resident Evil/Dead Rising vibe to that arc.

So pumped to have my boy Baraka back. His combos look great, and the Tarkat disease story line is interesting. I'm guessing that shot he got will stop his transformation but not revert it so he can retain his intelligence. Mileena will probably get the same treatment before she can grow arm claws. I think Shang Tsung probably engineered the disease to weaken Edenia for invasion. Can't wait to see more and put Baraka's blades to use.
