This is public knowledge that was in the news: About 20 years ago in Nassau County, NY, a defendant charged with DUI (in NY, it’s DWI) hired a good attorney who discovered that the NCPD’s crime lab had multiple issues; unsecured room, equipment not calibrated, evidence not sealed, etc. The defendant’s case was dismissed and because of this case, other cases were dismissed as well.
Yeah. And that sentence should be handled exactly like that and not like a "misconduct" I mean wtf? So everybody on the streets can just say I was destroying it to keep my wife safe that's all I swear
So basically he steals drugs and stuff from his own cop shop. And he only got 10 days, lost his job, and has to pay $800. Even if he wasn't lying something doesn't seem right about that. Like how did he destroy that gun?
This reminds me of the court case for an insurance claim against fire. A man bought 10 cigars worth $250 K as an investment. He decided he could smoke just one and sell the rest. Before he knew it he had smoked them all and he had to repay the money he borrowed to invest with. He filed an insurance claim and in court, his attorney said that several sequential fires caused the loss and the judge agreed. On his way out of court, the police arrested him for committing arson 10 times. Some times it's just better to take the loss.
