This episode is incredible. Thank you.
This was a great episode with a top basketball mind. Please go get Hubie next
JJ just spits knowledge but Tommy needs to be recognized as one of the best co-host..perfect compliment, knowledgeable, knows when to let the pros deliberate..just the perfect persona to fit JJ
He's the perfect duo for JJ
This is kind of unrelated but I grew up playing baseball with Tommy in NJ. He was a super nice kid back in the day, glad to see him have success like this. Shout out to our undefeated champion baseball Giants 🤣🤣
AGREE 💯💯💪🙌
Agreed
a lot of nba players podcasts have co hosts that nearly ruin the conversation for me sometimes. tommy is perfect amounts funny, interesting, and cognizant of when to shut up and asks great questions
Doris is such a great basketball mind - so on top of everything from the big picture to the granular analysis, from x's and o's to team psychology. This was such a good episode. Bring her back, please.
Get her on more Nuggets games too!
She’s the worst
Wish she'd write a book. Notably an autobiography.
She is terrible lol
Doris is a real one. I'll never forget how she almost lost her mind defending the Raptors in their run. I'm sure shes had a few terrible takes like anyone, but she's had so many good takes. What a legend.
Doris is a gem, she is hands down smarter and sharper on commentary vs 99% of the men covering games. Y’all did a great job respecting her unique position in basketball while getting her wonderful takes.
Exactly. Her insight and knowledge is off the charts.
I absolutely adore these peaks behind the curtains of sports media. I think we often lose sight of the actual people involved and Doris is clearly a treasure trove of knowledge and historical value.
Fantastic pod!
Great episode! Love Doris, she is a national/international treasure!
Endless love for Doris. My favorite basketball analyst. God bless you Doris! 💛💛
It gives me chills listening to Doris break down her ascension in NBA analysis/commentary. She’s one of the few people there off of shear merit I think. I clicked this video because whenever I hear her talk during games, she’s usually saying something compelling that I didn’t know and I’m far from a casual fan. I really hope she feels like she deserves her spot because she does and I hope that she knows that as fans, we appreciate her work over the years.
Doris is absolutely all time. What a pleasure to watch this episode. Thanks guys.
Love Doris soooo much!!! Just absolutely a joy each time she’s on a podcast or as an analyst. By far the best!
I ❤️ DORIS! I literally do a happy dance when I turn on an NBA game, and she is broadcasting. I don't care who is playing....I'm watching the game. Great interview!
Doris is a treasure to this sport, thank you JJ & other NBA personal for taking advantage of these platforms & giving people a voice. Inspiring, loved this episode so much. All love!
I listened to this on Spotify but felt compelled to leave a comment. This podcast was just amazing (as always) to listen to and it was just so touching to hear Doris talk about how she fell in love with basketball and what got her here. It is impossible to not have gargantuan amount of admiration for the work she has put in to get to where she is now in a male dominated industry and upholding to those standards with her exemplary analysis of the game. This podcast was just a blast to listen to, again as it always is every single week. Thank you guys for what you do. 🙌
I love Doris. She’s been the goat, she’s a pioneer, She’s forever part of the voice of the NBA.
That was definitely top 10 interviews JJ and Tommy have done. Doris is a legend!
You can feel that both Doris and JJ loves the game more than their 'selflove' which in direct contrast to people like Skip, Stephen A, Max Kellerman etc.....
Stephen A actually knows the game. I haven't heard anything from him that would make me categorize him with Max & definitely not with Slip
@@robertfoster6940 yep but very very biased as the ones I grouped him with….
So awesome to see you both get emotional reflecting on how basketball has shaped your lives. It's moments like this that represent what nba media should aspire to.
What a great interview/conversation - thank you to all three of you (and everyone else involved in putting these pods together)! There is just nothing like people like Doris who are so invested and have such great heart, and let us in on that in addition to all their great insights and stories!
She is just the best. A true gem of a human. The Jersey Shore, ball in the yard story is incredible.
Love the emotion that JJ got Doris to show in this but at the same time part of me slightly mad that he made her cry
Protect DB at all all costs, she got my eyes all watery God damn I love this woman, absolute living legend!!!
Good to see her on the pod 🐐
Nah Marv Albert is the goat, then it’s Mike breen after him.
@@jaydot4956 You cry in every comment, princess?
One of the best podcasts I have heard in a while. As a girl dad and a former D1 player I appreciate Doris and JJ’s perspectives.
Doris😘😘😘 She Is A Icon & Living Legend💯👍
This is gold! You always go deep, thank u JJ & Tommy!
Dorris an absolute legend sick to see this conversation
Love this interview JJ and Doris, a legend.
Great interview again! Doris was really insightful!
Easily my favorite NBA analyst since hearing her voice in 2K. Great interview
Doris is such an adorable person overall. It's not just her basketball knowledge, she's genuinely a good person and it shows.
Doris the LEGEND! Such a great podcast!
Very heart warming listening doris background story, never thought of her come from such a tough background
Everyone loves Doris Burke ❤️
Love Doris, she is an absolutely amazing basketball personality, so real
I find myself watching games I wouldn’t normally watch when the people calling the game are enjoyable to listen to and Doris is one of those people.
Tommy: nice shirt!! Much love from France😅
Doris Burke is a remarkable women. She has a light about her and a unique energy that draws us in. She is excellent at her role and I hope she never fears about losing her job. You have been wonderful and you have contributed to me as an NBA fan in loving the game!
DB a living legend
I’m a simple man, I see Doris, I like & watch the video!!
Great guest.Doris Burke is one of the BEST in the business.Knowledgeable with great insight. Some high IQs on that podcast today.
If Doris talks Basketball, everyone in the room should shut up and start listening. She is the living proof of how gender stereotypes got in our way for too long undermining the brilliant minds of beautiful people with different backrounds giving their knowledge in the field they expertise in.
She starts glowing when she is doing the things she loves the most and it's a joy to watch or hear Doris giving her perspective on any given topic.
Great Episode!
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
First! Love Doris, she's a legend. Great interview JJ!
Great episode man. I felt that!! It made me very emotional. The funny thing is that for me being out there on the soccer field was the place for me where I felt like I belonged. But, it was also the place where I was critiqued and roasted the hardest. At times it was abusive. No place on this earth or profession will ever give someone more adoration or criticism than in professional sports. This includes critique, roast and abuse from other athletes, experts, team executives, scouts, fans and your own teammates! No other profession or place will beat your down harder or build you up higher. It’s intoxicating and addicting all at the same time and that’s why I think that most of us find it so hard to give it up. The high is so high that nothing else in this world can ever replace it.
The LEGEND … DORIS!!!!
We love Dorris
I see you Tommy 🇫🇷🇫🇷 Great convo as always
Awesome podcast...all 3 of you are awesome,& so knowledgable.
Man this was a great interview, S/O DB even though you sounded like you was going for Philly 😂😂
First I just want to say that I am going for the Nuggets, I love Jokic he is my favorite player right now in the NBA. To act like the Nuggets, Warriors, and Grizzlies are the first teams to get their role players later in the lottery is ridiculous. Was Tony Parker not drafted at the end of the first round? Manu Ginobili at the end of the second round? What these teams have done is take pops blueprint that worked for 20 years and won 5 championships and expanding on it. Kerr, and Jenkins came through San Antonio and they credit pop. Pop helped Malone get a job in Cleveland, and New Orleans pop also helped him while he was in Sacramento. Once again I want to say I love Denver but to erase pops influence is an injustice especially when the coaches themselves have credited pop
Doris is fr such a legend
1:26:05 I distinctly remember that voice crack, DB! Like you I was locked in that series.
* one of the themes of this podcast , is every one brings up the low moments of my life * im in tears
We LOVE DB ❤️
Dude Doris is such an OG.
Doris beautiful inside and out. She is smart and kind and her passion for the game shines through. She is a gracious guest and very insightful and inspiring.
JJ put in work this entire episode iykyk
On the subject of Jokic and defense. He's not a Jaren Jackson Jr. or a Giannis obviously, but what I think is extremely valuable about the way he plays defense is that he doesn't try to do too much and therefore doesn't accumulate a bunch of needless fouls. I don't see him get into a lot of foul trouble in general and knock himself out of a quarter or a half. Whereas there are a ton of big men who struggle with this. I've seen bigs like Ayton or Jackson Jr commit so many pointless fouls and have to get subbed out of the game early. I think Jokic should get some credit for being smart about how he contends with his size without fouling - he understands his value is in being on the court - even if it means sacrificing a few points in the paint - so he's not wasted on the bench with foul trouble.
Great episode again!
love doris bring her back
DORIS IS THE 🐐 MANE 😭❤
Thank you JJ for actually trying to do something about the biases on ESPN when it comes to the NBA and the smaller market teams. Haven't they ever wondered why the NFL don't have any problems like that? At least not in Denver for sure in the NFL the Broncos are big market lol
Doris Burke is the 🐐
I'm hardcore rooting for the Heat, Jimmy Butler is my favorite, Bulls are my home team and he is forever a Bull... and my brain tries to cast the Nuggets in the bad guy position for the fun... but I'm so happy for Jamal Murray, and Jokic is giving Dirk + Tim Duncan + J Kidd or somethin... can't be mad at that.
TRUE Champion on the Court and in LIFE! Stellar role model for a woman in Basketball & Sport on a whole!!!
Doris is such a huge guest.
JJ and Tommy - interesting question related to how media can be better with Doris, but I think you are sitting on the answer already.
In your podcast you get into the fine grains of the game and there needs to be more of that kind of exploration and explanation. NBA media has done the game a disservice by expounding on the fantastic and not the fundamental. The two best comparators to Jokić for example are Tim Duncan and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, both of who get overlooked in the discussion of greatest ever in part because of their understated personalities. People forget that TD was known as “The Big Fundamental” and even as he played that wasn’t celebrated in the same way as Shaq tossing Chris Dudley under the basket like he was a dog’s chew toy. Even a guy like Vince Carter gets celebrated for his dunks over the fact that, other than a few early years in Toronto, that guy never really moved the needle for any team he played on because he prioritized comfort over commitment.
Show the audience what the real game is about. You can do that, so can Doris and so can Draymond. Quit with the “hot takes” as an industry. Jokić was the engine on the best team in the league and put up a historic stat line for the season resulting in a year where he should have won the MVP but didn’t because it was Joel Embiid’s - out in Round Two again - “turn”.
I get personality and sizzle is easy to sell, but the beauty of the game isn’t there. Michael Jordan wasn’t great because of the hype, he was great because, even as the greatest athlete ever on the floor, he had the best fundamentals, he worked the hardest and he practiced like a demon.
You guys need to start bringing those aspects forward and stop talking about guys like Zion Williamson and Ben Simmons who to me are completely irrelevant to the discussion of the game. Leave the clowns for the circus. Show the game for what makes it great.
I love Doris
this was special. i like the wide variety of guests. especially being a woman bringing a different perspective.
Jj im not watching on youtube if there’s an ad every 5 seconds
Doris is a GOAT!!!!
Doris is a smoke show at her age 🔥
Love Doris
The goat Doris Burke 👑
I was wondering, if that was the same women who comment on the 76ers games, and of course it is. Always liked her input. Great tone of voice as well.
I have a request - can you ask every player analyst to do a 30 minute heck I would do whole episodes on the most competitive games they have ever seen or played in - that fascinates me because I don’t think every game will be what we think A I want to know how the coaches were responding players themselves everything they experienced during the game and the process of winning or losing etc. Oh and Doris is elite 🙏🏾💴
Doris the 🐐
DORIS THE GOAT
Doris is such a beauty
Tommy with the French soccer fit💪💪🇫🇷
I ❤️ Doris
Wade and shaq in Miami always gets over looked as an all time great duo
She is awesome
Every time I listen to Dorris, I think i found a cure to my insomnia
To address the part about rooting interests; while I believe you both, you do have to agree that some media people do and some have a preferred outcome because of narrative.
If J.J never played in the NBA he would STILL be working in the NBA because he's an analytics/ data nerd like no one else. This dude spits out numbers like a calculator!!
She is the goat!
Jokic is must see TV if you love bball.....like Steph ........it seems to me like no one can ever take him out of his game
DB the 🐐🐐🥶🥶🥶
Need NBA to have Doris Burke and Hubie Brown call a game together!
OG ma'am
Doris is a legend
Contender for best in-game call of all time:
Is this the dagger? OOOH Game! Series! Toronto has won!
-Kevin Harlan
Got here early
❤❤❤love
U got me again jj i saw goat james name 😂😂😂🫡🫡🫡👑👑👑👑
Look up bouldering, pro climbers aren't ripped, huge... but they throw their whole bodyweight off of a finger on a 1cm crimp. I think the NBA skills have been static overtime for a reason, but it is interesting to consider new types of athleticism and see the effect on the game. Might be a slow but interesting shift over the next few decades.
Idk I think it'll happen quicker then you think personally I prefer string players over springy for example I'd rather Shai or Brunson over trey even through he is flickier he's much less versatile
First comment jj 🎉
She the goat
Marv Albert is the goat.
@@jaydot4956Chill, princess!
Question for JJ, if Jamal wins mvp is he the 6th player to be the best player on a championship team?
